Saint Garrett Posted 19 February, 2013 Share Posted 19 February, 2013 Richardson or fox. Not many teams in prem that are that strong and mayuka I feel will come good. Not sure why you'd have both Fonte and Forren on the bench though. Chaplow/Guly/JWP on the bench for me.

Window Cleaner Posted 19 February, 2013 Share Posted 19 February, 2013 (edited) Boruc Clyne yoshida Forren shaw Cork Morgan Jrod. Ramirez Lallana Srl Subs: Davis, Richardson, Fonte, Jwp, Davis, Puncheon, mayuka too many changes. Newcastle's strong point is their midfield, Ramirez,Lallana and JRod have very few defensive abilities, Cork and Morgan would be swamped. I'd just put Shaw in for Fox and leave the rest of the side as it was against Citeh. Edited 19 February, 2013 by Window Cleaner
Supersubpuckett Posted 19 February, 2013 Share Posted 19 February, 2013 i think we're due a rubbish defeat - there's been too much said about our pressing game and entertaining football, we also usually crash back to earth if we beat a top side
110_Persaint Posted 19 February, 2013 Author Share Posted 19 February, 2013 Yep, I'd go with something similar (+1 on bench to make 7). That's a premier league quality bench....first time this season we can say that probably The fact that at least four of those six (one short of seven) are by 90% of fans' estimations in our strongest starting XI when fit sort of takes away from your point. I spent three weeks in Manila visiting my daughter over Christmas and was surprised how poor the TV coverage was - they seem to be obsessed with basketball which is rather odd considering that Filipinos are not exactly tall. The9 Posted 20 February, 2013 Share Posted 20 February, 2013 I missed the "front sweeper" meme, but it seems a bit mean spirited given that the traditional sweeper/libero was just as likely to operate in front of the defensive line as behind it. A sweeper who only plays behind the back line is specifically a catenaccio. If you're taking the rise because the chosen player is probably not the best for that role (Richardson FFS?!), or that it's basically just deploying a defensive midfielder and the fact we already have two of those has not been noticed by the OP, then fair enough. Basketball your right an obsession it is the national sport after hakensac keep the bean bag in the air which nobody plays. but as has been mentioned before there are some football pitch's popping up and teams forming so it might start to get better coverage down here. To be fair it was mostly that the reason we needed a "front sweeper" was that Morgan doesn't tackle or operate defensively and only passes sideways. You do wonder what game some people are watching at times.

So "that it's basically just deploying a defensive midfielder and the fact we already have two of those" then, along with some general ignorance about what Schneiderlin does and how well he does it. Ok, thanks for the context. Though if he's going to spend all match pressing opposing centre backs maybe we DO need a front sweeper.
