Avenue Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 What a performance! Never seen utd BATTERED like that all half by ANY team, and that at Old Trafford. Wow, just wow!
Special K Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Fed up with being plucky losers. Take the chances, win the game, then we can crow.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Fed up with being plucky losers. Take the chances, win the game, then we can crow. + 5
Turkish Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 We still lost and i felt we didn't get the ball into the area quick enough at times, always wanting to play it into the box when Lambert caused them chaos when we got it into him. Although that is two games against United we've narrowly lost and we've been the better side in both of them and arguably could and probably should have won them both. We were excellent second half though and United were clinging on a bit.
The Majestic Channon Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Calm down...a good performance counts for nothing without goals.
Denzil Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Fed up with being plucky losers. Take the chances, win the game, then we can crow. Exactly this.
stug76 Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 On reflection, a draw would probably been a fair result. Although, it was united that had the better chances and looked more threatening when near the goal. They have that little bit of craftsmanhip and quality that we don't (no surprise really). Too often we end up chucking it in to Ricky rather than being patient. Oh well, good night if we can match United from where we've come from. It's happening baby!!!!!
Avenue Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Author Posted 30 January, 2013 Work in progress chaps. Yes, it was a loss, but seeing fergie's face bricking it in his home patch, was just lovely... Those multi millionaire utd players, looked lost.. Come on you saints!!
dronskisaint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 You miserable clunts...sure we lost, most do at Old Toilet but ffs take some pleasure from how we played!!!!!
Andre Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 We've got everything but the end product and the creativity. Get those, and then we'll be talking.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 We drew away at Chelsea - much better result than tonight
Avenue Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Author Posted 30 January, 2013 We drew away at Chelsea - much better result than tonight Lol... You're a funny one aren't you?
Matthew Le God Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Pochettino has Saints playing a very high pressing game when the opposition have the ball in defence. Very risky, but on countless occasions Utd gave the ball away when pressured by packs of Saints players in United's half or the Utd defence lumped it long. We won't go down playing like this, as long as we finish our chances.
James_O_Mac Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Whilst proud of the performance - At 2-1, Man U had the luxury of inviting us forward, and hoped to spring a counter attack. For large parts of the game they had 8 or 9 players behind the ball. Still great to watch, I love Lambert but I wish we had a bit more flair up front. Pochettino seemed to nail all 3 subs as well, changed the dynamics of our play.
Dr Who? Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 We drew away at Chelsea - much better result than tonight Do not agree, Chelsea are terrible ATM.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Lol... You're a funny one aren't you? We got a point at Chelsea (european champions) We got nothing tonight
View From The Top Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Only a c**t wouldn't be impressed with the 2nd half & understand that it's the cornerstone and the confidence it will give the players for the battles ahead.
Avenue Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Author Posted 30 January, 2013 Only a c**t wouldn't be impressed with the 2nd half & understand that it's the cornerstone and the confidence it will give the players for the battles ahead. True.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 I went into this game expecting nothing - no points - no satisfaction. OK, we got no points, but I got huge satisfaction seeing my team outplay Utd's mega-£m's team for a large proportion of the game. I'm proud of that performance and after just one week in charge, our new Manager is definately starting to make a difference. Of course the Cortese haters will be out in force too, trying to find the negatives.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Only a c**t wouldn't be impressed with the 2nd half & understand that it's the cornerstone and the confidence it will give the players for the battles ahead. Who is not impressed with the 2nd half?
Gambol2K9 Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Fed up with being plucky losers. Take the chances, win the game, then we can crow. Don't forget where we were two years ago.
sotonjoe Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Don't forget where we were two years ago. Yeh, winning games.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Its all about going into Wigan game with confidence which we will now. Had we been stuffed tonight it would have knocked us. OK we dont have anything to show for our great 2nd half performance but confidence is invaluable in football. cheer up guys
OttawaSaint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Good performance and 0 points means jack it we get turned over on Saturday...
Daren W Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 (edited) Only a c**t wouldn't be impressed with the 2nd half & understand that it's the cornerstone and the confidence it will give the players for the battles ahead. Oh my god! How could anybody who watched that game come away feeling negative about Southampton football club? One of the best away performances you will see an old Trafford, Full stop! We Absolutely dominated the second half and the full time stats show we had a Close to 60% of the possession at old Trafford for gods sake! Never been so proud of Saints at Old Trafford.. Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Who are your four mates? Alpine, Dalek, sotonjoe and MLG
sfc4prem Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 A good performance that rewarded us with the grand amount of ZERO points. Wigan is a must win now
sotonjoe Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Alpine, Dalek, sotonjoe and MLG He said, "Mates." Not Mongboard aliases.

My son-in-law is a Utd fan and said that he was relieved to come away with the 3 points tonight ! Reckons that we are one of the few teams that were not afraid to have a go at Old Trafford where they hardly ever drop any points ! With 21 shots on goal, we can never be accused of being negative, that's for sure !
warsash saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Posted 30 January, 2013 Alpine, Dalek, sotonjoe and MLG What an episode of Come Dine with Me that would be !
Junior Mullet Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 We are a couple of signings and about half a season away from something special. We have a very talented young team who will be a match for most next year and will have that little bit of Prem savvie we've lacked at times this year. The future is very exciting.
Deanovski Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 spoilt c*nts, very happy with that performance.
dronskisaint Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Yeh, winning games.[/ Div 3 mentality..you know where you belong---------------
mikee Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 Only a c**t wouldn't be impressed with the 2nd half & understand that it's the cornerstone and the confidence it will give the players for the battles ahead. unfortunately there are far too many of those on here.
LostBoys Posted 31 January, 2013 Posted 31 January, 2013 A pity about the finishing and the defending wasn't clever. I cannot see how Wigan will live with a performance like the second half. A must win game cliche or no.
