monkadill Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 With the new man in charge its all positive attacking football, Lambo n Rog. No Del Prado (i never had a issue with him) and what a result. We are back!

ToreSF Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 To be fair to Guly, he really did the job against Everton. But right now, jay rod looks very good!

monkadill Posted 9 February, 2013 Author Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Not knocking Gully, just a difference, unless he is injured. So chuffed with that result. Watched it on a stream and the difference between the stream and the Saints player version of the game is vast. Against Wigan we battered them but the Saints player commentary was all about the defensive errors. COYS
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Belief and positivity. That's the difference. Adkins not positive then ? Wouldn't say that's the differance IMO
Ohio Saint Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 I have a LOT of theories in my head about "The difference" between NA and MP and how their influences might have different effects on the players. However, those theories are best left in my head, and should never see the light of day because i have no inside info and no clue about any of it. Thedelldays Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 steve davis just been on the radio said that MP has made a huge impact on the players and they are working harder than they have done before. have to keep shape and win ball back higher up the pitch they are getting fitter than ever as well as other things said
ToreSF Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 The difference is that we have more of a tactical plan now than during Adkins. Adkins seemed to be brilliant at man management, but in some matches we just didn't know how to defend, or what to do when we got the ball. The away games against Arsenal and Liverpool especially comes to mind. Now I feel that we are better prepared, and have a fair chance against anyone. But still early days though. View From The Top Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 I can certainly see the difference between NA's set up & style & the new fellas. I like it!
aintforever Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Main difference is when we havn't got the ball, we way we close teams down now is superb. We also break quicker, shoot more and don't ponce about with it as much as under Nige.

Olallana Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 The thing is when you win the ball higher up on the pitch you will be able to create more chances.... We just have to be sharper with that last distribution to our goalscorers and we will be a really threat for anyone....if we not are already..... S-Clarke Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 We press like Spain and Barcelona. It's a quality I always admired, as well as their attacking play. It's as important what you do without the ball, as you do with it. Earlier in the season we would run around all over the place trying to win the ball back, thus leaving gaps everywhere. Now we press with intelligence, which is turning us into a damn fine PL side.
Webby Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 The difference is subtle, the result is not. New level. Onwards and upwards.
Webby Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 I posted in the match thread, forget the table position, we're a top half side now. Belief and confidence.
RobM Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Adkins not positive then ? Wouldn't say that's the differance IMO Adkins was, 100%. But he wasn't on the pitch. There seems to be an enhanced belief about our players that is greater than before and our game play and tactics are more positive than under Adkins. He would have absolute faith and positivity, but would still be defensive and negative at times, especially in his sub's.
Dr Who? Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Press, press, hassle, hurry the oppo. Sounds easier than it looks, but we are a well oiled machine, when we do it.
Doctoroncall Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 MP has provide the icing to the cake baked by Adkins and I like the taste!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Our style is more urgent with the ball and more pressing on the.oppo when off the ball. It's working in spades. Adkins couldn't see the next step which is why he had to be replaced. Pochi knows EXACTLY how to deliver the goods.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Main difference is when we havn't got the ball, we way we close teams down now is superb. Junior Mullet Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 MP is demanding a hell of a lot from the players and they are giving it there all. There will be no room for shirkers in this team. We are very lucky to have this quality football being played at our club. I think we are on the brink of something very exciting indeed. Probably just one or two good signings away from being able to achieve consistently good results.
channonball Posted 9 February, 2013 Share Posted 9 February, 2013 Speaking to a few fellas tonight and we all agreed if nige was still here in the same situation winning with 20 mins to go he'd have taken lambert off and possibly 2 of our other best players and we'd probably have cocked it up.
