I have in the past been scathing about Morgan, I now will concede that was a misjudgement. He seems to have become a different player since the new manager has arrived and now looks like a superb midfielder

Very surprised you didn't rate him Nick.

I think Spiderman has been our best player for many years with his reading of the game, ability to sweep up and start the next attack as well as a superb engine.

His signing for us during the Poortvielt era has always been one of life's mysteries.

No Nick it was not a misjudgement you were just wrong and do not try to use the arrival of MP as a justification
i was wrong and prepared to admit it, the reason he has changed my opinion is that the new manager has made him more effective ina more positive role

Scheiderlin has been immense all season, long before Pocchetino came in

This. Old nick take a look at yourself, Morgan has been a fine player for 3+ seasons now.

It's only the dinosaurs who didn't rate him. The sort who think just hoofing it forward means we are attacking.

He has been more than good since he joined.... And he joined when we we utter sh1te and been through the leagues with us...which makes it even more sweeter that he is doing the business in the top division

if you are aiming that at me you again have shown you have no idea. Until the new manager came in MS was a negative midfielder, never did he run 70yards to finish an attack before, he has changed his role and may at last be showing true class. Forget not he was a defensive midfielder in front of one of the worst defences in the league.

I at least have the backbone to admit I was wrong, unlike some I could point the finger at, lol

But Morgan Schneiderlin has always been class here, this is by no means a recent development. I really would not be that surprised if his national manager doesn't start to take notice before long ... he'd be a fool not to some might say.

MOst probably forget how young he still is given he has been with us for some time - and he is young in aposition that needs LOTS of experience and usuallly does not see players reach their best until 28 or so - so he has been at time sinconsistent, as Lallana was (and there were a fair few saying he would never be good enough) - think some fans are just forgetting that we have such a young squad and we get a bit impatient with these guys when they are inconsistent...

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Man United look at him as the replacement for Carrick.

Sadly this is very possible - MS has been pretty immence this season, but I think he is looking even better, because the system shows him at his best - MP has pushed everyone forward in the pressing, but also expects them to run end to end - he also rotates with Cork very well so that '2' in teh 4231 is really working well - and IMHO the '2' in that system are probably the most important players - going almost 2 1 6 1 when attacking as fullbacks and one of teh 2 push forward, but being modile enough to defend strongly in all areas when needed

Here here.

I was calling for his head after the WBA game. Shame on me.

I posted that he lacked heart after that game. I feel embarrassed about it now in retrospect and delighted to be wrong - he goes from strength to strength and surely a call up to the French squad must be imminent.

Good enough for any team in the Prem IMO.

He's always been class. Even his pre-season debut against WHU all those years ago showed how class he was.

Surprised he was ever doubted by anyone, to be honest.

And to think some people on here years ago blamed him for us going into admin just because we paid £1.1 mill for him, they also said he was the worst bit of business we had ever done

That thread was upped the other day, some comical comments on there if anyone can find it

Yes, thought he was pretty average in lge 1 and the champ but he's impressed me this season and under MP he's looked fantastic.

The Schneiderlin\Cork\Davis midfield appears to be relishing this high tempo pressing style of play.

Same with Puncheon, didn't think he was anything special in the lower leagues but boy has he looked the business in the prem.

Long may it continue.

Fair play to you for coming on and admitting it and you are not the only one that didn't rate him, like to hear from Derry for example, but Morgan's quality has been evident from day one.

Always said he's absolute class and is now starting to look genuinely world class. I hope to fuc.k we hold on to him (and at the very least get him onto a new contract sooner rather than later) but i can't help but think that he's going to be a very in demand man in the summer.

I know it's a bit random to ask in this thread, but where do you find solid info on contract lengths of Saints players? I have a general feeling that we have been quite good at extending contracts for key players during the last few transfer windows which may at some point prove to be more important than bringing in new players. Morgan being an example - that is if we actually did make him sign an extension to his contract :p

He has been one of our best players since he joined us

Amazed TBH you've only just realised

Surely Bridge, Walcott, Beattie, Marian, Killer, Bale and Oxo are in with shouts?

But not when they were playing for us - Bale possibly. They are all much better players now (through growth and experience) than they were then but Scheiderlin's performances for us now are better than any that they delivered.

Definitely our best player.

If the lad can add that real 'killer pass' to his game and a shot from distance then he'd be a Champions League player. Certainly needs a call-up for France.

Yep- they're even starting threads on him.

They're educated about our team and that worries me. The way they talk it's almost like they're waiting for an auction to see which lot to buy, like vultures circling their prey. Stay up and we should have no trouble keeping them, but if any club in the country could turn our young players' heads, it's United.

Under Adkins our centre mids were always a bit static, and to be fair it served us well. But it is really great to now see Morgan and Davis breaking into the box at pace and scoring tap ins
