Thedelldays Posted 2 February, 2013 Posted 2 February, 2013 (edited) Big game...they are no way as god as they were last season (even though they are 2nd) obviously have some immense players but not winning much means the pressure is on to get points from games like this.. will we win?...tables says probably not...we are capable though... one thing, we are going to have to break a habit and actually beat a team above 15th place....why not this one..? Toure and Kompany out...? for us...will Ramirez start...? if so, will he turn up..? usually does at home (just awful away) lallana will start no doubt as will Rodriguez as you would expect....probably Lallana in for punch... Forren...? edit, the other games involving us down there next weekend.... Spurs v Newcastle Chelsea v Wigan Stoke v Reading Swansea v QPR Villa v West Ham Edited 2 February, 2013 by Thedelldays
S-Clarke Posted 2 February, 2013 Posted 2 February, 2013 Wouldn't expect too much different from today, maybe just Lallana in for Puncheon. Forren has an injury.
Jack Posted 2 February, 2013 Posted 2 February, 2013 After our performances against Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and United, no reason we can't make a really good game of it. They won't be looking forward to a trip to SMS.
ottery st mary Posted 2 February, 2013 Posted 2 February, 2013 Ramirez thigh strain and I am sure will be 50/50...although week to recover.. Lallana back in to start with Rikeee and Jay Rod.. I would still start with Punch to give us the width and continue with Davis as super sub.. Morgan and Cork in the middle. Same back four with Forren on bench......Depends how he goes during week re fitness....Getting there? The superb Artur Boruc in goal.........Another great save today...Top GK
S-Clarke Posted 2 February, 2013 Posted 2 February, 2013 To be fair, we are due a big result against one of the big boys. We haven't had one yet, bar a draw against Arsenal. See no reason why we can't cause them all sorts of problems, especially with Kompany and Toure missing. Slightly nervous of Tevez/Auguro up against Jos though!

Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 February, 2013 Posted 2 February, 2013 We are due a few things....... Penalty for/against A red card A win A heavy defeat
Saint Charlie Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Forren doesnt have an injury. MP said after the game today he is just having a period of acclimatisation/fitness building as he hasnt played since November. Norway game midweek will help him.

Contrast with Redknapp who plays a "40% fit" Samba...
Saintjersey Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Would take a draw, but we have a massive opportunity to win this with Kompany out.
Kingsland Codger Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 To be fair, we are due a big result against one of the big boys. We haven't had one yet, bar a draw against Arsenal. I would add the draw away at Stamford Bridge to that.
InvictaSaint Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Contrast with Redknapp who plays a "40% fit" Samba... And boy did it show! He was breathing out of his backside after 60 minutes!
Window Cleaner Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Would take a draw, but we have a massive opportunity to win this with Kompany out. depends what happens in the week's international games, I presume nearly all of Citeh's players are involved somewhere or other and we have a fair number ourselves. Would hope to see Forren re-established by next Saturday especially with Maya off to Japan (totally unnecessarily) this week.

Andre Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 I can not find any tickets. Lame. We can get a point here, and that will go some way to making up for the two we lost yesterday. On the other hand, we could get demolished.

saints_is_the_south Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Think we can and will get a draw. Will need to play at the top of our game to get anything of course, but with no Toure or Kompany our chances certainly increase. Ramirez was poor yesterday, but his best performances in a Saints shirt have all come at St Mary's. If he is fit then he should start. I'd bring Lallana in for Punch. Otherwise same starting line up. Keep Davis as a super sub, his best performances have came when coming off the bench. Prediction: Saints 1-1 Man City
SaintBobby Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 I'd be delighted with a point. Could be a goalfest though, if they are down to the bones at the back and have Tevez/Aguero/Dzeko against our current centre backs.

Lambert must bully their cbs absent kompany and peel onto clichy at every opportunity. Press hard and play to win!

Appy Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 cant see rodriguez being dropped..been excellent lately. Agree with this, especially yesterday, he was superb.
Saint_clark Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Yeah, Puncheon I can see being dropped though.
Sour Mash Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 If he's not fit enough for our bench he should not be in the Norway squad. Think their game is a friendly, so a good chance for him to get some match fitness.
Dr Who? Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 I think we will win, they do not like it up um
SuperSAINT Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 I'd happily take the draw. (Unless it's a last minute one for them)
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Yaya Toure could be back as Ivory Coast have just been knocked out of the ACON.
Dalek2003 Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Not expecting much from this game. If we can keep our losing margin down to 4 goals, we will have done well.
Dalek2003 Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Forren doesnt have an injury. MP said after the game today he is just having a period of acclimatisation/fitness building as he hasnt played since November. Norway game midweek will help him. FFS, are you saying he is OK for an international but not for us !!!!!
Thedelldays Posted 3 February, 2013 Author Posted 3 February, 2013 (edited) Man City are well 2nd best against a very very good liverpool side....... as I type...gerrard just scored a worldy...2-1 to the reds... edit...2-2, aguero scores an incredible goal Edited 3 February, 2013 by Thedelldays
RedAndWhite91 Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Can't see us getting anything from Man City. Which makes Newcastle away important and then QPR at home massive.
VectisSaint Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Think their game is a friendly, so a good chance for him to get some match fitness. and if he gets an injury? SAF would not let one of his players join up if they even sneezed. Not fit for Saints, not fit for Norway.
Sour Mash Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 and if he gets an injury? SAF would not let one of his players join up if they even sneezed. Not fit for Saints, not fit for Norway. But it helps us as gets match fitness, so will very ready to play for us sooner.
hasper57saint Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 We are due a few things....... Penalty for/against A red card A win A heavy defeat Exclude the 'heavy defeat' as City aren't that good recently Plus..... A Ref who dosen't play as No.12 for City!!!

student Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 City really are fading away. Don't look half the team of last year. Definately a chance of getting a point off them.
110_Persaint Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Based on their performance against Liverpool? Easiest three points we'll get all season. I'm going for a Rickie double and a Gaston freekick in a comfortable 3-0 win.
S-Clarke Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Their result today makes me more nervous. Teams as good as city don't often go more than 2 games without a win. They aren't a bad side, they're still packed full of quality and will likely have the toure brothers back next week. I'd bite your hand off for a draw.
max_saints Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 unfortunately, after the positive news of kompany being ruled out it seems yaya toure will be back next week.. I'll go for city leading 1-0 after a lackluster first half before we play a superb second half where we 'batter' them but create only 2 chances and score none for the game to end 1-0 to city. Mancini to say we're the best team they've played away from etihad.
Graffito Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Liverpool pressed and harried Man City, just as Saints will, and had the best of it. That's the way to play them. I hope Toure isn't back as he would have made a difference today and will against us. Liverpool look a good side btw.

Kolo won't play anyway I don't think, but I agree about YaYa, possibly the one player I would choose over any other in the PL.

They haven't so far this season. its a hard game to judge, one which they need to win and be nervous and open to attacks or be relaxed about it and play their natural game. Aguero is a great player, hopefully the Toure brothers will be knackered!
ollysaints1 Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Lallana in for Ramirez would be my only change.
SB Posted 3 February, 2013 Posted 3 February, 2013 Any news on Ramirez for the citeh game? This type of game he'd show his class
