Just hope that when we play a few of those teams at the end of the season, they've got nothing to play for. WHU, Swansea, WBA, Sunderland and Stoke are all pretty likely to be safe and not going for Europe.

trouble is...it is rarely like that in the prem....with so much money going for each league placing....

If we keep picking up a few points, the last 6 games, perhaps with the exception of Tottenham, look very winnable. We should be looking to pick up at least 10 points from those, just means we could be waiting till the last day of the season to confirm safety.

Reading worry me....just look at their home games...

looking at that, it is hard to see QPR getting enough points...

every time we fuk up a win, it puts added pressure on games like the man city game......

Yeh, but look at the games around those home games.

Stoke, Everton, Man Utd, Man Utd, Arsenal all away. (all games we have done)

Man City and Liverpool to play at home.

They realistically have 6 games to pick up their points from. If they don't get the results they need in those home games they are going to have some trouble getting them elsewhere. Massive pressure to win those 6 pointers.

Wigan and QPR have the toughest fixtures run in for me. Wigan have away trips to Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, West Brom, West Ham, plus QPR and Reading.

Ours is about the same as Villas.

March/April will decide our season. 5 home games, and winnable away games at Norwich, Reading and Swansea.

I think 34 points may be enough to stay up.

Although Reading have four big homes they also have four very tough away fixtures coming up as well as Man City at home and Liverpool at home.

Wigan's next four are pretty nasty. They may have a play-off with Villa on the final day but I reckon they might both be down by then.

Villa have Arsenal, Stoke and Man U away as well as City, Chelsea and Liverpool at home. I'd be surprised if they finish with more than 33 points.

QPR... well, to get to 35 they need to average about 1.5 points per game. If they had done that so far they would be where Liverpool and Arsenal are now. Can't see it.

Three or four wins and a couple of draws will see us fine, I reckon. I would hope we can do a bit better than that, in any case.

As I have too much time on my hands - a breakdown of the games we all have left. Overall we and Villa have the edge on these statistics

Games against Games at

Top 7/ Mid 6/ Bottom 7/ Home/ Away

QPR 4/ 4/ 5/ 6/ 7

Reading 5/ 3/ 5/ 6/ 7

Wigan 5/ 3/ 5/ 6/ 7

Aston Villa 5/ 6/ 2/ 7/ 6

Saints 4/ 5/ 4/ 7/ 6

I still think that some of the teams (Fulham & Norwich) above could get dragged into it, although they will ultimately end up being OK. It's not beyond impossible that we could finish higher than 16th.

As long as we can maintain our current form (7 points from last 6 games) over our last 13 games then we are going to be fine. That form would essentially give us 38 points with the Stoke game spare on the final day. Any dip in that form and we are going to be in trouble, any better then we can look forward to mid table security.

Reading seem to have found some form, and I think they will stay up. Can see QPR, Villa and Wigan going down. Wigan have been hanging on and narrowly surviving the drop for years, just like us in 2005, their luck will run out eventually. Wouldn't be surprised to see West Ham and Norwich getting dragged in.

Tried to be as fair as possible. I do fancy QPR to go on a bit of a roll, but even 4 wins and 6 draws isn't enough by my reckoning. It's going to be seriously close. Think it will all come down to the six pointers...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2273281/Loic-Remy-injured-months.html

QPR fear that £8million striker Loic Remy could be out for two months with the injury he suffered in training last week which forced him to miss Saturday's 0-0 draw with Norwich.

The France forward scored on his QPR debut in the 1-1 draw at West Ham after signing from Marseille during the transfer window.

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp was hoping that Remy could spearhead the club's survival bid as they look to bridge the six-point gap to safety in their remaining 13 games.

But now he faces the prospect of being without his striker for the next six games - including relegation clashes at Aston Villa and Southampton in March and possibly the visit of Wigan in April.

Redknapp initially said the injury was a tear after the Norwich game, but assistant manager Joe Jordan told the BBC it was a 'slight strain'.

'I have no idea how long he will be out. We will have to see how he is on Sunday and Monday,' Redknapp said.

'It was in the last minute of training, and he just struck a ball and felt it go.'

After failing to land Peter Crouch and Peter Odemwingie on deadline day Remy's injury leaves Bobby Zamora and Jamie Mackie as Redknapp's only fit first-team strikers.

Will take the new manager 11 games to get a win according to you. There will be people on here literally salivating if that's the case :)

at this rate...injuries are going to send us down (bit like 2005)

Clyne

Shaw

Fonte

Forren

Lallana (been out for ages)

Ramirez (always seems to not be fit enough)

Guly

all we need now is Lambert to pull a hammy and we have the set

but we have just the match on Saturday and then another 2 week break. City haven't looked great of late and if we can get something out of that match we can recover and regroup for the Reading game on the 23 rd.

We have a very good run in, West Ham, Swansea, West Brom, Sunderland and Stoke (5 of the last 6) should all be in the mid table comfort zone. They are the teams you want to be playing at the business end.

If we are above the bottom 3 after the Reading game we will stay up comfortably IMO.

Looking at it from your predictions (many of which look plausible) I feel pretty confident. Whichever matches they come in, 3 wins and 5 draws from the remaining 13 games has got to be the bare minimum we aim for. Obviously if those points come from games against relegation rivals then so much the better.

Maybe we should wait until we know the extent of the injuries before the doom and gloom?

I think Clyne and Ramirez have 'knocks', they might miss the game against City. which we aren't likely to win anyway but they aren't out for ages, Lallana is almost back to full fitness, Forren isn't even injured just getting back to match fitness and Guly and Fonte should be on the mend.

Only really Shaw and no one knows how bad it is.

I doubt that Shaw, Clyne, Gaston, Forren will be out for long. Lallana looked sharp on Saturday and looked good at OT as well. Fonte's looked pretty bad but he's been out a month already so must be on his way back, and Guly has been out a few weeks but probably wouldn't get in the side now anyway.

Looks like Remy isn't injured for very long after all, he's in the squad for tomorrow. And seeing as though they've just let DJ Campbell out on loan for 3 months, I'm guessing he must be there or there abouts.

Need to add Newcastle into the mix if we win or draw up there in 2 weeks' time......

Draw would be a good result really up there but it's going to depend on their Europa Cup game the week before. No idea who they're playing but if they get a mauling we might be able to capitalise on it. Watched them against Spurs yesterday and they weren't great.

Norwich fans are starting to get worried. They could drop into the mire IMO

Depends, if Villa lose today I'd think that the current bottom 3 have it all to do and that the others would only have themselves to blame if they ended up in the relegation places. From Newcastle up survival is there to be lost now.The bottom 3 have bad GDs and

thus need 7 points to get to the safe zone. Reading is another matter but they have virtually +4 points if Villa lose today.

Sorry, but you've given them all far too many points. Qpr will do well to get 10, 18 is laughable. We will be fine, and the required points total for survival will be very low this season. 35 will easily be enough, but I'm confident of getting at least 40.

I'm starting to feel confident enough to look at catching the teams above us rather than keep clear of those below us.

Would like to see us overtake the hammers. Specially after the way the media drooled over the way they were certainly staying up and had 'done it' a lot better than us and reading. Think Villa will beat them today and reckon we will beat them at SMS. They've only scored 7 away goals worst in all the leagues I think.
