Cortese and Le Tissier arrange meeting

Think that is the reason why some criticised Matt of late - if his critique of Cortese was down to the way the club was not progressing, or hideous results, i would say fair enough, like any fan he should voice his concern - and opinion on the Adkins decision from a footballing perspective would also be welcomed, BUT his criticism is about personal issues he has and the petty spat which is of no relevence to anyone else - all it does is paint a one sided s h itty picture which the media love... Matty having a problem with Cortese is his business and no one can tell him to sort it (we should welcome the fact they will sit down together whether in 1 day or 4 weeks), so why the need for the constant ****ing about in the media?

This is it though, Le Tiss doesn't like Cortese and no doubt Cortese doesn't like Le Tiss. But one is continualy displaying his personal dislike in the public domain and then asks for a meeting to discuss their differences. Personally I wouldn't give him the time of day and I'm pretty sure that was what Matt was banking on, just so that he could criticise him again.

I think the important thing is that there will be a face to face meeting. I'm hoping that they will be able to find some common ground and Matt will be happy.

I can not believe some of the negative rubbish on here. Every other Club show respect to their past heroes. Not Saints! Allsorts of crap is constantly coming out from all directions. It's good that MLT and NC are going to talk. Why doesn't Cortese just say OK:A) The Ex Saints Association can have a box at reasonable cost.B) LMc can have a seat in the Directors Box. C) All 'icons' like MC, MLT, JS, FB etc, etc to be welcomed to the Club every time they visit and introduced on the pitch. Terry Paine ought to have an influence on this in his new exalted position. These are things that make a Club - not just a money driven race to massage personal egos!

Whatever we acheive in the future there should be these important links to the past.

Hi Leicestersaint,

You're obviously a big Le tiss fan, I can tell. However it might be worth pointing out your opinion rather than just keep saying 'ridiculous' to everything you don't agree with. This will help us to see your side of the argument and not just think you are a Le tiss mentalist with his face tattooed on your chest. Please remember that not everything he does off the pitch is so great as on the pitch. Do you remember his cocktail bar which failed and then turned into a stip bar which also failed? What I am trying to say that despite being a genius on the pitch, he is also capable of being a bit dumb off the pitch. This doesn't stop him being a nice guy or a saints fan (Tottenham fan really but..) or a saints legend.

Probably because going public was the only way to put pressure on Cortese to stop being a ***t.

I suspect the best way to stop Cortese being a ***t is to go see him in private and talk it out like mature blokes - admit failings on both sides and resolve the issue - public exposure is only going to put folks backs up...

I disagree. I don't think Cortese would have seen any point in a meeting if it wasn't for the bad PR he is getting.

Hopefully they will sort their differences out now and everyone will be happy bunnies.

MLT is a legend to us.......not to someone new to the club whose only experience of him as the person whose group held up the purchase of the club and so in turn cost us the ability to be ready for a promotion push in the first season where our fortunes turned (not getting promotion in the first season did rob ML of the opportunity of seeing the first part of his dream coming to fruition). NC,s other experience of him is that he is in the media spouting off in a negative way.

Now I suggest that NC is not going to have a respect of MLT based on that.

BUt this is the problem - we ASSUME this is the case because of the implications of the stuff Matt and others go on about in public - with no presentation of the other side of the story. Be honest you do NOT know this as fact, but are basing it on the stuff matty and others have said, not on any personal experience with NC.

I have no idea whether NC is decent, miserable or a complete &*&&*, because i have never met him or discussed anything with him, so I can not make assumptions on his character - certainly not from only ever hearing one side of the story. I can only judge by the outcome and when he spoke 1 on 1 with Punch in PRIVATE the situation was resolved and the clud have benefitted. My only conclusion from this can be Cortese IS someone who will bury the hatchet and move on. If Matt and Cortese can resolve this, then its great for the club, but Matt will need to avoid sn iggering with Stelling and his 'mates' on Sky in some sort of victory fashion if it is - that would just be immature and wate what should be seen as a positive step.

Fans WANT the club to acknowledge the past and for our heroes to be part of the future as well - but it wont happen if they see it as some sort of RIGHT to be able to make very personal insults in public when egged on by 'jokers' like Stelling and Merson.

I must admit, that is another bitter comment from MLT. No reason for that at all. Could have easily just said ''Yes, in a few weeks. Hope we can get a resolution'' - but no, he decides to go all sarky. I wouldn't be surprised if NC cancelled it based on that.

I hope they do come to some sort of agreement here, because it's petty beyond belief.

its what Matty wants..then he can then go into another hump about it all...this is all personal really and absolutely f-all to do with football....

No it's not. Le tiss is dead right in what he's said.

sadly, I agree 100%.

Matt's glorious career is long past, and I'm surprised he still has as much " pulling power " as he seems to have in some quarters.

Having said that you can't judge someone without knowing them,

I suspect that NC has an open mind on the matter (whatever it is that's so important for MLT to complain about )...I haven't heard any vitriolic outbursts coming from Cortese.. whereas MLT seems to take every media sound bite to further to denegrate Cortese.

I have a certain degree of respect for both men for their various professional achievements, but I hope for the sake of the club, that they can see eye to eye on matters, or else.... this will escalate into a very unpleasant issue that won't go away quickly.....especially at a time when we need a show of solidarity at SMS.

Saw this tweet

"@djroyal29: @mattletiss7 have u got a date for meeting with NC yet, good chance of 3 point tmrw"

Matt's reply

"@mattletiss7: @djroyal29 yes hes managed to squeeze me in in 4 weeks time!"

someone tell me what priority a former player has in the Chairman's scheduling ?

I've been a fan for over 50 years (thoughI'm not with David Bull or Herbie Taylors' status).. .but I don't expect to get an interview with NC either.

None of us know what Cortese is doing with his time, and just because most people can only see far enough ahead to the next fixture, it doesn't mean that we can expect NC to drop everything and get involved in a slanging match (which will undoubtedly be recounted punch for punch by MLT on Sky if he doesn't get satisfaction) for whatever it is that's bothering him.....Was he so upset at NOT becoming Club Chairman with Pinnacle.?.....or does he have another agenda ?

I think MLT should hold his tongue.... until after " the meeting ", when he's got something to ponder over.....and hopefully he won't continue this witch hunt.

Just read the Echo article , I know its the echo article , but you are still one of my all time favourites, but you should not be blabbing to the press, keep your own counsel not inflame the situation before the meeting.

Yes franny is a true legend but if there is a difference between the two on a not footballing matter , then let due process take place.

Matty You have not help by speaking to the echo, after all they have their own negative agenda against the club. long before NC arrived.

Act professionally in this matter and not as a barrack room lawyer.

All he had to do was say a meeting had been agreed and leave it at that until the meeting took place. Instead he had more digs in the press about it and then The Echo decided to go about it. I'm not suprised it's been cancelled

Agreed, Cortese probably saw that sarcastic little comment and thought "fine, f*ck ya then".

I'd imagine this statement from Saints that Simon Peach was talking about will reveal a little more, however.

Im not surprised its cancelled considering that he keeps digging in the press, I loce Matt for what he did on the pitch but my opinion on him is souring. He would have had the meeting if it had been kept quiet. But he couldnt help himself to have a pop or two.

Im beginning to think Matty is more interested in painting Cortese as the devil rather than try to build favour again and unit the club.

Sad really
