SaintBobby Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 It's hard to watch this interview on the BBC website and believe otherwise. He nearly cuts off the translator at one point. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21311313 He also clearly chats to oncoming subs on the touchline. Genius.
skintsaint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 I think he understands and speak English well enough. Sensible to use a translator as any miscommunication will be swarmed on by the media in a negative way after NAs sacking. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Olallana Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 The best example would be the pre-match conference thursday when he suddenly speaks english without even noticing it himself for a few seconds...
suewhistle Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 As one of the ex-professional commentators on my stream commented, in his experience they always speak a lot more than they let on.

Sensible to use a translator as any miscommunication will be swarmed on by the media in a negative way after NAs sacking. Absolutely!...a point I made on another thread recently. He's not daft enough to let himself open to those "awkward " media questions before he feels ready ..he needs to get " Saints Fit " .
georgeweahscousin Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Lallana said 'the gaffers English is coming on' in the Sky Sports interview yesterday. I think it is clear that he understands English, but as yet is uncomfortable conversing to the media. Fair enough. Would be the worst place to make a mistake, they would be all over it like a tramp on discarded chips!
lifeintheslowlane Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 ...I wouldn't care if he was green and came from the planet Zog...he's obviously getting his message across to the players.

Genius. when Fox had to go off he gave the change around instructions to Morgan in French, told him to drop off to the left to bolster any weakness Clyne might find on that side. Seemed to speak to Richardson as well though.

Dr Who? Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 All seriousness, I am sure he knows a few languages, and will pick up English easy. Some people can. I am not one of these people. Find English hard enough, and it is my mother tongue
Window Cleaner Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 How close do you sit? 5 yards away from a pretty big flat screen with a replay facility. Not a great lip reader but I've got sort of basic skills in that area. Worked with a deaf and dumb bloke for a few years. Took a good look at the incident after the game.

Can we get him to sing " Don't cry for me Pochettino "
L1Minus10 Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 He clearly understands what interviewers are asking him before the interpreter translates it.
