The9 Posted 3 February, 2013 Share Posted 3 February, 2013 Point of order regarding the opposition not scoring when we have the ball - are we still leading the division in own goals?
moonraker Posted 3 February, 2013 Share Posted 3 February, 2013 I do not think a mis clearance or deflection can truly count as possession, but you may have me on a technicality.
Wilko Posted 3 February, 2013 Share Posted 3 February, 2013 Anybody else feel this way? With the way we dominate games and pin back our opponents we should be comfortably winning and yet our goal scoring record as of late (ever since we shored up defensively) has been really, really poor. IMO it is time to let go of the "Southampton Way" and do a West Ham - all hoofball, all direct, all ugly but with one golden little thing called END PRODUCT. So frustrated after today FFS. You could not be more wrong.

I hope the hoof ball for saints never rears it's ugly head as long as I'm alive.
lloydie Posted 4 February, 2013 Share Posted 4 February, 2013 West Ham have scored 28 and we've scored 33. This. End of topic to be honest, OP thought that West Hams version of football would be more effective and get us more end product. This proves it doesn't and he is a moron. tajjuk Posted 4 February, 2013 Share Posted 4 February, 2013 This. End of topic to be honest, OP thought that West Hams version of football would be more effective and get us more end product. This proves it doesn't and he is a moron. Ta Stoke have scored just 24. They are lucky they have a very good defence. We need to take our chances better that is all. Our style of play is fine and good to watch, it's the reason we managed to score two yesterday and create several other clear cut chances. Poor set piece defending cost us the game. saintbob40 Posted 4 February, 2013 Share Posted 4 February, 2013 We carried Ramirez on Saturday and Punch was woeful and may not suit our new manager's system. The style of football we played in possession v Man U and Wigan was great to watch....as for when we didn't have the ball we are like a pack of hyenas on speed hunting down the opposition. Ramirez and Punch to drop to the bench for Adam and Davis v Citeh.

110_Persaint Posted 9 March, 2013 Author Share Posted 9 March, 2013 Bit of deja vu today. Against a p*ss poor Norwich side.
Barry Sanchez Posted 9 March, 2013 Share Posted 9 March, 2013 I fully agree, some of the other fans actually think you can win a game by 4 passes sideways from left to right.
Greenridge Posted 9 March, 2013 Share Posted 9 March, 2013 People who bump their own threads to prove a point clearly have some self-esteem issues. It goes on quite a bit on here. Of course the best of both world's would be nice, attractive football and the right results. I have a colleague who's a Stoke season ticket holder and they absolutely despise the way they play but just about accept it whilst grinding out results but they've be all over Pulis in recent weeks with their current run of results. skintsaint Posted 9 March, 2013 Share Posted 9 March, 2013 if we didnt create chances I would agree...but we do and we can't finish them, thats more the issue here.
Olallana Posted 9 March, 2013 Share Posted 9 March, 2013 For the fun of it. Go and ask some Norwich fans if they prefer playing like they did, get a draw at home. Or if they rather play like us, get a dray away. Frustrating at times, yes without a doubt,

Pretty football will undoubtedly create a few chances, but they're either few and far between or not clear-cut. Under MP we no longer create the gilt-edged opportunities we had under Nigel, and opposition goalkeepers are feeling it. We're not making them do any work or forcing any saves. skintsaint Posted 9 March, 2013 Share Posted 9 March, 2013 yeah Lallanas open goal, GR chipped effort through on goal. RL blasting a JR effort over the bar from 10 yards after JR should of done better...again JR hitting it at the keeper from the edge of the box where anywhere else it would of gone in. Theres 5 off the top of my head...not bad for an away game in **** conditions.
