Only showed all our goals and most of our chances as well as Jonathan Pearce saying it was a definite pen. Shearer also said several times we were brilliant and whilst city were bad take nothing away from us. I wish these clueless. Biased pundits would shut up, they don't have a clue what they are on about.

How dare Shearer say we were brilliant. Doesn't he remember we launched his career, FFS.

Yeh, I preferwooden f^cker Andy Tw^tsend on ITV pretending we did not exist, and did not play a part in bringing him from non-league obscurity to srtart his career.

Well said Turkish. Garth Crooks said we were lucky to be 2-0 up as City had us camped in our own half until then. The BBC agenda runs deep.

And did he stress the "camp"ness of all this ? Allegedly.

What a shame it was on ESPN as we don't all get to see a more balanced view from the atrocious BBC edit on Footie first.

Johnathan Pearce also has spent far too much time with our fishy friends while we were away from the prem.

I don't understand the comments above. Sounds like a fair reflection on the game, giving a lot of credit to Saints. Even sounds like, if anything, maybe biased towards Saints (tho can't tell from the snippets alone).

Can the posters above please clarify how they reached their conclusions, as they seem fairly incongruous with the evidence presented to me.

How cork wasn't in the motd team of the week is beyond me. Don't they see what we did today? We played City off the pitch, in every single position. And Cork out shone Toure by a country mile.

Think you've fallen out of context. You need to be in p1sstake mode.

All XI should have been the team of the week IMO. Never happen with the BBC.

Boll**ks thread - shame the day we beat the champions, there are people having to crow and point score - (and think its funny). Enjoy the result as a SAINTS fan and leave it at that ffs.

Lawrenson looked like he was sucking a lemon.

Not f-ing good enough.

He should have ripped his shirt off and self-flagellated there and then on live TV.

Appallingly bad punditry. I think I might have to write a letter to the BBC.

I have nothing but absolute rage and anger feelings towards the bbc. I could not enjoy the game and am unable to get on with my life because I am so self consumed with hate for the BBC.

Are you Mr Logic from Viz ?

Seeing as MOTD is recorded a lot earlier in the evening. Doubt they had a chance to watch any of the game or get any decent highlights edited.

MOTD is live.

Alan Shearer's spoonerism makes me wonder if that's how the Chinese pronounce it - "Licky Rambert".

Licky Rambert did it to himself on that Crossbar challenge filmed at the Montjuic stadium in Barcelona recently, since he did it it does stick in your head a little bit.

My issue with MOTD is not the "clowns in the studio" who like most of the media know very little about what is going on at Southampton, but with the person who cuts the video highlights.

For example, on Sat it would have been nice to see some of the 5 min period after we were 3-1 up where Saints were totally in charge, almost "taking the p*ss" out of city. For me that would have BEST shown how completely Saints "WON THE GAME" with their pressing game and how city were defending as individals and not as "a team".

But instead they showed moments like a city player shooting at the TV screens as if to make out it was city playing badly rather than Saints playing well.

Did he really say this??!! I will have words if so! (our daughters are in the same class).

But this is factually complete tosh - surely the stats prove it?

We were all over them like a cheap suit.

He did, I looked at BBC live match feed on the way back from the game and that was his comment after we had gone 2 up. Smack him round the chops next time you see him.

Hmm, not sure about that - he's a big lad! But I will have a word. Anything that gives me a chance to chat up his missus!! ;)

Funny though, I could have sworn that we could have been three up by then!

Don't talk rubbish, the MotD review was quite fair and Alan Shearer really meant what he said about is being brilliant, you could tell he was proud at that moment to have been a Saint once.
