Mikey88 Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Massive lump in my throat watching this from 2 mins 20 in. What wouldn't you give to have him playing at his best for us again!
bpsaint Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Could have been an absolute legend for us if he'd managed to get his head right. How we could have done with a fit Marian in the relegation season of 04/05 or at the Cup Final.
Crazy Diamond Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Are we saying Marian Pahars at his best would get in our side these days? I'm not sure he would.
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Are we saying Marian Pahars at his best would get in our side these days? I'm not sure he would. I would say so...at his best...hell yes...would have him right side of an attack.. but we played a different system then...pahars in his pomp was a very dangerous premier league striker who was capable of moments of brilliant skill too
corsacar saint Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Class player, with out the hypocondria,Marian Pahars, could well have become a legend at this club.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Could have been an absolute legend for us if he'd managed to get his head right. How we could have done with a fit Marian in the relegation season of 04/05 or at the Cup Final. He will always be a Saints legend for me. Class player who kept us up in the late 90's.

Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Yes but the Premier League then is quite different to the Premier League now. not massively..if anything, it was probably better then...

Sparky_Mark Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 One of my favourite players growing up as a kid, love that man!
Frank's cousin Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Great player - legend for me - now manager of Latvian U21s -deserves to do well
Alain Perrin Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 When he was good, he was very very good, when he was bad he was awful. Yes he scored some great and vital goals in his early years, but in his later life at the club he was a waste of space. All except for the 20 mins or so and his goal vs. Pompey. IMHO we spent too long waiting for him to get fit and that was very disruptive at a crucial time. We'd have been better of getting someone else in and saving his wages because he was a right malingerer. We made a similar mistake with M. Svensson - albeit his injury was genuine.
Golden Balls Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 He would 100% get in our team at his best now. Could beat a man with pace, kept the ball and was one of the best finishers we've had at the club in my time of being a supporter.
davefizzy14 Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Marian was class, would easily get in our current tram. One of my all time favourite players
St Steve Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Always thought he was over rated and we should have got rid alot earlier than when we did.
Turkish Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Are we saying Marian Pahars at his best would get in our side these days? I'm not sure he would. Course he would, he's be brilliant down the right side. Pace, skill. Was a class player when he was fully fit.
Crazy Diamond Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Course he would, he's be brilliant down the right side. Pace, skill. Was a class player when he was fully fit. I must say I never saw him in his glory years, but it just occurs to me that the Premier League has evolved so he might look as good now. Just speculating. We made a similar mistake with M. Svensson - albeit his injury was genuine. Was thinking this the other day. It says a lot about the state of the Club back then that we gave him so many chances and waited as long as we did. With hindsight it was perfectly obvious he'd never come back anywhere near his best, if at all.

With hindsight it was perfectly obvious he'd never come back anywhere near his best, if at all. It also says a lot about how good both these players were when fit and at their best Watched the Pompey game the other night and just kept waiting to see his goal For a little guy he scored a lot of headers
