Newcastle Build-up

Not sure why people are so desperate to see Forren in the 11. The back 4 have done fine, we also have Fonte available today who has been our best CB this season. Forrren will get his chance, but not just for the sake of it.

Agree with that in principle, although given our transfer policy is only to bring in players that are better than what we've got it would appear slightly odd not to include said "better player"...

Well, he's a better option that Aaron Martin and Seaborne as the 4th CB - so I'd say we've got a player better than what we had!

Very, very happy with that team. Lallana was our best player first part of season, and if he's back on full song, I'm excited. Puncheon, Ramirez available as impact subs. Slightly surprised that Jos in ahead of Jose. But he's been strong last few games. Maybe the early problems weren't so much him as lack of Cork. Exciting couple of hours ahead...

Hmm, Lallana back as captain... Maybe being given a chance to fail in that role? Punch out is a big miss - but still optimistic of a result.

Oh and if gtomlinson is reading, here is the song we sing every game without fail. It's been number 1 in Southampton for the last 10 years, and we don't even bother to change the lyrics for venue or team

No way Lallana was our best player he scored two goals. But let's hope he does well.

I'm genuinely surprised that bookies have Newcastle twice as likely to win as Saints given recent form of both teams. If I could bet legally on this from the US, I'd be popping a few on Saints at 12 to 5... But we shd make no mistake: win a giant result for us. Draw wd be great too.

Slightly harsh on punch but MP saidd he euld make changes based on training performances so AL has obviously impressed the new man. Its strange Ye gas only been here a month and I already have full confidence that he will choose the right XI.

Big pith at SJP I'd like to see Mayuka off the bench.

Santon is their RB who is left footed, punch would look to cut in on the left, maybe with j-rod/AL the plan is to play down the right on his weaker side?

ur point is right but you got it wrong way round, Santon is their LB who is right footed. Punch would of got little change cutting inside Santon. He's v.quick Santon i was hoping he was injured cos he was missing midweek.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew lost the reverse fixture against his former club in November and going into today's game he says: "It's going to be dear to my heart to win this game, trust me, so I won't be pulling any punches in my dressing room."

lol @ pardew pulling off punch in the dressing room!
