Smirking_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Everton looked scared sh*tless of him, not playing great tonight, but then none of our work in final third has been quality TBH Bit of an over reaction though Dune
Saintandy666 Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 In fairness, pretty much the whole team has been silenced by Man U. I can't really thing of anything particularly wrong Ramirez has done bar that free kick... but that happens sometimes.

Smirking_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 he does look the complete opposite at home doesnt he... As much as I want to defend him, yes he does, strange as he looks like he is playing widish left again tonight, but movement in front and around him has been poor Also slightly not on topic, but no players have got close to Lambert for his knockdowns either Punch isnt setting the world alight tonight either So its not just Gaston

Saints foreva Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Bologna president certainly seems to have got the better of Nic. I think £6m would have been a fair price for Gaston, he managed to get double that.

Viking Warrior Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Stupid thread I bet united had done there work on puncheon and gaston. Realising they would be a threat. Saint Garrett Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Yep I agree, Davis does a lot Of work that goes unnoticed though. Keeps things simple, whereas Gaston tries to do something special a lot and therefore gives the ball away quite a lot. Not sure where it leaves us for the Wigan game though. J-Rod done well tonight think he does the job MP wants him to do, and I want to see Lallana back in...
corky morris Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Have to say I thought he was poor tonight. Far too light weight in my opinion. I texted VFTT at half time & said we should take him & Puncheon off as they were both very poor. He is without doubt a quality footballer, but needs to muscle up a bit for the PL. supersonic Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 his fitness is more of a worry for me. since he's signed, we've played 19 league games, he's only played the 90 minutes in 6 (been subbed off in 7 and missed 5 completely with 1 appearance from the bench)
Junior Mullet Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 I hate the way he gives away silly petulant free kicks. It gives possession away too easily and gives the other team a break from our pressing. He never looks up for it playing on the left of the AM3. pimpin4rizeal Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 i think its basically cos hes playing out of position, when he plays behind the striker he looks our main attackin threat. he certainly looked assed against everton, he was probably our hardest workin player against them. basically when rodriguez starts up front with lambert behind gastons gonna suffer

J-Rod done well tonight think he does the job MP wants him to do, and I want to see Lallana back in... For me Puncheon is the one that needs to be dropped, he had his last good match a while back. He's losing possession to much and needs to keep it simple. Either cut inside and shoot or knock the ball past the fullback and cross (*simplification warning*). The effort is there at the moment but apart from the occasional flash there's no end product. If we start with Lallana on the left, Ramirez central and Rodriguez on the right I think we're playing our best team right now.

tajjuk Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 A while back ? Chelsea wasn't that long ago surely ? He's got a slight point, yes JP was good at Chelsea and he's scored some important goals, but just like Gaston he has a tendancy to go missing in games. To be honest we have 3 fairly young Attacking midfielders behind Rickie in Gaston, Lallan, and Puncheon (yeh he's not that young but development wise he is as he's only started getting his act together in the last few years) and they can ALL be inconsistent. They all have bundles of talent, technically very good but I don;t think the mental side of their games are quite their yet but remember for all of them it's really their first time in this league (Puncheon has a few prem appearances before) they are learning and improving, but I think we have to expect the rough with the smooth. Gaston was excellent against Everton, work rate, running at people, getting shots off, creating chances and we looked ordinairy once he tired. Last night not so good, same with Puncheon, times this season he's been one dimensional and lost possession, then he has games like Chelsea where he shows his quality. It just shows that we need at least one quality option here if not two to provide competition and alternatives to these three when they aren't 'on it'. Still think Gaston will be a world class player, he's got all the talent but he's only 22 give him some time.
