Is the issue between MLT and NC a professional or a personal one?

as I am fooked if I can find anything....all well and good for Matt to come out and say about NC not being a nice person...but what, why and where...

the lack of any details is somewhat weird....and if it is a personal issue then how embarrassing to air your personal issues in the media...

but is his problem a professional one and matt knows stuff that NC is doing that will ruin the club for years to come...?

personally....I would rather matt just shut up unless he tells us exactly what his problem is..but he is free to do what he likes etc

From the discussion I had with Matt, he is annoyed by the alleged incident about Francis Benali and the non payment of bills. Something that should really be left to a court to decide who is right/wrong.

That shouldn't result in a one-way public slanging match on a weekly basis in local/national newspapers, local national radio, local/national TV.

For the good of the fanbase, they need to resolve this.

The fanbase is fine, only a few weirdos on here are bothered by it all.

and a couple on the UI.....one thing I notice reading MLT FB and twitter pages..slowly, more and more fans are asking him to stop it (unless he comes out and gives details of what his problem is)

now you have Boris, AKA StuRomseySaint on the uglies saying Terry Paine is a sell out by agreeing to be the Club President and NC puppet

holy shyte.....

The one thing you'l always get from le tiss is an honest opinion. It is a coincidence he works in the media and, as a saints legend, his views are often called upon about the club.

Im sure, if asked how we felt, plenty of us would express these views without concern.

He thinks Cortese is a tool, right or wrong, he's entitled to feel that way and say so.

From my perspective, the circle of "ex saints" which are the most vocal about NC have let personal issues and agendas shape all of this. People are quick to forget that we have ex saints employed by the club and others who are recognised for their past contributions so this theory that NC is trying to wipe out the clubs history is a nonesense. It's all just mates sticking up for mates in a select circle.

Its personal, its blown out of proportion and I for one am bored by it. It is irrelevant. Much more interested in what is happening with the football. Sky are trying to stir it up but its clear from the reaction they are getting from Saints fans that most really don't give a toss. There are about 4 people on here who seem to have a problem, two of whom have an obsession with their imaginary Cult of Cortese. I really do not care much about Cortese, he is current chairman, does he play football, does he coach the team, no. He just happens to be the current owner. As long as he is not a total tool like Lowe then I for one really don't give a **** about him as long as he has the best interests of the Club at heart.

From what I've heard Benali was/is angry because Cortese changed the carpet in the toilet to tiles (because he says it is more hygienic). Benali had only recently put the carpet in and was angry to find it thrown in the front garden when he went round to collect the rent. But what really upset him was that Cortese had apparently been smoking (best not ask what he was smoking ;) ) in the house when the tenancy agreement clearly states no smoking. They had a confrontation on the doorstep and Cortese apparently threatened Benali so Benali went off and came back a few hours later with Le Tissier and Mark Dennis. They all started throwing eggs at Corteses car and shouted things at him. Clearly a personal issue that has nothing to do with the club and needs resolving before it does any more damage.

It wasn't eggs. It was a banana up the exhaust pipe. They thought about the dog poo on fire through the letter box trick but Franny vetoed it what with it being still his house.

Didn't stop Gordon Watson waterbombing the house two days later though.

You have to question the character of anyone who carpets their toilet - understand it was a thick, sh*ggy one. That on top of the pine wood toilet seat....

At which point it would be good to have an input from our Swiss and Italian based fans as to how regulatians and expectations on Renting work over there.

Down here I have put up walls moved doors and stuff to change the property without ANY comments from the Landlord.

The ONLY expectation is that IF I change something then when I leave I must restore it to original condition.

IF Benali got upset about a carpet that could be replaced when NC moved out...

And who the feck carpets a bog? All blokes miss all the time NC was right on that one - it's unhygenic

In all seriousness was it not because Cortese was having a wall knocked down?

The rumour I heard ( bucket of salt required) was NC did some work in the flat without permission, there was also a dispute over money, and that Benali lost his temper and put NC up against the wall. And from that all the rancour developed.

I reiterate, this is hearsay and I have no idea how accurate this is

Cortese has had it in for Le Tiss from day one. He's done a good job for the club so it's not a big deal but Le Tiss has more than earned the right to voice his opinion.

It is Le Tissier that is holding a weekly one-way slanging match over TV/radio/newspapers, not Cortese.

Can you really blame Cortese for not doing him any favours if he continues to slag him off regularly in the press?

Le Tissier needs to meet Cortese, settle their problems and drop the constant one-way abuse in the media. It isn't helping anyone, let alone the club.

Agree that they should sort it out but you might want to think about why Matt has resorted to saying the sort of stuff he does.

Well from what he has revealed so far it isn't anything particularly groundbreaking. He is also reluctant to give Cortese any praise for his stewardship of the club what-so-ever, he merely describes him as spending someone else's money. Yes, the Liebherr money is key, but Cortese is driving the club in all areas and under his stewardship the club has improved significantly and at least appears to have a very bright future.

Doesn't exactly help its image nationally and internationally to keep seeing a key former player like Le Tissier continue the one-way feud in the media, it also helps to divide the fanbase.

Neither did suddenly sacking our previous manager; quite possibly the worst PR we've had as a club for quite some time.

Some time since the Pardew sacking perhaps? That sacking saw similar(ish) outcry from the fanbase and media, albeit on a smaller scale due to not being in the Premier League. Cortese made a tough decision then, and was subsequently shown to have been right. Has the success under him not earnt a degree of trust that he knows what he is doing to progress the club to each new level he wants it to? Yes, that will upset people on its way, but if we want Saints to be successful decisions like Cortese makes need to happen.

The "success my way and everyone else can go to hell" model?

Fine. Stop grizzling about ex players speaking out then. You can't have it both ways.

I didn't say I've been entirely happy with how the club have acted since the takeover. They could have treated people better, but yes I do think the positives the Cortese/Liebherr era have brought vastly outweigh the negatives.

For the first time in the club's history we appear to have owners that have very high ambition for the club, the business acumen and seemingly the resources to achieve their ambitions. It should be refreshing for all Saints fans and a time to enjoy our club progress. Of course there will be bumps on the way, Cortese will no doubt grate with some people with the way he goes about things, but to want him out of the club as hypochondriac does is ridiculous.

A friend of mine who works at the club told me he had it in for Le Tiss long before any of this hit the media, you can't blame Matt for being upset by being ostracised by a club he did so much for. He and Benali have been very restrained IMO.

We all want them to sort it out for the good of the club but I think club legends should be treated as such and wont change my opinion on that regardless of how much money our owners have. Some people are bought easily though it seems.

all matt has to do is tell the twitter world or on Soccer Saturday, what exactly his beef is..

the impression I get...if he does the issue would be met with a big "WHO THE HELL CARES" as it probably has nothing to do with football....and as such, will make him look very petty....

If there really is an issue between Benali and Cortese, the courts will decide who is in the right/wrong. Has that not happened already, as the whole incident was quite some time ago now?

Why are Le Tiss and Benali being "very restrained"? Why hold back? Le Tiss and his son claim to have dirt on Cortese but appear reluctant to reveal it. Could it be that they actually don't have anything or that it is so trivial no-one would care?

imo they aren't being that restraint as Le Tissier takes every opportunity he can to criticise Cortese on Soccer Saturday, local/national papers, Twitter, local national radio. It is all one-way in terms of a slanging match in media outlets.

Right or wrong, Cortese has no bond with Le Tiss... he would ahve been seen as an ex servent of the club, now being an obstacle to the unity NC wants... from the Pinnacle debacle to the siding first with LM and then with FB and using the public forum his current roles allows to have a dig... all childish on both sides and a little distracting but hardly a big issue unless you let it be one... if this keeps you awake at night you have bigger problems to worry about.

So what should that be? People who were paid huges sums given free tickets? Allowed to say what they like in public about the owners? Given a free box? The legends of 76 were all there last year with one or two obviousl exceptions... where does it stop? and lets be honest - LM fecked off to Sunderland - do you think Franny would have stayed all his career had anyone bigger wanted him on more cash? MLT LIKED being a big fish in small pond, he is on record as saying such - and sorry but being good at football and being paid 7k+ a week, does not make you feckin mother teresa who deserves some sort of life time fawning over and can do no wrong.

Cortese has fecked up on several things and teh Jury is still out on Adkins, but he has delivered what he said on the tin, whoevers money it is - Matty should be glad about how far we have come in 4 years and not get all ****ed off about a carpet and bathroom tiles - or because he is doing things his way and no longer dolloing out free tickets for 20 mates of ex players or giving 70k a week for a bit of hospitality...

It's all very petty. for example, things like Le Tiss not being allowed to buy his mates some Man Utd tickets is petty but still shows a lack of respect to a club legend. It's that lack of respect I don't like and I don't blame Matt one bit for having the hump.

There is now a whole gang of "usual suspects" who can all be guaranteed to offer a quote negative about NC. The gang consists of ex-players and an ex-manager. Has it all got to do with Benali's house? Or has it also got something to do with that NC when he and Markus arrived made it clear that ex-players didn't have any special privileges at the club. No free tickets, hospitality, etc. If I combine our history with the ex-players and managers and consider it in comparison of where we are going, what do I get? Maybe, that ex-players will contribute to the mediocrity of yesterday more than the excellence of tomorrow? I can see a lot of sense in this, however much I appreciate both MLT and Lawrie for what they did in their time.

If I was responsible for the owners' invested millions (about 100 I reckon at present) I wouldn't bet on those who seems to celebrate yesterday.

In your Opinion...

Poncing around corporates may work if you are David Beckham, but LM is sadly not quite the draw any more - becaue you are right, IF he was that big a draw, Cortese whould be paying him... dont let your hatred cloud your judgement...

I though most on here said the clubs was the FANS and that they are the only consistent thing, as owners, managers andplayers come and go, only teh fans remain loyal... so which is it to be, that one or the freebies to the exs, whilst loyal fans cant afford a ticket?

Le Tiss didn't even want freebies, he just wanted to BUY some tickets. I doubt any other club in the land would tell one of their greatest ever players they wouldn't be allowed to buy a few extra tickets.

i think you are the one with the clouded judgement if you think that is right.
