Forren, WTF

Saints boy in Leeds

Surely he's fit now, or maybe new setup think he's not good enough yet ?

Think he still isn't quite where we wants him to be in regards to fitness, but was a bit surprised when he didn't replace fox as he is left footed and can play left back. Also, Jos and Yos was immense today, so could easily se him have to earn his way into the team. But i guess he will play against Newcastle.

I thought the same thing, but to be fair, the Clyne/Richardson switch worked well. I thought Richardson did well when he came on.

Agree with the above comments. No player should be dropped when they have deserved to keep their place, regardless of who they might be keeping on the bench. And given Forren hasn't played in some time, it will take more than training and development games to get to match fitness, given our new high-tempo pressing game.

But when you have your second choice LB leaving the game injured I'd say he should get a chance to show what he can do. Now we had to make two changes (Clyne to LB and Richardson to RB) and for me one change is better because it is less likely to disrupt the team. I also thought getting an extra CB on the pitch to deal with crosses into the box the last few minutes would have been a good idea. Ah well. We won.

But if I have to guess why he hasn't played yet it is because of our playing style. Not exactely the most common in Norway and it might take some time to adjust to the tempo and playing so far up the pitch. Give it time, especially since there isn't really a spot open in the team.

But Clyne can actually play LB and has done many times in his career, very capably too. Forren is a CB and therefore has very different qualities and a very different approach to the game than a fullback. Putting a CB at LB would have been a risk, putting a fullback who can play LB at LB and a RB at RB is less so, even if the RB isn't the quality we'd like (he did OK though to be fair). This decision didn't harm us, if anything I stopped worrying about our LB position!

I'm as keen to see Forren playing as the next Saints fan, but only if it's the right thing to do, rather than doing it for the sake of it or to justify a transfer.

I thought he occasionally had played LB in Norway?

Let's be honest for a backup CB £4m is a bit much. Could of found better in the championship IMO.

Is that tongue in cheek? We normally give players at least 1 or 2 games before writing them off (normally with a large slice of humble pie being eaten 10 games later).

I gasped with Richardson came on but he did ok, regarding Forren, I agree that he should not expect to play but I think we will see him soon !!!

Richardson has never really put a foot wrong in my opinion, a realiable defender to call upon....Butterfield however....

He was also one of our more regular assist providers back in L1. Good crosser when he bombed down the wing, I lost count of the crosses he put in for SRL to nod in.
