The Kraken Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Back at club at mo after loan spell at forest! Off to Manchester tonight, wonder if he will be given a chance here under MP or loaned out again? Still he's worth a go personally He doesn't have a break in his loan; his loan goes straight through to the end of the season. According to an interview he gave to Sky at the start of the season it was a clause he insisted upon, that he wouldn't come back here. So unless there's been a change in that I'd say its very unlikely he's back with us. Probably just up there watching Saints as Forest heven't got a game. Smirking_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Hmm, he is in Nottingham and he is going to Old Trafford, not exactly back at the club is it ? Not that we have not gone over it 100 times, Sharp isnt good enough and comparing him to Lambert is somewhat laughable

david in sweden Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 I seem to recall that Aaron Martin was supposed to be a "season-long " loan at Palace... but the clubs mutually agreed to cancel the agreement. Perhaps such " return " clauses are more common than we thought ?
Smirking_Saint Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 I think he is still a regular at Forest so very much doubt they or us would want to mutually cancel the deal
Webby Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 You'd have thought that a new manager would want to see what players are at his (possible) disposal. I don't know the details of the loan, but whatever, I think Billy could be useful coming off the bench in a situation where we're pinging balls into the box late in the game to try to get an equaliser or even a winner. He's a poacher and knows where the net is, gotta give him that.

sotonjoe Posted 30 January, 2013 Share Posted 30 January, 2013 Why is there so much aggro in this thread? We should all be happy tonight. Saints put in a cracking performance. Can't we just get behind the team FFS.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 Get him back. Good addition to the squad. Injury's happen and if no strikers are coming in then we need back up. Specially if there's a few on the off. Sharp will always score goals. Our worst problem is we have a 12 million Ramirez who will play as he cost so much. This limits our strikers as can only play one at a time. In my opinion we desperately need some legs up top I think he wants to play with rickie up top and maybe buy another quality winger and have rickie and rod competing for that spot with some benchers as back up if called upon. Assuming Ramirez is in his plans Having a player like Ramirez is good but not for 12 million as It would be nice to see 2 quality strikers up top and that won't happen as its to much money to warm the bench. If he could also play out wide it would be ok but I think he's best just playing off a loan striker.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 We don't play 2 up front. And I'd we do, both Lambert + Jrod are better
trousers Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 I think Sharp could be our Adam Le Fondre....striker to come off the bench in final quarter to get in the box and cause some grief. Whether or not he'd be happy with a 'super sub' role is another matter
Shroppie Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 (edited) He might just fit the MP mould - energetic, hard-working player who will press well and defend from the front. And come up with a few goals. Edited 31 January, 2013 by Shroppie

student Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 Nothing to lose having him on the bench. In Sharp, Lambert, Rodriguez and Mayuka you have 4 strikers who all offer something completely different. Something which in invaluable in the top flight
saintneilo84 Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 I think he can do for us what Le Fondre does for Reading, come on with 20 mins to go and get us the old goal or two. He is an out and out goal scorer.

SuperMikey Posted 31 January, 2013 Share Posted 31 January, 2013 As an impact player he might have a role to play, but with Adkins gone and him having been farmed out on loan I doubt he'd want to come back without promises about first-team football we can't really make (he's said so himself in an interview). Jay tends to look a little clueless sometimes as did Billy but he works hard and is a quality finisher. The difference between the 2 looks to be their strength when on the ball.
