Would be very disappointed if this was the case

I still think he's got the potential to be extremely effective for us. Not sure what's he's done wrong other than been unlucky with injury.

Thought MP would take a good look at him

Other than be absolutely sh*te in every game he's played this season you mean?

Last season I thought he looked a top player with bags of potential. Maybe the step up to the Premier League was too big for him, or injuries have knocked back his progression.

Remember, he's a Japanese international like Yoshida, and the latter is turning out to be a quality signing the more he plays.

Think that was more to do with his footballing ability than his pace. I simply just don't think he's that good. Also doesn't fit in to how we play

Don't think for a moment we can trot out the "Doesn't fit in with the way we play" argument.

The Transfer Committee will have know the mantra since it was founded 4-3-3 from the kids to first team. So say he doesn't fit in then the Committee can't have wanted him so he would be an NA signing which would then dissolve the forum again :)

It's going to be a hard burden to carry in life - knowing you were not as good as SDR

You dont think having the national team captain nullifies the loss of Lee for the fanbase perspective?

****PEDANT ALERT**** If I remember correctly, I think Yoshida was the captain of the Olympic team. So although good, probably not that famous, who was the GB Captain? Was it Giggsy? ****PEDANT ALERT OVER****

It would be a real shame to see Lee go, I think he is a top player who has on occasion shown real promise. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, he's just not making it into the 1st team and for that reason alone i'm sure he's itching to move on and play first team football.

Also, the song for him is one of my personal favourites.

Yeah that response was a tad aggressive, no need

Usual response from one of our resident trolls. In addition to his usual nasty reponses to almost any subject, he- also has a bit of a personal dislike of Lee. Assume this is a re-hash of the FC Tokyo story a week or so ago. Lee certainly showed potential last season, but seems to have lost his way since his injury. Links up really well with Lambert but hasn't been given that chane in his 3 apps so far this season.

Why was it trolling? When has he played well this season? Name the matches. The managers seems to agree with me as he cant get near the team the team this season. As i've said before, he looked good last season again mid to lower table championship sides, so did Danny Fox. Dismiss it as trolling if you like or your already ridiculous suggestion that I dont like him it's to do with him being Japanese when i'm already on record as saying Yoshida is an excellent signing which kind of p*sses on that accusation doesn't it, nice try though. It's not a case of not liking him, it's the case that i dont rate him, because he's done nothing to suggest he is a premier league player. Same as Steve De Ridder. Same as Ryan Dickson. Same as Jos Hooliveld. Same as Danny Butterfield. Still dont that that get in the way of your spouting bullsh it.

Name the games where he's played well. Tell me what he's done to suggest he can be good enough. Tell me.

Jury's out whether he's got the footballing ability. A few cup appearances out of position in a makeshift side dont really count but obviously the management see alot more of him behind the scenes.

My understanding is that he likes it here but doesnt have the emotional nous and maturity to really buckle down and assert himself (partly cultural). The result is that he's drifted. It's telling that Yoshida who's a few years younger than Lee effectively treats him like a kid brother. Guess it wouldn't matter if he had bags of talent -he doesnt- so as it is no great loss.

careful fella, you'll be accused of trolling and not liking him because he's Japanese by some of the helmets on here.

I remember coming away from the Barnsley game last year being really excited about him. Put in a great shift that day and then his injury put all that on hold.

I know that was a different level of football but I still believe that he'd add something to the team if he was given a chance. I guess the competition's just a bit too strong for him to get that chance, though.

Bit of a one-trick pony imo.

The 'one' being what exactly? Impossible to judge at Premiership level as aprt from a rare cameo appearance he has not been able to show what he can do. At CCC level he held the line well, showed pace, trickery, enthusiasm and decent tackling back. Let's see what MP can get out of him. A good opportunity if he is the one to fill in for Guly tomorrow.

I hope it's a loan because we have invested in his talent. Through serious injury he has not had the time to fulfil his promise and has consequently lost confidence. With regular games he could develop into a fast, skilful winger and goalscorer for us in the future.

Not sure if you're both joking or not, but do you really think we've paid out £500k+ just to raise our profile in Japan?

He was a free transfer, and could clearly do a job in the NPC and was an alternative to what we had last season. No real surprise he's hardly had a look in though since Maya has been here.l

Think we need to wait and see what Pochettino and his coaching staff can get out of all of our players. Still not convinced that the Adkins,Crosby,Wilkins combo got all that much extra out of some of the players. Think on the coaching side they were out of their depth, mainly because they hadn't enough experience with the quality of player they were asked to coach.

He wasn't brought to Saints to play football.

He's done an excellent job at raising our profile in Japan.

He can leave now an actual Japanese footballer is here

If this is true (which I don't think it is) Then this the most stupid ill though out idea ever. Lee is thought of as being a Korean in Japan and does not attract any attention what so ever. Once Maya signed, we started to get on TV over there, usually the grave yard match after the Man U game and the Kagawa talking has finished. Lee doesn't get any more of a mention than Lee Barnard.

That could be true or players of Lee's ilk and ability could be simply crap?

Would still like to see the guy get a decent crack of the whip.

I thought he looked decent when he first came in this time last year. Nasty injury & a big jump in quality won't have helped him settle, as let's face it that is what he was still doing.

If not, moving on would probably suit all parties involved. Shame though.

De Ridder is in front of him on the bench. Enough said.

Shame, because I quite liked him.

De Ridder was in front of him on the bench, we now have a new manager and coaches more likely to appreciate the technicality of players. Think we'll see a lot of changes in style although maybe it will take a while.

De Ridder is a headless chicken, runs around a lot but very little end product at present.
