Gareth Bale - sell on clause?

The biggest load of Lowe apologia we've seen on here in a quite a while. As if the opinion of a bunch of meat-headed Norf London yobbos counts for anything..

No one, not no one on here, could have predicted Bale's rise. The9's absolutely on the money here, it's amazing what hindsight does on here, I saw few complaints when we got a Tottenham goalkeeper for what was money for nothing.

The fact that Bale is now the expensive player in the world is beyond anyone's predictions.

Using Bale as a stick to beat Lowe with isn't on really. He was desperate for money, the family silver had been sold by Wilde and we were desperate.

I wonder how people would have reacted if he'd said no?

"No I won't sign a former Tottenham goalkeeper with the money we got for a left back that we sold for a good price at the time"

Chances are he'd have been absolutely slaughtered....

Damned if you do, damned if you don't..

So, seeing as Levy is now holding out for 125m cash for Bale, we've lost out to the tune of over 30m, with the only compensation being that we had Forecast playing billy-big-balls round the city's bars and flesh-pots for 4-odd years.

Superb. :(

So what would you have done differently when running a business that was pretty much trading insolvently? You are on here bleating about it, but you didnt know Bale would end up like this, I guess you are aghast taht he did the same with Walcott are you?

With the Bale transfer imminent, looks like we are set for a mini-windfall with the development fee somewhere between 2.5 % and 5% - which if reports are to be believed, could be worth up to £4.7million. What to spend it on?...

Must say, I admire the way Spurs have handled the whole situation and the appointment of Baldini has obviously made them a bit more street-wise on that front, given Levy's usual policy of brinkmanship. Transfer was obviously agreed with Real quite some time ago, but Spurs have asked to delay announcement to finalise their own deals. This has put them in a stronger negotiating position as clubs, although probably aware of the impending transfer, can't exactly extort more money out of Spurs as they don't yet have it. They've managed to strengthen 3 or 4 positions and if they get in Lamela (who is potentially world class) then they are looking very solid for this season.

At some point - hopefully a few years down the line - we will probably receive a mega-money bid for one of our current players (Shaw/Wanyama, etc.) If we can't hold on to them, then Spurs have shown the way to properly handle a big name departure this window.
