Wes Tender Posted 23 February, 2013 Share Posted 23 February, 2013 I guess it would depend where you are flying to. And indeed whether it is a package deal or scheduled and then what class.
John Boy Saint Posted 23 February, 2013 Share Posted 23 February, 2013 Lawrie Mac tells the story that when Saints signed Kevin Keegan Saints doubled the ticket prices and no one batted an eyelid. Would have been interesting to see the thread on here if the infernal net had existed way back then. I recall paying 90p as a nipper back in 1978 when we kicked of in the then Division 1, my ticket for the League cup final at Wembley the following Spring was a humongous £2.50. Bit scary compared to JPT final tickets for 4 of us in Club Wembley costing over £200.

Kenilworthy Posted 23 February, 2013 Share Posted 23 February, 2013 When I started going in 68/69 the most expensive seat in the Dell was 19/6 (just under a pound) and the programme was a shilling (5 p). The best seats available for the FA Cup final in 76 were £10.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 23 February, 2013 Share Posted 23 February, 2013 The average rate of inflation has been what over the years? About 3.5% per annum? How does that compare with the ticket increases?

Lord Duckhunter Posted 23 February, 2013 Share Posted 23 February, 2013 Heard a guy on 5live the other night discussing this. He said it cost the same to go to the cinema in the 70's as it did to watch top flight football. Now it's £8.50 for cinema and £35 for football. Cheam Saint Posted 23 February, 2013 Share Posted 23 February, 2013 When I started going regularly in 1984 it was £3 to stand in the Milton Road End and £1-50 for under 16s. Interestingly, at the time, it was also £3 to go to the cinema. The other night I went to the cinema for £9-50, yet my Liverpool ticket just set me back £35. Just goes to show how football prices have gone up in real money.
