reader1234 Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 My ticket for the QPR game arrived this morning so really looking forward to the game. It reminded me of my first ever saints game was QPR v saints at Loftus road, a 1-1 draw with Terry Pain scoring for us. I also went to the home game which was a situation not dissimilar to the one faced in a couple of weeks time. QPR were rooted to the bottom of the table. We were 0-2 down with twenty minutes to go but went on to win 3-2. Does anyone remember this game? Great game, great atmosphere great result. Lesson of the day.... never underestimate the opposition.
reader1234 Posted 14 February, 2013 Author Posted 14 February, 2013 these games were from the 1968/69 season
saints-cris Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 My first ever Saints game was at Loftus Road - '96 I think. We lost 3-0. Set the tone
Saint Mikey Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 I have been mascot against QPR, both away (1986ish) and home (1990). Won both games 3-1 and 4-1. Matty scored a hatrick in the home game. Always liked going to games against them...
JRM Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 QPR have sold out 3100 as well so should be a decent game atmosphere .

However, relatively the Saints team of 69 was better off in the table as not long before we had thrashed Chelsea to go 5th and we eventually finished 7th to qualify for europe.
Andre Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 This will be a hell of a game, two sides fighting for survival, and some relatively bad blood with Redknapp. Bring it on!
skintsaint Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 I have been mascot against QPR, both away (1986ish) and home (1990). Won both games 3-1 and 4-1. Matty scored a hatrick in the home game. Always liked going to games against them... Volunteer to be a mascot again. Would take either result! Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

I attended the 3-2 game, First game I'd ever sttod up at the Dell, previously to that I always amanged to get a a seat at the games I attended so remember it well. In those days you had to get to the ground before the gates opened to get a good view if like me you were 9years old, unlike now when I roll in 5mins before kick off I managed with my Dad to get to the front row under the West Stand. I think QPR had Rodney Marsh playing up front for them
Crazy Diamond Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 Seem to remember a very early goal from Jermaine Wright putting us 1 - 0 up only to see us feck it up, losing 2 - 1, when we were destined for the Championship title having spent £7m. QPR meanwhile were skint with Daniel Nardiello up front and John Gregory managing. Year before that Ian Holloway brought his side and we got a 1 - 1 draw. Danny ****tu scored and the chant 'chim chimeny chim chimeny chim chim cheroo, who needs Sol Campbell, we've got ****tu' was sung...
sotonjoe Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 My ticket arrived before the season started, because I put my money where my mouth is and brought a season ticket. I'm really ****ed off with the new cards though, because when I wave mine at plastics like the OP it looks like I'm waving my credit card.
Saint Mikey Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 Are you the mascot again? That would help! Well, I turn up to every home game wearing the full kit (under a long mac), so I'll be ready if called upon...

Dr Who? Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 89/90 season was my first away game, and we won 1-4! Great game.
oldsarum Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 QPR have sold out 3100 as well so should be a decent game atmosphere . just over 700 left currently online mostly in the Chapel so should be a sell out
Stud mark of doom Posted 14 February, 2013 Posted 14 February, 2013 89/90 season was my first away game, and we won 1-4! Great game. I was at that game too - fantastic performance. The week later we beat champions Liverpool 4 - 1. Jason Dodd's first two games I think.
reader1234 Posted 15 February, 2013 Author Posted 15 February, 2013 I remember the Rodney Marsh free kick that was their second goal.
dellboypete Posted 15 February, 2013 Posted 15 February, 2013 I remember the away game at LR earlier this season! - they were utter crap and Hughes didn't last long after that. Probably the worst side I've seen this season
danner Posted 15 February, 2013 Posted 15 February, 2013 Will be in tenerife can you stream footie okay on an ipad ???? In case cant find a Saints pub !!

SNSUN Posted 19 February, 2013 Posted 19 February, 2013 Game now sold out. We need a bigger ground FFS... This. I just decided to go too. Gash.
the saint in winchester Posted 19 February, 2013 Posted 19 February, 2013 We are now selling out almost every game. If we stay up this season, the stadium extension has to happen.
Crazy Diamond Posted 19 February, 2013 Posted 19 February, 2013 The other scorer died I believe. Indeed, Ray Jones.
Graffito Posted 19 February, 2013 Posted 19 February, 2013 The resemblance is uncanny. Wish we could send him down Niagra Falls in a barrel.
Dr Who? Posted 19 February, 2013 Posted 19 February, 2013 Going to be interesting this game. Hoping for a seat near the dugout, but think they may all be gone.

SammyJ Posted 19 February, 2013 Posted 19 February, 2013 Bought a ticket for me and my father-in-law the morning they went on sale for fear of missing out! It will be his first Saints match since 1976 when he was a regular! Only my second game of the season after Newcasle. Is this the first time Redknapp has been back at St Mary's?

Dark Munster Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 The resemblance is uncanny. Wish we could send him down Niagra Falls in a barrel. Me too, except forget the barrel.
Appy Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 I think it is his first visit back..! It is indeed.
Bearsy Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 Once we've established comfortable 3 goal lead i would find a simple refrain of "Ur Going Down With Ur 'Arry" most acceptable.
dubai_phil Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 I do hope Turks is handing out Harlem Shake dance steps cheat sheets to the Northam for this game. (think it's about as twitchy as a crowd could ever get.......)

'76 - What a year - graduated, got married, hottest summer on record and there is some other unforgettable event that happened but seems to have slipped my mind!! :)
PhilippineSaint Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 '76 - What a year - graduated, got married, hottest summer on record and there is some other unforgettable event that happened but seems to have slipped my mind!! :) got bit to death (nearly) by the plague of ladybirds at Lepe beach?
red&white56 Posted 20 February, 2013 Posted 20 February, 2013 Once we've established comfortable 3 goal lead i would find a simple refrain of "Ur Going Down With Ur 'Arry" most acceptable. As was sung at Villa, "Down with the Redknapp, going down with the Redknapp". Happy to change Redknapp to Redcrap - but agree we really need to be sure of winning before rolling this one out!
