St marys expansion

Bald men arguing over hair straighteners.

Or perhaps more accurately, a load of people arguing interminably about something that probably won't be proved for another x years.

Put your money where your mouth is. 2018. Five years from now.

Two questions.

The maximum capacity of the stadium.

The average home attendance.

I know it's a bit of a wait, and I'll admit, I'm kicking the issue into the long grass AND putting people on the spot simultaneously.

"Price Is Right" rules. Closest person to either figure wins, but if you go over, you've lost.

40K capacity, average of 35K.

40K capacity, average of 35K.

8K rise in capacity is psychologically pleasing. 25% of what we have now, again.

I think I'd go higher on the capacity though. 5K empty seats looks crap unless you disguise it somehow.

Would you entertain some kind of "skate pit", Kraks? A little pen containing fans of the historical entity known as Portsmouth Football Club. The kids could feed them bread.

ALthough Readings capacity is 24,000 and their average crowd is slightly below this they are held back by their capacity. Their average would have been higher had they had a bigger staidum as they would definitely have sold tickets for the big games and also have a huge catchment area which takes in most of the midlands, thames valley and large parts of London. Theirr stadium is often 95% full so they need to expand. If they had had the same success as Man United and investment as Man City they would have got crowds of around 50000. Everton only get 36000 on average in a 40000 stadium so Reading would undoubtedly get close to that if they had a bigger stadiumd. In fact it's arguable that they have more match going fans than them.

why doesn't this logic apply to us then? reading can get fans from the midlands but everton can't even get 10% of liverpool to come?

amazes me where all these reading fans would come from in reality, we took 55'000 to Wembley :) the real truth about attendance is success, and prolonged success, not catchment area. two of the biggest selling clubs every fort night compete for the same fans, in the same catchment area...

and the percentage figure is inaccurate, we have never, ever sold out, we all see the massive block of seats in northam empty every single game. if we take our attendance as our highest ever attendance in EPL its 32,151, and our number moves up to 94.6% and into joint 13th :)

i also remember a game against bayern munich, the club ****ed up on demand and there weren't enough seats to go round, we were escorted round the pitch to go and sit behind Herr Khan. if the opposition are there we will fill the stadium, i've been to so many chelsea games where that top tier is empty, but they will be packed for the big games.

if you build it, they will come :)
