Dr Who? Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 What do you all think of it? I think if the rules say it is ok, then it is fine, but if the football league need to change it, then they should change the rules. Seems like they have a great set up going on, and I doubt the fans care, if it means a return to the championship. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21522843
Dr Who? Posted 20 February, 2013 Author Posted 20 February, 2013 Also like the quote below and can imagine him saying it. Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy was asked for his thoughts on the situation after the game and gave the question short shrift. "I don't give a hoot what they're doing personally," he said. "If it's within the rules, it's within the rules. Let them get on with it. We've played against a better team than us who have played within the rules of the game. "You won't get me moaning about it." Also, if they were bottom or struggling you would not get other clubs moaning, they are just jealous.
hypochondriac Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 Yep. Shows Holloway up for the imbecile he is.

It seems there's a massive loophole that needs to be closed, but IMO it's similar to Darren Ferguson borrowing players off his dad. It's working for Watford, so good for them, but there will be some annoyed fans of other clubs that fail to go up. I had to look this up as Watford fans were talking about getting a fee for Vydra when we were linked with him in January, despite the fact he's only on loan.

What is wrong with what they've done?
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 21 February, 2013 Posted 21 February, 2013 Frankly, I'm surprised someone hasn't done it sooner. I live not too far from Watford, and have seen them a couple of times this season. They look to have a few decent players, clearly having Zola helps as well. Such a class act. I think possibly one or two players have now moved permanently.
Crab Lungs Posted 21 February, 2013 Posted 21 February, 2013 Fair play to Watford and Mick McCarthy with his comments. Typical bitter diatribe from Ian Holloway.
Lighthouse Posted 21 February, 2013 Posted 21 February, 2013 Wouldn't mind nicking vydra off Udinese in summer. The bloke seems to know where the net is and fits the bill with his age and being in Italy.
saints-cris Posted 22 February, 2013 Posted 22 February, 2013 If its within the rules, then fair play to them. Yes it hampers English talent bla bla bla, but for those clubs, theyre trying to get into the Premiership and are well within their rights to get there however they see fit. Fact is Watford are playing some great football, countless people ive seen have said 'they're the best side ive seen all season'. The only ones complaining are the jealous ones. Holloway will always find something to grate about. Vydra and Abdi are class, very good for that division. I personally am rooting for Watford. Plus theyre in my bet now so..
Pancake Posted 22 February, 2013 Posted 22 February, 2013 Don't Man Utd do this the other way round and send all their kids to their sister club in Belgium (I think, maybe Holland) No problem with it, Saints should link up with Barca...
dinger Posted 22 February, 2013 Posted 22 February, 2013 Just a club trying to exploit the rules for competitive advantage. That's sport. If the FA/UEFA think it's unfair they will change the rules, but in the meantime...

They did look like they were in need of a bit of youth and flair the other night. I am not sure our boys would like the food though, look what happened to Shaw on our recent trip out there.

They used to send a lot of players to Antwerp. Ronnie Wallwork and our own Danny Higginbotham got in trouble for attacking a ref whilst playing there about 15 yrs ago.
