Back at club at mo after loan spell at forest! Off to Manchester tonight, wonder if he will be given a chance here under MP or loaned out again? Still he's worth a go personally

He doesn't have a break in his loan; his loan goes straight through to the end of the season. According to an interview he gave to Sky at the start of the season it was a clause he insisted upon, that he wouldn't come back here. So unless there's been a change in that I'd say its very unlikely he's back with us. Probably just up there watching Saints as Forest heven't got a game.

FFS he is on loan at Forest til the end of the season. He will never play for us again!

he tweeted some bloke asking if he was back at southampton with the answer 'yep' ...fair play if he is still at Forest but not quite sure it was worthy a FFS lol!! You are an angry young man!! Maybe Billy was joking!

Some people really do need to calm down with replies on here. It isn't a battle ground....

Isn't he merely going to watch the game at Old Trafford tonight? It is a season long loan at Nottingham Forest.

Hmm, he is in Nottingham and he is going to Old Trafford, not exactly back at the club is it ?

Not that we have not gone over it 100 times, Sharp isnt good enough and comparing him to Lambert is somewhat laughable

You'd have thought that a new manager would want to see what players are at his (possible) disposal. I don't know the details of the loan, but whatever, I think Billy could be useful coming off the bench in a situation where we're pinging balls into the box late in the game to try to get an equaliser or even a winner. He's a poacher and knows where the net is, gotta give him that.

When I spoke to billy he told me that saints had the option to recall him in the January transfer window but he didn't expect it to happen......I'm guessing things have changed.

I heard that was the case with all season long loans, so yeah, there may be something in that. Who knows?

Get him back. Good addition to the squad. Injury's happen and if no strikers are coming in then we need back up. Specially if there's a few on the off. Sharp will always score goals.

Our worst problem is we have a 12 million Ramirez who will play as he cost so much. This limits our strikers as can only play one at a time.

In my opinion we desperately need some legs up top

I think he wants to play with rickie up top and maybe buy another quality winger and have rickie and rod competing for that spot with some benchers as back up if called upon. Assuming Ramirez is in his plans

Having a player like Ramirez is good but not for 12 million as It would be nice to see 2 quality strikers up top and that won't happen as its to much money to warm the bench. If he could also play out wide it would be ok but I think he's best just playing off a loan striker.

I think Sharp could be our Adam Le Fondre....striker to come off the bench in final quarter to get in the box and cause some grief. Whether or not he'd be happy with a 'super sub' role is another matter

He might just fit the MP mould - energetic, hard-working player who will press well and defend from the front. And come up with a few goals.

Nothing to lose having him on the bench.

In Sharp, Lambert, Rodriguez and Mayuka you have 4 strikers who all offer something completely different. Something which in invaluable in the top flight

I miss Billy. Absolutely crucial player in last year's run-in, will always be mad we loaned him out I think he would've scored a good few.

Would he have scored more than Jay so far? In my opinion absolutely.

Depends how much he would've been played. Rodriguez has appeared in almost every match, but he did cost £7mil.

Posted

As an impact player he might have a role to play, but with Adkins gone and him having been farmed out on loan I doubt he'd want to come back without promises about first-team football we can't really make (he's said so himself in an interview).

Jay tends to look a little clueless sometimes as did Billy but he works hard and is a quality finisher. The difference between the 2 looks to be their strength when on the ball. Jay always seems to get muscled off...

Billy isn't going to be playing for Saints again and if he was good enough for the prem, he'd be playing in it already.

DE-LUD-ED if you think he's coming back or is a better option to what we have

Like is lambert was good enough last season. Or Morgan ETC

I think he would have made a more positive impact this season than mayuka has thus far...

If that is DE-LUD-ED

so be it

Rodriguez has far, far superior movement though and will improve whereas with Sharp what you see is the best you will get.
