Seldom used by Adkins, his signing appeared to me as a backup option as our efforts for a fast winger came to nothing in the summer. Didn't really seem to 'fit in' under Adkins and the slow build up play we favoured no matter what our formation or shape.

It's a different world now under Pochettino, we're pressing high up the pitch and breaking very quickly when we have the ball. On the face of it we may well get more out of Mayuka and his pace / movement. Even if he has a long way to go with his all round game, can he make a contribution in the new system or do we think he will still be one for the future?

I believe we now have a manager that knows how you use a player with his attributes and he will help us on the run in. Probably though mostly coming off the bench with an impact.

The problem we have with Mayuka is that his confidence is on the floor. An awful AFCON as well as a non-eventful season for us, where he's played more for the reserves than the first team.

It'll be hard for him to get into a head of steam this year, but his pace off the bench will still be helpful, although don't expect him to tear up any tree's just yet.

Should have bought a bag of do nuts, would have got more from them.
