Southampton currently hold the record for the number of fans at the new Wembley Stadium by one club, taking 44,000 to their Football League Trophy final victory over Carlisle in 2010. Millwall hold the record at the old Wembley when they brought 47,000 fans against Wigan Athletic in the Football League Trophy final in 1999.

Also trying to find out if any other club has scored more than four goals in a final at the (newish) Wembo?

Skates and Cardiff hold the highest attendance but the best fans in the world ™ didnt take 44'000.

Hard to see that stat being beaten, whether it is 44k or 54k,

Would have to be a massive club v a tiny one in a JPT final, the massive club to get a massive allocation and the tiny one not to want more than a tiny allocation .... not going to happen is it?

Millwall fans often quote this on their mongboard when discussing why they need a 50,000 stadium.

They forget 20% of that figure probably are doing some time, have a banning order or are on tag.

Makes it even more impressive they took 50k to Wembley then. Probably need 60k in that case.

Don't they have a penchant for buying the same seat twice at Millwall?

Now that was comedy gold wasn't it!! "Stuwall" trying to buy his own season ticket. Tried to find the link but you have have to be a member of the Milwalll House of Fun site.

Is that where you pick up tips for your Danny Dyer persona?

If Turks is even half the man Danny Dyer is, I am scared, and would suggest that some kind of Boys From Brazil scheme to populate the world with cheeky cockneys is happening.

The Official number & the Club Wembley numbers don't include a significant number of Northern based Saints who could not get tickets via SMS but because of their postcodes were able to register and buy from Carlisle.

There was a thread on here at the time about it IIRC

NC tried to get the tickets for the sections opposite the Royal Box as he didn't want to look out onto empty seats when there was still a big demand for tickets. In the big Radio Solent interview around that time, he mentioned that he approached the FA for the extra tickets with the offer of supplying our own Stewards from SMS, but was very disappointed when the FA turned him down especially as he had done some consultancy work as a favour for the FA. If I recall correctly his words were more or less that he would think twice about offering his advice so eagerly in the future.

If the FA had played ball it would have been very interesting to have seen just how many folks we would have taken............ Little Southampton taking 65,000 fans to Wembley for a 3rd/4th Division cup final!! That would have made folks sit up.

I managed to blag our company box for this game. Funnily enough there weren't many Saints or Carlisle fans at my company at the time so the take up for the paint pot final was pretty slow, however one of the company's (who I dealt with) biggest clients was a big Saints fan living in London. Did a fag packet business case to get him there and ended up hosting him, his son, another sound as f*** client whose mate is a Saints fan, my brother, couple of mates, the missus' dad and his Dad on a absolutely top day! Our box next to Lawrie Mac, really nice fella that signed a couple of complimentary programme for my nephews.

Brilliant day, was jealous of my mates in the Saints end as it looked a right laugh there, then I consoled myself with some more smoked salmon washed down by my 10th free beer of the day before meeting our Bet Fred girl who delivered me by winnings for 3+ goals and Lambert 1st goalscorer and having a chat with Jose Fonte who popped into our box 45 minutes after the game by mistake whereby we essentially held him hostage.

Carlsberg don't do Cup Finals.....

GREAT DAY...

Whatever the actual number was, it sure did look like a lot of Saints fans! What a great day it was too :)

It's a flippin joke really when we can't fill the stadium even for ManUre's visit. Plastic fans indeed!
