mightysaints Posted 17 February, 2013 Share Posted 17 February, 2013 Any one changed from sky to VM recently. Our sky bills are getting steep and VM looks a good deal. Is the TiVo as good as Sky's box
Thedelldays Posted 17 February, 2013 Share Posted 17 February, 2013 I always thought that the TV side of VM was more expensive....

Whitey Grandad Posted 17 February, 2013 Share Posted 17 February, 2013 I changed from Sky to Virgin last year. The overall cost is about the same as Sky + Plusnet but I now have three TiVo boxes each of which can record three programmes at a time. I can now watch footy in the conservatory or the bedroom whilst the head of the household is watching Coronation Street in the lounge. The Virgin package also includes ESPN sports. The broadband speed is also a lot faster.

Is the TiVo as good as Sky's box Tivo is VERY weird when compared to Sky, was with Sky for years until 2 weeks ago ....... Having said that, the broadband is fookin' excellent, phone is (well a phone, nowt different really) and TV is ok, quite good actually. The menu system is taking a heck of a lot of getting used to ..................and I don't like the planner/ recording bit especially, but I think I'd take Virgin over Sky if given the choice again. Whatever you do, don't phone their customer services though ................... http://www.traceymcnee.com/artists/images/henry/web/blind_leading_the_blind_large.jpg
Tractor_Saint Posted 18 February, 2013 Share Posted 18 February, 2013 Tomorrow VM gets installed. BT Broadband was pants for me so had to move subscriber for BB. VM had the package for BB, phone and tele so cancelled Sky as well. Using my Egyptian feed for all BPL games so not a great comparison but will be saving around £50 a month doing it this way.. Whitey Grandad Posted 18 February, 2013 Share Posted 18 February, 2013 Be prepared for endless calls from Sky asking if there's anything they can do to tempt you back. The bastards won't take no for an answer.

The bastards won't take no for an answer. Thats what I was hoping for tbh, but I never received one ! All I got offerred when cancelling was £5 off their standard HD subscription (still more expensive than Virgin) and one other v v small discount off of something or other (can't remember what now !) Will hope they offer something better in 18 months when the Virgin subscription is up ! :-)
