saints v QPR

My ticket for the QPR game arrived this morning so really looking forward to the game.

It reminded me of my first ever saints game was QPR v saints at Loftus road, a 1-1 draw with Terry Pain scoring for us.

I also went to the home game which was a situation not dissimilar to the one faced in a couple of weeks time. QPR were rooted to the bottom of the table. We were 0-2 down with twenty minutes to go but went on to win 3-2. Does anyone remember this game?

Great game,great atmosphere great result.

Lesson of the day.... never underestimate the opposition.

I was at the game as 68-69 was my first season actually going to games. However, relatively the Saints team of 69 was better off in the table as not long before we had thrashed Chelsea to go 5th and we eventually finished 7th to qualify for europe.

I have been mascot against QPR, both away (1986ish) and home (1990). Won both games 3-1 and 4-1. Matty scored a hatrick in the home game. Always liked going to games against them...

Volunteer to be a mascot again. Would take either result!

I attended the 3-2 game, First game I'd ever sttod up at the Dell, previously to that I always amanged to get a a seat at the games I attended so remember it well.

In those days you had to get to the ground before the gates opened to get a good view if like me you were 9years old, unlike now when I roll in 5mins before kick off

I managed with my Dad to get to the front row under the West Stand.

I think QPR had Rodney Marsh playing up front for them

Seem to remember a very early goal from Jermaine Wright putting us 1 - 0 up only to see us feck it up, losing 2 - 1, when we were destined for the Championship title having spent £7m. QPR meanwhile were skint with Daniel Nardiello up front and John Gregory managing.

Year before that Ian Holloway brought his side and we got a 1 - 1 draw. Danny ****tu scored and the chant 'chim chimeny chim chimeny chim chim cheroo, who needs Sol Campbell, we've got ****tu' was sung...

The other scorer died I believe.

Bought a ticket for me and my father-in-law the morning they went on sale for fear of missing out! It will be his first Saints match since 1976 when he was a regular! Only my second game of the season after Newcasle.

Is this the first time Redknapp has been back at St Mary's?

Kelvin Davis had an absolute shocker that day.

'76 - What a year - graduated, got married, hottest summer on record and there is some other unforgettable event that happened but seems to have slipped my mind!! :):):)

Once we've established comfortable 3 goal lead i would find a simple refrain of "Ur Going Down With Ur 'Arry" most acceptable.

As was sung at Villa, "Down with the Redknapp, going down with the Redknapp". Happy to change Redknapp to Redcrap - but agree we really need to be sure of winning before rolling this one out!
