Saint Martini Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 If we take away the penalty decision and the 5 minutes of extra time he invented he had an ok match. He let the game flow and in general didn't start waving cards for no reason. But you're judged on the big decisions so a 5/10.
niceandfriendly Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 How did he not give that penalty? Was in a great position to give it. You just know if it had been Aguero against us who went down it would've been given. Thankfully it didn't matter in the end.
beatlesaint Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 The booking of Lambert was ridiculous, compounded when he didnt book Toure 5 mins later for a bad challenge.
Liquidshokk Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Linesman itchen side had worse game Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express
Saint Garrett Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Thought he was looking to even things up after we went ahead and was looking to give them any opportunity to get back in it. But second half he done ok. Had worse refs...
Turkish Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 I thought he was awful too. Looked a clear pen from my seat in block 3 and seemed to give them everything. It didn't matter in the end but thought he was poor.
110_Persaint Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Didn't he used to manage us? No that was his dad.
Saint Martini Posted 9 February, 2013 Author Posted 9 February, 2013 The booking of Lambert was ridiculous, compounded when he didnt book Toure 5 mins later for a bad challenge. No it wasn't. It was a textbook booking.
BadgerBadger Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 not as bad as the bellend of a lino who was all over the place
niceandfriendly Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 No it wasn't. It was a textbook booking. Yes Lambrt was behind him, but if putting a hand on another players torso is a textbook booking then we're in for a heeeeeeellll of a lot of bookings!
110_Persaint Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Never seen us been offside so many times in my life.
Saint Charlie Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 If Lambert deserved a booking then why did Hooiveld not get one for the Dzeko foul on the edge of the area. It was a worse foul in a more dangerous attacking area. No consistency. For me Atkinson is the worst Prem ref, he is clueless.
Saint Garrett Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Never seen us been offside so many times in my life. There were a few that completely baffled me. Lambert despite starting in front of a CB. and there was one that sticks in my mind Davis made a run very late, and got called up for offside when he must have been yards onside. Oh well - we won!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Useless Ref IMO - completely bottled what was a nailed on pen for us just before half time.
markr27 Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Slight improvement on his performance in the Saints/Newcastle game, but he was on a par with Peter Walton/Leeds that day so still dire.
chestersaint Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 I stand by my earlier post during the game. The man should be struck of, no excuse - 'As City made that final attack 35 seconds + after the injury time was up in the first half, I just watched the referee continue with the game until the ball ran to one of our defenders. At this point the ref lifted the whistle to blow until the ball went back to a City player, the whistle was immediately lowered until the ball was lost again to a saints player, where upon the ref blew up. Either time is up or it is not. It should not depend who is in possession of the ball. Now most of what the ref has done in the first half is subjective and a matter of opinion - that passage of play is not. If anyone gets a chance to review the game then look out for it. Something should be done because that without a shadow of a doubt is cheating.'
farawaysaint Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Never seen us been offside so many times in my life. David Mcgoldrick respectfully asks you to reconsider your response.
Suhari Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Didn't he used to manage us? Nah. That was his dad.
John Boy Saint Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 If you look at Citehs goal that came from Atkinson running across the line of sight of Cork just as he was about to lift it into the box he did this on more than one occasion.
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 9 February, 2013 Posted 9 February, 2013 Absolutely shocking Referee and a terrible performance from him today. Dreadful.

Dig Dig Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 He was trash. Gave City everything they wanted.
Graffito Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 He was cr@p and his linesmen kept giving offsides against Saints that weren't.
ottery st mary Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 The referee was very poor..and a tad over weight....If I may say so..
ant Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 OP must be having a giggle - he was beyond awful and his lino on the Itchen side was even worse. I know that referees are human and always likely to make the odd mistake, but it's the lack of consistency afforded that gets my goat.
GAS Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 If we take away the penalty decision and the 5 minutes of extra time he invented he had an ok match. He let the game flow and in general didn't start waving cards for no reason. But you're judged on the big decisions so a 5/10.I reckon he was a big club biased ref. Only because we are a clean team and played them off the park was there no oppurtunity for him to impact on the game, but I feel he was waiting to do us. But in no way is football corrupt!! or the Super Sunday clashes on SKY not so appealing once it's a one horse race!!
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Initially I thought pen, seeing the replay, I certainly would have been ****ed if it was given a against us.
Saint Billy Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Damn awful ref, reminded me of the refs we had to tolerate in the lower leagues.
Shanghai Saint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 The 5 minutes of extra time were inexplicable.
BlakeySFC Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Thought Atkinson and the Linesman on the Itchen side in the 1st half was absolutely terror.
SaintBobby Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Abysmal display by all the officials. A blind man can get 50% of the decisions right by tossing a coin. 2/10.
Winchester Red Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Why such surprise at the 5 extra minutes? 6 subs is always 3 minutes, plus trainer on for Fox, plus it took us an age to throw the ball back in most times. Plus it's Citeh innit!
david in sweden Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 How did he not give that penalty? Was in a great position to give it. You just know if it had been Aguero against us who went down it would've been given. Thankfully it didn't matter in the end. my point exactly. If cameras were used more in those sorts of situation, instead of the twice-a-season goal-line incidents... we'd have more balanced results. I'd like to have seen Joe Hart " penalty-saving genius(?)" ...facing up to Rickie Lambert !
rooney Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 A poor performamce by the ref. Why he did not give the Man City player a yellow card for diving on the edge of the penalty area at Chapel end bemuses me. He was only a few feet away too.
Window Cleaner Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Why such surprise at the 5 extra minutes? 6 subs is always 3 minutes, plus trainer on for Fox, plus it took us an age to throw the ball back in most times. Plus it's Citeh innit! Even MP was wasting time, picked the ball up, held on to it, talked to his assistant and then threw it back.
Andy Durman Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 You have to play against 12 to beat the big teams
Dr Who? Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Let it flow, but was giving them everything in the first half!
Saint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Not as bad as Peter Walton used to be. I hated his guts.
Huffton Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Initially I thought pen, seeing the replay, I certainly would have been ****ed if it was given a against us. Seriously? That was the most blatant foul i've seen not given. If it had been the other way round he would have given the pen, a red card, and probably had the Saints player executed in the centre circle. The bloke is an incompetent ****. Also does anyone else think their goal had a hint of offside about it? I paused it on MOTD last night, Dzeko looks a shade in front to me, not that it matters now...
JustinR Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Never seen us been offside so many times in my life. Papa Waigo
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Papa Waigo Never seen us been offside so many times in my life. Bradley Wright Phillips...
Wes Tender Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 Papa Waigo Papa Weigo was hardly ever offside. He was just too quick for the linos to keep up with him. But I am in total agreement with most on here, that the referee was extremely poor, as was the Itchen side lino. And anybody who had money on us beating them 4-1 can jusitfiably be livid that the nailed-on, dead-cert, stonewall penalty wasn't given. It was as blatant a penalty as I can ever remember. I don't think that I have heard any commentator defend the ref's decision on grounds that there was any element of benefit of the doubt, or that the ref was unsighted. It would be nice to believe that the incident will be assessed by the authorities and that accordingly Adkinson has a black mark against his name.
Ampersound Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 I stand by my earlier post during the game. skintsaint Posted 10 February, 2013 Posted 10 February, 2013 I thought the 4th official worked out the added time? The ref was awful but didn't matter in the end. Could of been 20mins added on..Citeh never had the ball...

He let the game flow and in general didn't start waving cards for no reason. But you're judged on the big decisions so a 5/10. He was bloody terrible, let Toure shirt pull for 4 different free-kicks before he booked him as well as the penalty non-call. Utterly shirked responsibility. Can't blame him for the offside decisions, but I'd like to see all of those again.
