ToreSF Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 It's that time of year. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor/default.stm I had us ending on 45 points.
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 45 points massive LOL i reckon 37 at best
Scummer Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 41 points, and I'd like to think I was being pretty realistic.
pingwing Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 I like my bottom 3, QPR 24 points, Villa 28, Reading on 28 and Wigan staying up on 33...
yorkiesaint Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 It's that time of year. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor/default.stm I had us ending on 45 points. You're an optimist that's for sure. When I did it it came down to a nailbiting last day and we stayed up on 39 points. I hope this is wrong! In this scenario we beat W Ham, QPR, W Brom and Stoke at home, managed a point at Norwich and Sunderland (v optimistic) and at home to Liverpool, lost home games against Man City and Chelsea, and away games at Swansea and Reading, Spurs and newcastle. Newcastle 42 (-13) W. Ham 40 (-16) Norwich 40 (-19) Saints 39 (-13) Wigan 39 (-18) Fulham 38 (-13) Reading 38 (16) Villa 32 (-33) QPR 28 (-24)
Saint Scott Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 (edited) Finished up with Saints in 13th! This was my genuine neutral estimating too, im genuinely quite shocked by the outcome. Edited 6 February, 2013 by Saint Scott
Leicestersaint Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 We will do well to reach 40 points, especially if we keep giving away late goals.
Suhari Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 Wigan and Villa cut adrift come the last day on 26 and 24 pts. Us (35), QPR (33) Reading (32) go into the last match with massively squeaky arses. Our better goal difference might be the thing that keeps us up.
maysie Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 Finished up with Saints in 13th! This was my genuine neutral estimating too, im genuinely quite shocked by the outcome. How do you upload the table matey?
Avenue Saint Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 43 points! Where does that normally get you?
Saint Scott Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 How do you upload the table matey? http://www.tinypic.com and copy in the link you get with the tags around it into your post. Obviously making sure you've cropped the image to just the table.
SNSUN Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 I did it the other day, it's all nonsense as otherwise we'd all win the pools every week, but the experiment was to see how Saints could do if we win our winable games, control the controllables as it were. We finished on 41 points iirc. I do think we'll be in the relegation battle though, we've dropped too many points over the course of the season and may regret not strengthening more in January. I'll take going into the last game with our fate in our own hands. I notice people have started tipping Reading to survive. I still don't see it. McDermott said "we've got lots of quality in this team". I don't see that either. Reading will still go down IMO, but at least for the time being they're showing balls. QPR are, I finally admit, going down too. They're just too far adrift, they need near title winning form for the rest of the season to escape now IMO. Then it's a 3 ways tie between us, Wigan and Villa. Villa have looked shocking this season - it could well be them, prompting our survival and Wigan's great escape.
Dr Who? Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 Finished up with Saints in 13th! This was my genuine neutral estimating too, im genuinely quite shocked by the outcome. Reading or anyone staying up on 30 points, is never going to happen! Lol
aintforever Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 I had us staying up easy on 43 points but these predictor things are completely pointless at this stage.
saints_is_the_south Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 41 points and 13th place finish. 9th downwards to be very close together IMO. West Brom and Stoke in poor form, the latter always seems to tail off towards the end. Think Newcastle will climb the table into the top half. Sooner or later I think we are going to become level with Norwich/Fulham/West Ham and then the bottom half will be a bit of a yo yo until the end of the season. Bottom 3 as it currently stands.

Literally the only difference I had was Fulham slipped into the bottom three and Reading clawed out of it.
Crazy Diamond Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 40 and I was a bit generous with one or two games.
Winnersaint Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 39 points 13th place. been objective and got; 14th West Ham36 15th Norwich 35 16th Reading 34 17th Villa 34 18th Fulham 33 19th QPR 32 20th Wigan 31
Charlie Wayman Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 Finished up with Saints in 13th! This was my genuine neutral estimating too, im genuinely quite shocked by the outcome. Neutral with a moniker like Saint Scott? Do us a favour!
Wade Garrett Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 41points, and thought I was quite pessimistic with the scores. Had Reading, QPR and Villa going down. 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
Restark19 Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Had us staying up in 16 with 35 then Reading QPR and Villa all on 31 (latter 2 going down on GD) Wigan dead last with 29. West Ham only 2 points clear of us. Although Newcastle ended up 8th and United won the league with 99 points to City's 87
ToreSF Posted 7 February, 2013 Author Posted 7 February, 2013 Finished up with Saints in 13th! This was my genuine neutral estimating too, im genuinely quite shocked by the outcome. 28 points to stay up will never be enough. More likely that we'll manage 45 point imo ;-)
Saint Charlie Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 [/img] Have us to stay up despite being pessimistic and only getting two more wins (WH home and Norwich away)
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Are we yet at the stage where someone calculates how many points should be good enough based points totals achieved by teams in the last ten years, and then people argue about interpreting it properly?
ToreSF Posted 7 February, 2013 Author Posted 7 February, 2013 [/img] Have us to stay up despite being pessimistic and only getting two more wins (WH home and Norwich away) Why do you think QPR will be so much better than us?
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Why do you think QPR will be so much better than us? Can't see that personally. Isn't Remy out for like 2 months?
tajjuk Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Have us 13th with 40 points. Draws at Newcastle, Norwich, Reading, and at home Liverpool. Wins at home to Stoke, West Ham, West Brom and QPR.
St Lej Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Finished up with Saints in 13th! This was my genuine neutral estimating too, im genuinely quite shocked by the outcome. Lol worst table ever! Pure comedy. As if anyone on 30 points will stay up! You must have based pretty much all your predictions on a "top half beats bottom half" basis, then gave saints a few bonus points to ensure we stayed up. Great work
CWD Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Wow mine ended up close at the bottom! 13th Norwich p38 -22 39 14th Fulham p38 -16 38 15th Saints p38 -16 38 16th WHam p38 -23 38 17th Reading p38 -24 33 18th Wigan p38 -26 33 19th Aston Villa p38 -41 33 20th QPR p38 -22 30 Reading to stay up on GD it is then!
SaintSteve Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Finished up with Saints in 13th! This was my genuine neutral estimating too, im genuinely quite shocked by the outcome. this is hilarious... a Redknapp hater in numbers.. I think you need to re-visit the 22/25/27 estimates
Bearsy Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 (edited) I got the predictions from other club's forum... can you guess which clubs? Predictions 1 Predictions 2 Edited 7 February, 2013 by Bearsy
Thedelldays Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 although I think we are going down... here is how my predictor turned out.... 14th - Norwich - 39 15th - Saints - 38 16th - Fulham - 38 17th - Reading - 36 18th - Villa - 35 19th - QPR - 33 20th - Wigan - 33 ffs that also had us back in the bottom 3 after getting well beat at home to chelsea....then coming good
Saint Charlie Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 I got the predictions from other club's forum... can you guess which clubs? Predictions 1 Predictions 2 First QPR, second Wigan?
Saint Garrett Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Whats the chances eh ?! haha Maybe a tad too bias!
Thedelldays Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 (edited) Whats the chances eh ?! haha Maybe a tad too bias! 11th sorry, but yeah, WAY too biased lol we have won 1 in 9..cant see us all of a sudden turning teams over on a more regular basis also, you honestly think man united, with van persie etc will let a 9 point lead slip this season...? Edited 7 February, 2013 by Thedelldays
Saint Garrett Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Only had us beating QPR, West Ham, Swansea, WBA, Stoke, and drawing against Norwich, Liverpool, Chelsea, Sunderland. Losses against Spurs, Reading, City, Newcastle and
Charlie Wayman Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 So not one person has scored it with us going down. This alone makes the whole thing a mockery. Impartial scoring by 30 people or more would statistically result in us going down in at least one table yet not a sign of it here. I'm afraid the old adage still applies - rubbish in / garbage out

You have confidence that you're team is going to do well. My predictions don't take into account w4nky individual errors which no doubt we'll still have a couple but we're capable of getting a result against anyone in the league IMO.

Maybe we're quite good football team?

KelvinsRightGlove Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 you are right..but when I do these predictor thingies...I try to be realistic and not big up one team because I support them..or dumb down another because I dont like them.. try to do it on form and the odd shock result (which will always happen) Not a dig at you mate, but I did this and had us lower (16th) with less points than you had us on 37 points. Considering our two usual stances, this did make me chuckle.
Wade Garrett Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 I'm going to give it another go. I'll let you all know if it pans out.
70's Mike Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 Had us staying up by a point, but did not really need the predictor to know it would go to last Sunday of season
Black Sea Saint Posted 7 February, 2013 Posted 7 February, 2013 too many away games. I'm predicting we finish on 34 points. Can't be bothered to predict the other teams's scores. I hadn't really paid enough attention to the number of away fixtures before doing this. I've from being very optimistic to very pessimistic.
Wade Garrett Posted 8 February, 2013 Posted 8 February, 2013 I'm going to give it another go. I'll let you all know if it pans out.12th on 44 points, thought I was being realistic with the scores as well.Probably why I don't gamble much. I'm a bookies dream.
