Matthew Le Tissier Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Have I missed the Danny fox thread? Still Totally out of his depth Can't defend Positional play shocking And well so some say he's good going forward and he takes a mean dead ball!? I admit I was wrong with boruc, but fox is just not good enough at all. He won't be around much longer Fox shlt
Saint_Donovan Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 He did well today considering he's lacked first team action, only 1 or 2 dodgy moments.
Saint Garrett Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Thought he did well today. Yes he's inferior to Shaw but he's a more than capable backup. Give him some slack ffs, he ain't that bad at all
Saint_clark Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 One mistake in the first half and that is all. More than good enough as back up.
St Chalet Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Thought he did ok, quick ball to Lambert set up the second. Shaw will play when not injured, so not overly bothered.
Colinjb Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 He did what he had to do. Negativity after a performance right now is baffling.
Pamplemousse Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 He did well tonight and at Old Trafford too.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Yeah was ok today. Not too sure that hitting corners to him on the edge of the area is a good idea though. He'd actually called for a couple of the previous ones.
Huffton Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Have I missed the Danny fox thread? I admit I was wrong with boruc, but fox is just not good enough at all. He won't be around much longer Fox shlt Ah yes, the 'no Guly on the pitch so I need to find another scapegoat' thread:uhoh:
Wiggles31 Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 His long pass was instrumental in the second goal.
Wilko Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Why do we always have to moan about someting? Just enjoy the fact that we dicked the reigning champions.
Lazlo78 Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Ah yes, the 'no Guly on the pitch so I need to find another scapegoat' thread:uhoh: Yes, but it has those great exaggerations, so it's ok. "Totally out of his depth", "Can't defend", "Positional play shocking". Really sounds credible, dont you think?
ollysaints1 Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Fox was no worse than any other player in the Saints team today, he put in a monumental effort. Well done Foxy.
ant Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Can't defend Positional play shocking He was left outnumbered two-to-one during most of City's attacks! Jeez, that'll cause bother for even the most established of full backs. Fox has had poor spells for us but you can exclude today.
ottery st mary Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Fox played well and takes some shiiiite from some right idiots on this forum.. He was left exposed time and time again......possibly the way we are set up. More than good enough for back up to the exceptional Shaw... For those at the game ......quite clearly shown that Clyne can also fit in at LB as well. COYS
Saint Billy Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Firsy 15 mins he gave away sloppy passes but after that he was ok but will be glad when Luke comes back.
Graffito Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Well played Danny, especially as he didn't always have the best of cover in front of him.
GAS Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Well played Danny, especially as he didn't always have the best of cover in front of him.Its good to have depth in the squad and I think Fox for Shaw is great as is Richardson for Clyne. Solid enough. We won today at a canter with both on the pitch. Things are looking up.
Berkshire Saint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Thought he did well today. Yes he's inferior to Shaw but he's a more than capable backup. Give him some slack ffs, he ain't that bad at all This.
ThreeSixty Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Still gets far too square on and looks like we wants to hold the LCB's hand.
SaintBobby Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Fox was great today. If that's the quality of our back-up left back, I'm more than happy.
skintsaint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Played alright last night but just a bit peeved that on the corner that cost us the goal he didn't go for the header as it was clear it wasn't reaching him. Hardly all his own fault tho. **** corner and **** tracking back with more numbers. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
St Matty Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 What is the point of this thread? Do some people want to destroy him? He is picked by the Manager and the previous one so why don't we get behind him? Alternatively we could hound him out of the club that would be a great way of supporting our club.
Alain Perrin Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 I think the way we are now playing will suit Fox more. He's always been better going forward than defensively, mainly because of positional mistakes and the occasional concentration loss. As we press more he makes those mistakes on or around the halfway line rather than in our final third. It gives him more time to recover and his pace helps here. Shaw is better, but he's young. Fox is more than adequate backup,

eurosaint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Given that he has lost his starting place to a 17 year old and has had very little game time recently, he came in and did a good job against one of the top teams in the land, not sure what more he could have done ? I presume that the OP had a barney with his partner and came on here to get it out of his system ? Best to just kick the cat in private as you won't make yourself look an idiot in front of the Saintsweb faithful !! ( ps. sincere apologies to MLT's poor animal:) )
surrey1saint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Just about good enough today,as back up.
Saint Martini Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 He played 85 mins against Man Utd so him not having played much is a bit of a non-argument. Anyway, he did okay yesterday but he was at fault for their goal. Not because the set-play didn't work but because he didn't take up his regular position when he got back thus leaving our left flank wide open for Man City to attack. We had numbers back, more then enough. When Dzeko got the ball he was 1 against 4 and he had to hold up play. If Fox tracks the run on his side that goal probably doesn't happen (at least not as easily). Lets put it like this, his defensive instincts aren't the best. He didn't know what to do when he got back so he drifts inside, awful decision since we already had several players there.

Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2 ...actually you probably could blame Fox for that, as he had his arms in the air for about 30 seconds before the corner was taken asking for it to be playing to him.
del boy Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Why do we always have to moan about someting? Just enjoy the fact that we dicked the reigning champions. Exactly, celebrate a great night at St Mary's....together as one!
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 10 February, 2013 Author Posted 10 February, 2013 Exactly, celebrate a great night at St Mary's....together as one! Always room for improvement. I'm Amazed some of you rate him as a premiership player. He put a good shift in yes. And can fault his effort today and contributed to a great win. This doesn't hide the fact he is crap and is player well above his level in the premier league. He was completely at fault for one goal today and to say he was left exposed is nonsense . Its not negativity to suggest this after such a great win! Its being a realist . And to be fair I've said fox is out of his league since the start of the season so in not just picking him out as gully isn't playing. Gully and fox won't be around long term I can assure you that.
red&white56 Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Always room for improvement. Gully and fox won't be around long term I can assure you that. How can you assure us ? Do you know something we don'T?
lordswoodsaints Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Seems like he's in trouble - http://news.sky.com/story/1050008/fox-bites-off-babys-finger-in-cot-attack
Chin Strain Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Can you all come and speak to the couple behind me please. During yesterday's game it became apparent that Fox would appear to be to blame for global warming and all African famines, amongst other things. I recognise Fox has positional issues and isn't the best defender, but when he pings a peach of a cross field ball to Lambert and you hear 'Lambert made that a good ball' you sort of despair a bit. No mention of the quick thinking and quality ball for the first goal. They were having a go at him for pushing up the park...'what's he doing up there?'....erm, carrying out his managers instructions, compressing the play? Then again, it took 30 seconds for them to start their moaning yesterday, and I'm certain they will have found something to moan about all the way home last night. It was the same with Guly. He also has his obvious faults, but again when he was subbed in a game earlier this season having put in a good overall performance, despite them salvaging him for 70 minutes, he got a standing ovation. Same with last night when Fox goes off. You'd wonder if the penny would drop that maybe most other people are seeing different things. It's just so painful week in week out. I suppose they're the definition of a 'customer' and not a 'supporter'. If Fox had banged in a 40 yarder into the top corner last night it would have been the keepers fault, or he'd have miss hit it.

Jos laid into Clyne for the goal. Clyne didn't argue, he knew he should have taken a yellow for the team. Fox's quick thinking and superb ball to Lambert directly led to the 2nd goal. He was also. Left exposed on more than one occasion with him v two players. Yes he's not the best positionally, and I don't think he's PL class, but that's why he's back up to Shaw. We're not currently a big enough club to have two top drawer players in each position.

Was it these two by any chance?... Cos I'm sure they used to sit behind me when I had a ST a few years ago.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 10 February, 2013 Author Posted 10 February, 2013 I see what you say But if fox done this or done that etc? Maybe if he did people wouldn't criticise him . The way I look at it is. How many other premiership teams benches would he get on!? Let alone on the pitch. Good lower league player but he's no way a premiership player for many reasons. Its funny how people always blame him misfortune on him being left exposed! Just like everyone was saying when Lallana was in front of him!?? And apparently he was exposed yesterday for the goal lol!! Funny how Shaw doesn't have this problem getting exposed and making stupid mistakes.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 10 February, 2013 Author Posted 10 February, 2013 Clyne? The way I saw it he was trying to cover Danny fox's arse and was more in Danny's position than Danny himself .

I said that I don't think he's PL class and he has issues positionally. All I'm looking for is a bit more of a balanced view from the people sitting behind me - unfortunately some people just want / need a scape goat. Clyne may have been covering for Fox (that's what team mates do), but that doesn't exempt him from his share of the blame for not doing what he should have done.
S-Clarke Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Seems like Matthew Le Tissier enjoys making himself look a little silly.
Smirking_Saint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 He doesnt fill me with confidence but he didnt play that badly yesterday, I sort of hoped that he would have realised he wasnt getting the ball from the corner and would try to header it but alas he didnt. It was a stupid idea to clip it there anyway. The team should have been more wise to the brakeaway though, we didnt deal with it very well and it was a lucky goal for city too. Is he as good as Shaw ? No, but he wasnt that bad and we wouldnt have got anyone better to sit on the bench behind a young left back.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 10 February, 2013 Author Posted 10 February, 2013 The only silly people here are the muppets who think Danny fox is a premiership footballer. I love one of the comments! " we are not a big enough club to have quality cover in every position" lol Yea your right lets except the fact we have players who aren't very good but ok for cover lol.
