Noodles34 Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 I have to take a couple of customers to the Liverpool game, in hospitality! Certainly not paying for a box, loathed to pay £200 for the Gold Package (buffet meal FFS). Anyone know of the other options? What was the deal with that lounge with a cash bar and food available, is that still on? Anyone try it, any good? Do get a reduced rate if you are a STH? Would appreciate any feedback, FWIW would much rather be in me own seats in the Itchen North.

richie Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 I did a box for my stag for the Walsall game, last game in L1. Quality day but back then the top package was better as it was a free bar and ulimited drinks so we just got hammered. PLus they let us stay on for an extra hour or so then the usaul licking out time. The price has gone up which is fair enough but what you get has decreased!! minime Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 the lounge area was sold at at the start of last week...i know this as i tried to get 3 tickets for it....only boxes were available
Bucks Saint Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 I paid £156 at Villa Park in their Sky Lounge. Was basically a simple bar and lounge area, with outside seats on a high up balcony. Price did not include any food (simple buffet available) and the only drinks that were free were at half time (sank 2 pints even though it was freezing). Very expensive for what it was, which was not much, but this was Villa's cheapest option and Saints were down as Cat C equivalent (fair enough). Noodles34 Posted 12 February, 2013 Author Share Posted 12 February, 2013 the lounge area was sold at at the start of last week...i know this as i tried to get 3 tickets for it....only boxes were available yeah, just rang the club. The only seats they have are box seats at £125 each, thought "thats not too bad.." but then she added that includes sweet FA, drinks on top, ok fair enough, but the best bit was that you had to buy food as well, but no hot food would be available, only sandwiches wnad wraps etc, WTF? A great way to entertain clients... with a cheese sandwich. They do hot food for the other boxes, so why not these ones. ****ing £125 for a seat FFS. JRM Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 Have they already sold out the normal hospitality for this then? normal match tickets aren't even on sale. as a heads up, if Liverpool get through against Zenit St Petersburg (first leg away this Thursday, second leg next week) then our game will be moved to Sunday March 17th

FloatingbridgeSaint Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 I took the kids to the Chelsea FA Cup game & we were in a box. Seating & view decent but service from the staff was terrible. We ordered drinks at the start of half time which we still had not received by the end of half time by which you have to vacate the inside part & any remaining drinks are cleared by the waiting staff - which is all very well provided we actually had got the drinks in the first place. It seemed a bit of a shambles to be honest as I overheard lots of other people complaining. Fortunately we had smuggled in some grub with us so the kids were not complaining too much however for what you would expect from hospitality this fell way short of expectations. My advice would be to order drinks early & double up on them too to save having to re order. Perhaps even entertain them food wise somewhere local first before the game? Hope this helps! trousers Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 I've said this before, but if someone pays for a product or service and it falls short of the expected or advertised quality then the consumer is entitled to a refund. The dictionary definition of "hospitality" is: 1. Cordial and generous reception of or disposition toward guests. 2. An instance of cordial and generous treatment of guests. If SFC "hospitality" falls short of this then they are in breach of the Sales of Goods Act.... http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/sale-of-goods-act/ Dull I know, but if more people lodged a claim against companies that don't deliver on what they offer for sale then they might actually do something about it rather than rely on the apathy of the great British public. Rant over.
Faz Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 Book standard seats. Book a nice restaurant before the game, a couple of bottles of nice wine, and a taxi to take you to and fro. You'll have change from £450.
AK Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 I used to take a box or a table 3/4 times a season but I wouldn't do it now as it is completely overpriced and basically crap .Go to Oxfords or similar and have better food / service and wine or beer.Grand Cafe do a booze included package 3 course lunch for around £50. Remember SFC prices don't normally include VAT but you can't legally reclaim VAT on entertaining so it might be even more expensive than you think. Rant over. Sorry. This is nonsense. It's not the customers fault if products and services are crap, and it's not apathy to decide that you "won't buy that again". Thats the market. It's down to brands, businesses and services to be proactive, and find out why they're not selling as much as they could. In short, if your product is sh it, its your problem. Your potential customer base will just get on with the rest of their lives. Rant over.

ssaints Posted 12 February, 2013 Share Posted 12 February, 2013 I sometimes get taken into a box by one of our major sponsors and the food and service are always excellent, not as good as when we went in a large corporate area of Wembley for the JPT but not bad. SaintBobby Posted 13 February, 2013 Share Posted 13 February, 2013 The hospitality in the club lounge (season ticket = £1,100+) and the "upgrade" package (sit in your own box for an extra £30 per head) is utterly, utterly woeful. Avoid. I will not be renewing next season.

They had a box for 10 years or something but the price for the season almost doubled this year so they jacked it in and got season tickets in the Itchen instead, they now take their clients down Oxford Street before and after the game and just sit in the stand for the game. It's considerably cheaper and a much better experience by all accounts.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 14 February, 2013 Share Posted 14 February, 2013 Accountants out there - how is it possible to put a couple of season tickets or a box on the company? What do you record it as?

I hope these people are writing detailed letters to the club about their experience, along with their own ten point plan on how to improve things. Oh, and demands for a refund/high court writ. Oh, and a page ripped out of the dictionary with the word "hospitality" and its definition ringed in red. Otherwise its just "apathy" and their poor experience was actually all their fault. Bearsy Posted 14 February, 2013 Share Posted 14 February, 2013 Accountants out there - how is it possible to put a couple of season tickets or a box on the company? What do you record it as? I'm not an accountant but at McDonald's if a customer finds pube in their burger I give them a free refill on their sprite and i put it through as "pubic compensation". If the pube is ginger or grey tho i have to check with my manager cos we don't have any gingers or greys at my McDonalds and sometimes customers bring their own pubes to take advantage of free sprites. Noodles34 Posted 14 February, 2013 Author Share Posted 14 February, 2013 Accountants out there - how is it possible to put a couple of season tickets or a box on the company? What do you record it as? You just record it as that, you just cant claim the expense against tax (non tax deductible), technically you could also be had for a BIK (Benefit in Kind), depends if you can prove it is wholly and exclusively for biz purposes. So even if you want one ST through your co, you would be wise wise to buy two.

Football is by definition an entertainments industry, so surely I could ask for my money back for games in which I've only been minimally or negligibly entertained. But then I'm quite apathetic so maybe I can't be arsed.
