Liverpool v ManYoo - A question for the older poster

For those of you whose memory recalls the 80s dominance of Liverpool, which teams dominance - Liverpool then or ManYoo now - gets(got) more on your tits ?

Despite the arrogance, money-obsession, Surrey fans, etc associated with ManYoo, I personally still think the Liverpool dominance was far, far, worse. That was syrupy-sweet, kitsch, nauseating self-entitlement. I also think Manyoo players make more effort for England than Liverpool players did.

Slightly off-topic but the thing that strikes me about the top teams of the 80's is the number of Scottish players that they had.

Dalglish, Souness, Hansen, McQueen, Jordan, McClair, WGS, Archibald and loads that I've forgotten.

How many now in the top 5 or 6 Premier teams?

Which is why Man Yoo made more of an effort for England

Worth noting the last(/only) two British managers to win the Premier League were Scottish.

Guess I'm not really welcome here, having only been born in '89, I have never witnessed any Liverpool dominance - neither have most of my Liverpool supporting mates (majority from London), not that it ever stops them talking about it.

Maybe it's just me, but I never really get the whole hating a team for doing well thing? Clearly in my time as a football fan ('95 onwards is when I can really remember it) Utd have been the dominant English force. I've always quite liked Uniteds teams, who are generally attack minded, exciting to watch, and look to nurture their own players. I know Fergie is a character people love to hate, but I just have nothing but respect for Fergie. For me, his is the best manager ever. Simply unparalleled.

I have nothing but admiration for Fergie and all he has achieved, he's built 3 great sides and looks on the way to building another. To maintain that dominance for that length of time is incredible and also brought through some of the best players of our generation. Don't really have a problem with them even if they are now the global brand and in may ways the epitome of all that is wrong with Association Soccerball these days.

Liverpool annoyed the hell out of me when I was younger due to them beating us in two cup semi finals and the massive media love in with them, probably nothing by comparison to these days but as young lad having to put up with Shoot and Match and so on going on and on about them all the time.

Exactly my feeling too. As much as i hate the sight and sound of the gum munching red nosed git, you can't have anything but total admiration for what he has acheived in seeing off all contenders from Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelski and now Man City. Also not afraid to show that NO player is bigger than the club in his dealings with the likes of SparkyHughes, Beckham, Stam, Van Nistleroy and Ronaldo amongst others, by getting rid of them even though they were still at the top of their game.

I am amazed that Man U are running away with the league this season, I don't think they've ever gone behind in so many games before, yet come back and win without looking as convincing as they used to. Rest of the challengers not up to it, too many foreign mercenaries? Man U teams have always had a good % of hoe grown players. Also all things considered, compared to all the other teams bar arsenal (and look where they are!!) they haven't chucked money at it in a Man C / Chelski way. One or 2 marquee big transfers a year, more often or not offset by a big incoming fee for an out going star.

PS Fergie saying we were the bestest team to play at Old trafford this season, a few weeks ago, has nothing to do with any of this!!
