Newcastle Build-up

Looking forward to the game, think it could go either way rally. HBA not playing would be a far bigger plus than Krul missing, as HBA is a game changer I think we'd have some trouble containing if he played.

Newcastle have their tails up and have decent quality though I'd trust our Manager to make the better adjustments as the game goes on as we all know what Pardew is like tactically during games.

Our form is better and while we'd all like to be looking up the table we're only 3pts away from the **** so tomorrow is a big opportunity to do something against a team we should be giving a proper game.

It would probably be fair to start with the same team that started against Man City but I would prefer Shaw in at left back just to give a bit more reassurance to everyone.

To have Ramirez and Lallana on the bench on merit is a nice feeling though!

I'm picturing gtomlinson as their famous fan with the moobs and he likes to tell a few porkies

Leave Southampton alone

Bringing less fans than Wigan..just embarassing. Worst away numbers all season

Look, you've taken the smallest allocation of the season. Nothing to be ashamed of. Just one of those things! Man up

http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/Match/Report/0,,10278~2999440,00.html

Wigan took 279 there (300 mile round-trip), he reckons we're taking less.

If you're one of our numpties posting on there wind it in but before you do just let tommy know we're taking 1,700 (650 mile round-trip) sold out over a week ago - don't know why we didn't take a further allocation as we'd obviously sold more.

Pretty much what they brought here isn't it?

H

Someone living in Southampton that supports united. I've heard the views of many if these, tend to be nice until their team beats you and all of a sudden saints are poor. The only view of a united fan that remotely mattered was that of fergie saying we were the best team to play there this year. By the way Ryan giggs has been a very good player for a long time, thought that view would interest.

I'm pretty happy that your lot did a job on Qpr today, you're good for that.

Feel free to read through my posts they're mainly level headed and not reactionary when you lose. I dont have an emotional connection so I'm much less likely to go into a meltdown after losing than you. The only bad words ivehad to say about your club is when you sacked adkins and hired pochettino.

Youre being a knob for the sake of it

We are Southampton.

We are having a buzz about us after our last game.

We have a full team to pick from.

Teams around us have struggled this weekend.

The stage is set for us to place ourselves a couple of wins from probable safety.

What can possibly go wrong?

Oh yeah, we are Southampton. We know what we're going to do.

Ho hum. Go find the Valium for this evening's postings on here

At least you can get through the match with the aid of alcohol, being amongst fellow Saints, and having the added bonus of a beautiful sunset on the beach with scantily clad totty all around and the sideshow of Man City handing the title to Man U despite Torres missing 3 open goals!!

Me - hitting the refresh button on BBC Text every 2 seconds whilst stone cold sober. Don't even have the luxury of the soothing tones of Merry Davington to get me through the ordeal FFS.

After this weekend I'm not sure I could ever look at a drink again. Bloody Eric & his Margheritas Thursday followed by the 18 quid a pint beers that left a sour taste.

Mikie can you ping everyone on dubaisaints FB page for me? having IT problems today and cannot get on there - cheers

Apologies if our defensive setup has already been covered over the last 8 pages, but for me, Hooiveld must play today. They have a dynamic and pacy offense, but with the absence of HBA they will rely heavily on long balls. That coupled with Cisse's strong physique puts us well into Hooiveld territory IMHO.

Is Cisse strong in the air? His lack of physicality is one of his weaknesses. They've arguably lost some of that with Ba's departure.

Just got back from my team rendezvous for a 12 o'clock kick off as the game was called off due to snow. At least we avoided an hour and a quarter's drive but now I'm worried as I'll be able to watch on-line. Not sure if this is a good thing or not... not feeling that confident.

Missing the game today as I promised to take my mum to the theatre long before I knew it was a Sunday 1:30pm kick off.

Looks like highlights are on Sky Sports 1 at 10pm and MOTD2 at 10:25pm

I wonder if I can avoid the result for that long, or even if I want to?

I'm not so confident we will get a positive result today. We havent played for 2 weeks and although thats good for giving players a chance to get over injuries the break disrupts a team that were buzzing after the City result. I wouldnt be surprised to see a flat performance today.......obviously i want the complete opposite and for us to play like world beaters again but i'm trying to be realistic.

Looking forward to this one, with the way both sides play, I can only see one winner based on the most effective style!

No draw, a win by a clear 2 goal margin at least. Which way? Unclear and remains to be seen.

Pfft have some faith. 3-1 Saints. Lambert Punch and Gaston after coming on second half

Tend to agree, that break last week probably didnt do us any favours. I always hate the "we have had two good weeks on the training ground" statement which usually means we go all to hell.

Some of the "City effect" is bound to have worn off.

As long as we beat that saggy chopped tax evader next week. One win from these two games will be ok especially as results went for us yesterday.

Ah, the "Likely Lads" scenario (one for the teenagers). That involved a Toon game of course. As I recall, the game they were avoiding hearing about had been postponed.

Jack Cork to score a screamer today. I'm talking a Matty Oakley vs the skates type of screamer. Hopefully as the winner in the 94th minute. Be nice to see Lambert on the scoresheet today as well.

Being honest, I think it's too tough to call today. Our performances since MP came in have been good, but we haven't quite picked up the points they've warranted. SJP is a tough place to go no matter who you are. We'll need to be at our best to win.

@SouthamptonFC: This afternoon's team news is moments away. What's your predicted starting XI? #saintsfc

I'm hoping for...

Boruc, Clyne, Maya, Jos, Shaw, Cork, Morgan, Davis, Punch, JayRod, Lambert

Obviously Lallana starting would be great too but none of the wingers/attackers deserve to be dropped. COYR
