Point of order regarding the opposition not scoring when we have the ball - are we still leading the division in own goals?

With the way we dominate games and pin back our opponents we should be comfortably winning and yet our goal scoring record as of late (ever since we shored up defensively) has been really, really poor. IMO it is time to let go of the "Southampton Way" and do a West Ham - all hoofball, all direct, all ugly but with one golden little thing called END PRODUCT.

 

So frustrated after today FFS.

Stoke have scored just 24. They are lucky they have a very good defence.

 

We need to take our chances better that is all.

 

Our style of play is fine and good to watch, it's the reason we managed to score two yesterday and create several other clear cut chances. Poor set piece defending cost us the game.

We carried Ramirez on Saturday and Punch was woeful and may not suit our new manager's system. The style of football we played in possession v Man U and Wigan was great to watch....as for when we didn't have the ball we are like a pack of hyenas on speed hunting down the opposition. Ramirez and Punch to drop to the bench for Adam and Davis v Citeh.

People who bump their own threads to prove a point clearly have some self-esteem issues. It goes on quite a bit on here.

 

Of course the best of both world's would be nice, attractive football and the right results. I have a colleague who's a Stoke season ticket holder and they absolutely despise the way they play but just about accept it whilst grinding out results but they've be all over Pulis in recent weeks with their current run of results.

That is exactly my point. Pretty football will undoubtedly create a few chances, but they're either few and far between or not clear-cut. Under MP we no longer create the gilt-edged opportunities we had under Nigel, and opposition goalkeepers are feeling it. We're not making them do any work or forcing any saves.

yeah Lallanas open goal, GR chipped effort through on goal. RL blasting a JR effort over the bar from 10 yards after JR should of done better...again JR hitting it at the keeper from the edge of the box where anywhere else it would of gone in.

 

Theres 5 off the top of my head...not bad for an away game in **** conditions.
