Saint J 77 Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 I was just reading the Steven Davis article on the echo website http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10218720.Davis__Saints_players_like_Poch_s_style/ It does seem Davis has enjoyed a new lease of life under Mauricio Pochettino and his style of play. I was just wondering though does anyone know what we eventually paid Rangers? I know we agreed to pay some money to Rangers but didn't the League stop us but grant us permission to play him until the Rangers situation was resolved? Apologies if this has been covered and its been sorted now, but could someone shed some light on what the resolution actually was?
ottery st mary Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 between 500k and 800k Nearer to 5 or 8......I want to be right for a change... I am always wrong......So my old lady tells me. lol
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Starting to look a bargain. Pocchettino clearly rates him, and his form of late has been very impressive. Long may it continue. And to think, many round here were using him as an example of how poor our summer transfer activity was. That list is looking shorter by the week.

They stopped us due to the wrangle between who officially held his contract, whether it was bought with the new purchase of RFC or not included, we agreed payment to ensure we could play him basically and I think it was around the 800k mark
ant Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 (edited) He's playing in his strongest position now which helps. Adkins did utilise Davis there towards the end of his reign, but for much of the first half of the season he was wasted at CDM. Definitely a square peg in a round hole there. So yes, he does seem to suit our current playing style but I don't think that's the only reason he's proving the doubters wrong. Edited 10 February, 2013 by ant

Horton Heath Saint Posted 11 February, 2013 Posted 11 February, 2013 He was MOM against City, chased everything. Brilliant.
saintbob40 Posted 11 February, 2013 Posted 11 February, 2013 He was playing out of position under Adkins and isn't a defensive midfielder. Same for JWP.
dubai_phil Posted 11 February, 2013 Posted 11 February, 2013 He was playing out of position under Adkins and isn't a defensive midfielder. Same for JWP. So we had Davis & JWP as AM's And the transfer committee bought in Gaston. Although the turn round in Davis form (and to an extent Jos) IF whatever was done to cause it was applied to Gaston & Mayuka (even Tadanari Lee) life in the PL could be very interesting
Bucks Saint Posted 11 February, 2013 Posted 11 February, 2013 He was playing out of position under Adkins and isn't a defensive midfielder. Same for JWP. We did not have Cork available. Horses for courses, NA was no fool

twopintsnilnil Posted 12 February, 2013 Posted 12 February, 2013 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/8495252/ and the Rangers Forum on the return of SD.... http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=247205 He needs to be careful. Those comments will not endear, and I don't think he has the natural home in Glasgow that he thinks he has.
Thedelldays Posted 12 February, 2013 Posted 12 February, 2013 We did not have Cork available. Horses for courses, NA was no fool Then why was lambert randomly dropped and played out of position?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 12 February, 2013 Posted 12 February, 2013 and the Rangers Forum on the return of SD.... http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=247205 He needs to be careful. Some pretty nasty stuff on that Rangers forum, but the idea that being paid of lot of money to play your football in the Premier League is some jock's idea of 'rotting' away your career is somewhat amusing.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 12 February, 2013 Posted 12 February, 2013 Davis was heading for a dismal period under Adkins and I for one was not too impressed with him. However, under Pochi he's a different player I have to say and for me MOTM against City. Hope he continues to do well here.
