What a performance. Simply great, has to be up there with the best since St.Mary's emerged from the ground. Completely dominated, lots of intensity, high-tempo passing, breaking into positions, outrunning them in every position and even those who aren't really up to it showed that a little confidence can take you to do a job (Fox and Hooiveld I mean, but my opinion about them as players won't change, but credit they were ok today). Some beautiful attacking football and a team that slowly is hitting the headlines every now and then.

MOTM for me either Lambert (never seen someone create so much space with a simple touch of the ball) or the Ginga Ninja Steven Davis, electric player who really transmits intensity and tempo to our attack and very composed on the ball.

Schneiderlin and Cork > Barry and Nasri.

Rocking atmosphere. Really happy times at SMS. COYR!!

Hands up who predicted 3-1 to Saints?

P.s. why the **** didn't I put my money where my mouth is???? FFS

A guy sat near us apparently did together with punch to score first. Reckons he won 2 grand. Fair play.

Oh, and what a performance. Lambert, maya, jos, j-rod, Davis all exceptional, and cork and schneiderlin were even better. I genuinely wouldn't swap those two with any other prem midfielders at the moment. Best result in years. Well done and thanks

October 2010 - Jason Puncheon is booed off by (a minority of) his own fans in League 1 and ends up getting loaned to Millwall a week later.

January 2011 - Jason Puncheon slags off Cortese on twitter having been frozen out completely and flopped on loan at QPR.

February 2013 - Jason Puncheon scores the opening goal in a convincing 3-1 win against the English Champions and celebrates by wiping his arse on the corner flag, whilst 5,000 fans in the Northam sing, "Jason Puncheon, he sh*ts when he wants."

Hands up who predicted that a year ago.

Lambert was a class act, He was the key man for us and made the hard work of everybody else Cork especially, into goals and worked the City defence over.
unfortunately for NA he had a blind spot when it came to RL being a top PL striker,in the end decisions/judgement like that cost him his job.

I have to confess that I was disappointed by the manner of Nigel's departure and made a disparaging remark about our esteemed Executive Chairman. After recent events and especially after today's wonderful achievement and the general standard of football since MP's arrival (deserving of more wins) I have to admit that Nicola Cortese was right I was WRONG! :)

Was it a pen just before half time when Toure appeared to upend Rodriguez???

certainly looked like it from where we were sat??

Quality performance all round, so many great performances but Cork in particular stood out. Mate likened it to the 6-3, 4-1s against Man Utd & Liverpool

Every pundit on TV and radio has called it a pen.

My old man did @64/1! Just as he does every week on 3-1! Couple of quid that he put on pays for a years bets !! Happy days

Hooiveld had one of his best games for us. Sensational after I thought he might struggle. My MOM.

Cork and Lambert not far behind. Fox had a decent game, Clyne done ok, Morgan is just so good it's ridiculous, J-Rod run his balls off and caused them lots of problems. Davis also very very good. Struggling to see how Gaston is going to get back into the side at the moment?

Lallana came on and gave us a bit of calmness and had some fantastic little moments where he could have just booted, it but got it down and found a man.

Great performance all round and special mention to MP. It's all coming together ! Dare we dream and start believing the European job ?

Well me and a mate had Steven Davis down as motm! He did everything that the new guy was expecting and more from this high pressing game, deserved several goals and a starting position for a while from that performance!

Cork and morg as well as maya an jos were all excellent but Steven Davis was that player they had no answer for today, too much energy and enthusiasm for city's liking.

So pleased with the result as well, by far the better side over 90 mins, no idea why it was 5 of extra time but we won! :D

BBC 'Manchester City gifted Southampton victory with a series of glaring defensive errors.'

If City are so good, why didn't they score a shedful of goals and win the match?

The truth is we outclassed them today.

They fail to realise that it is the high pressing, high tempo Saints team that forces these errors in the first place. One thing is sure, we will need to cultivate players to this style rather than buy them in, but I'm more than excited by the prospect.

Blew them away! They couldn't handle the pressure and eventually made mistakes. Couldn't fault anybody, Davis worked his socks off, Cork was everywhere as was Spider, Lambert was the perfect target, J-Rod had them worried with his pace, Jos won everything in the air, but most importantly they all worked for each other. Shame about the poncy corner that just invited them to run up and score, I'd have liked a clean sheet. I've treated myself to a pint tonight. I'm looking forward to one after every game from now on. :)

Great, just a great performance.

Special mention to Foxy, thought he did well and his quick free kick pass from left to right to Lambert contributed to second goal.

Joy Rod, Davis, and Cork were all top quality.

But MoTM was Lambert, I thought he was different class today.

To play like that with lallana, Gaston and Shaw not starting bodes well.

Great day, results great. We're staying up.

Red wine is also good for the system, I understand. :-) How's your health, by the way? Isn't the stress of watching Saints bad for your system. Not today, obviously. :-))

Cork and Morgan really are the ones that make us a match for any team on our day. When was the last time we had a midfield pairing that was the equal to any of the big teams? Surely we'd have to go all the way back to Ball and Williams. I think this pairing will be a benchmark for our team for years to come.

I was also wondering when we last had a right side pairing to match Clyne and Puncheon. Can anybody help me out with our last great attacking pair down the right? I'd take them over Telfer/Dodd and Fernandes any day.
