The last post on that thread - "we're taking Europe seriously (Europe, Southampton fans is where you go abroad and play other teams for all those reading from Saints Web) and feel our squad is up to it." Do the Geordies not know of our infamous Europa League run of 2003-04?

I think Mr gtomlinson hasn't quite understood your tongue-in-cheek remark, you have a response.....

"Restark19....of course we remember, it's in folklore that UEFA Cup run.

Your brave one round appearance with the ginger whinger in charge.

I fondly remember your Cup Winners Cup season of 76/77 beating the giants of European Football...Carrick Rangers"

BTW Mr gtomlinson, we got knocked out in the quarters after having Anderlect on the ropes until the mighty Jim Steele f*cked one up, second division side then too!

In fairness he's predicted we would have 23 points by now - we only have 27 so not too bad. Take away the Man C game which nobody expected us to win and he's 1 point out from 100%

He is also only on 23 correct results out of 260 games.

I´m better than that on our fantasy league here at my work....have to this date 35 correct results, not that I want to be bragging about it...... :)

Mauricio Pochettino:

"Shaw and Ramirez are being considered, most are 100% ready to play. But it is down to me who starts."

"We might play the same team from Man City, but we pay special attention in training and I am not afraid to make changes."

"The players are happy with double training sessions and taking well to it to improve themselves."

for me.

So you would drop Davis and Rodriguez?? Did you watch the ManCity game? Or Wigan for that matter? Ramirez should be no way near the first XI and Steven Davis should be one of the first names on it. In Davis, Cork and Morgan we have a midfield 3 that can control the game against most sides in this division. It does amaze me how Ramirez gets into so many people's teams. Baffling really.

Been so long since the City game I forgot who it was who played. I stand corrected mate - Davis and JayRod in my lineup. Drop Ramirez and Lallana.

yep

although, I would think he wont even make the bench..been out for a while

my team..

Boruc

Clyne

Forren

Yoshida

shaw

morgan

cork

Puncheon

Davis

Rodriguez

Lambert

subs.

davis

hooiveld

richardson/fox

lallana

ramirez

mayuka

JWP

If Forren is what we hope for, then this is currently our strongest starting line up . Davis suited perfectly to the Poch' way and JRod is like new and improved signing .

Should be a good day !

some guy called "gtomlinson" on that toon forum was just comparing us with Barcelona! I think he is getting a bit ahead of himself but it is v.nice to read these comments from opposition fans.

gtomlinson also puts us and "giants of european football" in same sentence. gtomlinson i should say is certainly v.impressed by southampton. Either that or all the walking round with no shirt on has got him a headcold.

He certainly aint got the hang of you yet Bearsy.....

"I see that SaintsWeb has taken my comment out of context.

I didn't say Southampton were like Barcelona.

I said the way their fans were going on you'd think we're about to play Barcelona. They are an average PL side (much like us at times but with a worse squad)

Whilst they are massively overachieving this season by not being relegated already, we are massively underachieving"

i wish gtomlinson would make his mind up. It's v.annoying when people don't have courage to stand by their opinions of southampton being better than barcelona.
