Remaining Fixtures for bottom teams...

Bottom of the league teams? Not so sure about this. I am expecting us to kick on to mid table at least at the moment! This thread is going to be so irrelevant in 2-3 weeks :)

Also - Stoke, WBA and West Ham have all been in terrible form over the past 6 games. We'll overtake the mid-table teams at this rate!

But for the record, this is what I think we can achieve if we continue in the form we are in.

SOUTHAMPTON Fixtures - 27 points

February 23 Newcastle (A) Saints WIN 2-1

March 2: QPR (H) Saints WIN 4-0

March 9: Norwich (A) Saints WIN 2-1

March 16: Liverpool (H) DRAW - 2-2

March 30 Chelsea (H) LOSS (I sense Chelsea revenge may be on the cards!) 1-2

April 6: Reading (A) Saints WIN - 2-1.All you have to do with Reading is not switch of in the last 10 minutes.

April 13: West Ham (H) Saints WIN - 3-1.

April 20: Swansea (A) LOSS - Swans are motoring this season

April 27: West Brom (H) Saints WIN 3-1. WBA form is awful.

May 4: Tottenham (A) Saints LOSS 2-1. Spuds are firing on all cylinders.

May 12: Sunderland (A) Saints LOSS 2-1. Sunderland will be struggling and its a long trip.

May 19: Stoke (H) Saints WIN 3-1. Stoke are in poor form.

22 extra points putting us on 59, and a top half finish.

Its possible, its really possible.

I'll have a pint of what you've just had :)

Don't blame him, they were atrocious yesterday!

[h=1]West Ham: Sam Allardyce told to seal survival before new deal talks.[/h]In other related news, Fergie has also also been told to seal Man Utd survival before new deal talks. When questioning this, he was told that his team has the same chance of relegation as West Ham.

Good display by Reading against Manure yesterday. Think they have a good chance of staying up. QPR, Wigan and Villa down, if it was up to me. Btw, if you thought saintsweb was a mongboard, check out this place: http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/forum.php

Reports of the Dubai trip are pretty m***y, though am sure the likes of tokyo and bearsy would do a good job of fantasising what chris samba looks like in a pair of speedos.

why do you post to yourself..?

Only way to gaurentee to get a good reply (add a random s where you see fit depending in the account).

Also helps to keep the post count down. Nobody wants to have 34k posts do they? You'll look like serial killer.

Readings run in starting to look very unpleasant now. They've bottled their first 6 pointer which puts massive pressure on their other 3. I really can't see any wins in their other games either, maybe Liverpool at home but the rest are all horrible. Relegation 6 pointers mixed in with trips to Goodison, OT and Emirates before we go up there at the start of April.

Their comeback kings tag has been pretty much wiped out the last 2 games aswell.

Next round for the bottom teams:

Everton v. Reading

Southampton v. QPR

Wigan v. Liverpool

Aston Villa v. Man. City.

Very good chance for us to get a six point clearance to the drop. Can't see Reading getting more than a point, and either Villa or Wigan or both will loose. That leaves us to beat QPR.....

Reading are the dangerous team IMO. Wigan are very capable of a good run and dragging themselves out of it. Our only hope is for QPR,Villa (both doomed for me) and Reading to go down. If Reading miraculously stay up, then, well, let's just say I can't see Wigan taking their place...

After a bottle of wine and a few beers I can safely say that it could go any way. But we are definitely staying up. But I would like it to be QPR - WHAM - Newcastle.

My view is that it's easier for us to play the top teams than take on a side like QPR who put men behind the ball and look for quick breaks. Looked at the first half highlights on SKY and the commentator was commenting on our tendency to leave gaps at the back as the full backs push forward. They sucked us in and got us on the break.. I don't think QPR dominated any part of the game even after they scored.

QPR are in a totally false position due to Hughes' ineptitude. It's still probably too late for them though but they have good players and a manager who knows what he's doing. There are plenty of players at QPR that I'd swap for ours. Traore for instance, far better than either Fox or Shaw in his present state, key player for them, shut Punch and Clyne right down..

Yesterday was an easy win chance gone by as a loss, but I still think, in spite of yesterday, we need 4 more wins to survive, possibly even only 3. It sounds easy but then we should have won yesterday tbf. QPR have some false hope now, at least I hope it's false hope - I'd hate to have given QPR the start of a winning run of fixtures that would get them out of it and make Redknapp a hero to everyone around the globe.

We're now going to have to beat at least one of Liverpool/Chelsea at home. Probably the first time we've had a lot of pressure on us going into a game against one of the 'big teams'. So unnecessary but after yesterday's sh!te, that's how it is. Suarez will probably tear us a new one with the form that he's in.

Seriously believe that we have thrn aay some vital points recently... but then who sawMan game coming. Sadly don't see us getting the breaks to sneak the wins we need. Luckyto get past 35points so am hoping there are 3 teams likely to finish with pooer orm than us. Norwich & Reading games crucial and both have that annoying habit of buggering up my match day!!!

That reading game is a must win now

It's a must win game for Reading as they are fast running out of winnable fixtures.

For us it's a 'must not lose' game more than anything. A draw there would maintain the gap. 3 more wins in some very winnable home fixtures against Wham, WBA and Stoke will keep us up. I don't see the quality in Reading, QPR and Villa to get to 36 points I really don't.

Agree.

1 point against Reading still keeps them 3 points behind us. The pressure on them to win will be massive.

Is Delph good now? Always thought he was very average?

Barry Bannan will come in to replace him, so this makes the ban quite a blow for them! No disrespect to Bannan personally, but he's one of the reasons they're down there. Young players who are championship level at best, trying to make a grade for themselves in a league where they're out of their depth.

3 wins 3 draw will see us safe before the final day.....IF......one of those wins is away to Reading. If we don't win that one then it will be down to the final game of the season. I still think Reading,QPR & the winner of the final game of the season between Wigan & Villa will decide the 3rd spot. QPR still have an outside chance of escaping though, as they still have to play Reading, Villa & Wigan but I can't see them winning all 3 of those.

Our style might be more suited to playing Liverpool, they will attack us and they will play out from the back against us. We might be able to press them in and get at their defence which is far from sturdy. Despite beating Wigan 4-0, Reina made quite a few decent saves.

West Ham, West Brom and Stoke will all come to St Marys, sit back and defend deep.

We have missed an opportunity but at least we haven't lost gorund, veryone is where they were on Friday. We still have the 3 point gap and the superior goal difference.

Things are looking dire right now. Teams around us hitting form at just the right time when we seem to be losing it. Even Wigan won 3-0 at Everton today ffs.

Sunderland dropping like a stone. Reading playing as bad as they have all year. Villa won their first game in god knows how long.

Wigan won 3-0 in a cup game, which only adds to their schedule. Their game in hand is Man City away.

A way to look at ti is that we've extended the gap today, but probably should have been a bit more. But it's a bit silly to say that teams around us are hitting form.
