West Ham to bid for Lambert

The Mirror make up unsubstantiated lies. Like Adkins being sacked and replaced with some foreigner.

Who's claiming it's a lie? The Mirror have simply said wham are interested, nothing more and posters have responded by questioning why we would want to sell RL or why he would want to leave.

Why will he sign or be sold. Why won't he just stay?

He will want security of knowing his future. Plus we could probably get 4m in the summer. That would reduce to next to nothing the following Jan and then zilch the next summer ie the Van Persie scenario.

Hopefully we give him another 3 year contract taking him to 34 - he deserves it more than anyone.

Fascinating.

West Ham don't even appear to be sure they're keeping their manager let alone which players they may or may not acquire in the summer.

Well. We have players out of contract in the summer too who are important to us

Plus Morgan has only just a years left

I suspect, like us... They are waiting till they are mathematically safe

the media always like to rock the boat. No doubt their freinds Fat Sam and Pardew are happy to unsettle our club.

At a national level Pardew rarely gives any tips, off record quotes etc whilst employed. I say rarely - to my knowledge never - but he may have done in a previous life. Sam usually talks on the record so this almost definitely wouldn't have come from him, however the owners and their Cheif Exec on the other hand......

I think it is likely that we will be the subject of many summer outgoing transfer rumours with the way the team is playing at the moment. I'm sure the media will hype up Lambert potential bids to the hilt along with just about every other performing player. I think we need to nail our intent to the mast early & publicly announce that key players are not for sale plus make a big 1 or 2 signings early on. By doing this is will signal that we are not willing to settle for survival or mid table next season.

I could see it happening this summer, not that I'd be pleased by it!

Rickie is comming to the end of his career whether we like it or not and this summer might be the last chance for the club to cash in on him, if West Ham could be persuaded to part with 5m or so and we have a quality replacment or two lined up it would be tempting financially to do the deal. Might also be a temptation for Rickie one last pa day oppertunity he's never had a big transfer to collect a nice signing on fee and some silly wages and this could be his last chance.

Would much rather he stayed here until he retires mind!

If West Ham bid say 10m in the summer for RL, I reckon the Don may be tempted. He's 31 and as such will likely start to wane in terms of influence maybe not next year, but possibly soon after. A 9m profit for a player having a limited impact on the future project.......

Of course I'm a fan and would never sell him due to what he has achieved for us over the last years and could do over the next couple. But honestly, I know feck all really about running a football club and am quite happy I'm not in charge.

Don't doubt West Ham would be interested and could well make a bid, so it's a little harsh to have a go at the mirror for reporting such? [previous erroneous stories notwithstanding].

Guess once we are mathematically safe, we will sit down and try to negotiate new contracts. If Ricky asks for say £60k p/w on a 3 yr contract, then we will have a real decision to make. He's not going to be able to play a high tempo pressing game at 34 and if WHam are offering say £7m, you could make a case for the sale (provided a high quality, younger replacement is immediately brought in). Personally would pull all out the stops to keep him.

More worried about tieing down Morgan to be honest. His contract is up at the end of next season and can see all the big clubs being after him. He will want (and be justified in asking for, IMO) a large basic wage and possibly a minimum fee release clause as well. The Don is going to have get his negotiating head on for that one.

Surely it would be a great fit

Thy like to sign players with no eye on the future and no re sale value??

On another note. If we stay up and sell him. That would be utterly insane

You also said that if NC sacks Adkins now he's and idiot (or words to that effect)

Nothing would surprise me now knowing what NC is capable of.

I'm still hoping that West Ham will be the team that gets dragged down into relegation after a reasonably good start to the season. Seems to happen to one team most years, and they're not doing so well now.

In which case they (and QPR of course) will be skint and in the championship agai , so definitely not bidding high for any of our players.

Lambert has said that he wants to see out his playing days at St Marys, but as we know if the Don along with MP thinks it is time for him to move on and get someone else in for the good of the club, he will be gone.

Totally agree, it will be on our terms if he is sold.

I would be upset if he did go but If they would bring in someone with real quality then I would be delighted.

Rickie is not an Andy Carroll type player because Rickie is an excellent footballer and not just a target man who they can lump the ball up to. He won't go, he's still our most vital attacking player and will continue to be IMO.

It's amazing how many people believe he is though.

Try convincing them he is so much more, it's a tough ask.

I dont think the story is a lie, it´s likely that any team in the league want great players.

But we wont sell unless it´s a crazy sum offered and I think Rickie likes to play football instead of hoofball so he wont go to West Ham.

Maybe just Allardyce trying to make a story to disturb our club in the relegation battle....
