Colinjb Posted 27 November, 2008 Share Posted 27 November, 2008 (edited) Well, a bloke is devoting a year of his life to see if he can turn himself into a pro. He recently attended a 'Be a Pro' day and has had comment passed by Poortvliet and Le Tissier on his chances. He will consulting dieticians, coaches, fitness experts and movement analysts to help him achieve his goal. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7735859.stm Personally, I reckon he has no chance. Saint Mikey Posted 27 November, 2008 Share Posted 27 November, 2008 From watching that vid, the bloke has as much poise as a three-legged turtle. If he makes it to a pro, I will eat my hat. Fair play to giving it a go though, will be interested in the study in general. I would have thought the fitness side will certainly help him along. Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 27 November, 2008 Share Posted 27 November, 2008 Is this just an elaborate plan by Lowe to harvest cheap players? Get them to sign on at the end of the year if they are any good! No transfer fee's to pay and a relatively low wage I imagine!
Saint Martini Posted 27 November, 2008 Share Posted 27 November, 2008 "Wenger says if a player doesn't have the technical ability by the time he is 14, if he doesn't have the physical capability by 16 or 17, the tactical ability by the time he is 18 or 19 then he will never make a really good footballer. Saint Stimp Posted 28 November, 2008 Share Posted 28 November, 2008 Ian Wright disproves that theory There's nothing saying that Wright didn't have those features as a youngster and just wasn't picked up on
St Landrew Posted 28 November, 2008 Share Posted 28 November, 2008 o dear. why hasnt anybody got the heart and the balls to tell him hes got no hope dont waste the time your ****e, i think matty kind off polity said that Oh that's right... kill the guy off before he even tries. I admire the bloke for even dreaming that he could do it. Let's not put an end to his dreams. Although I expect the bloke to fail, because it is such a tall order; I wish him the very best of success while he tries. At least he's trying..! Try to be extraordinary if you can help it. As you can see, there are plenty of others only too willing to be mundane.
Saint in Paradise Posted 28 November, 2008 Share Posted 28 November, 2008 A lot can happen in a year so good luck to him and remember how many players were turned away by clubs before "making it" with others.
