110_Persaint Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Living Legend Still Going Strong, Longest-Serving and Most Successful Manager in Saints' History OR Biggest Flop in English Football History, an Embarrassment and Blemish in the History of SFC? Discuss.
Kieran1uk Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 I generally believe he could be a Sir Alex Fergie!!! Hopefully we'll see him incorporate 'Fergie Time' into every match at the end! lol
Frank's cousin Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 If he's successful with us, he will end up at Real or other bigger club, so matters not - but with luck we may get some interesting and successful years - we'll see
JustMike Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Ask me in 20 years time! See your thread starting record is worse than miltonroader!
Badger Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Will he still be in here in two years, never mind twenty ? If it falls apart, then NC will move on to his "next stage" to deliver Champions League football, if we show rapid strides then theres the prospect of MP being lured back to Spain (Mourinho's heir apparent at Real perhaps ?). Either way, its pointless speculation.
Colinjb Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Deported in 12 months time during the second Falkland's War? Hey, we'll never know so hopefully he'll win us our first league title! Why not.
70's Mike Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 will not be hard to be our most successful foreign Manager
chocco boxo Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Statue outside a 69,000 seater St Mary's of him.
Dalek2003 Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Nope, I will still be banging on about the failure to appoint Hoddle in 2004.
dubai_phil Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Nope, I will still be banging on about the failure to appoint Hoddle in 2004. Bugger. How do you get Bacardi & Coke out of a laptop keyboard? 20 Years time? Rickie Lambert celebrate 4 years in charge and will be offered a new lifetime contract having just led us to our Second Successive World Club Cup Win over Barcelona in Osaka
Bucks Saint Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 In 20 years....we may have signed someone in the January window. Then I may have a view
Wes Tender Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Regarding the future progress of Pochettino, he'll do moderately well for a couple of seasons, getting us up to a creditable 8th or so in the second year. Then when everybody is least expecting it, he'll be fired, to be replaced by somebody else with ringing endorsements from Mourinho and Guardiola saying how the new guy will one day manage Real Madrid. The new guy will arrive to astounded comments from the football world deriding the way that such a capable manager has been dispatched and duly tell us all that he has been monitoring every Saints' kick of the ball for the past 6 months. He won't speak a word of English, but that won't matter, as all of the players will be either Spanish, Portuguese or Brazilian, so it won't be too difficult for either Cortese or the new guy to communicate with them.
SaintRobbie Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 In 20 years time, Barcelona will be calling themselves the Southampton of the Spanish South Coast and visiting our training ground. And Pompey will promote back into League 2 after 8 or 9 years out of the football league altogether. Well done the monkey-hangers for putting another nail in their coffin today, beating them on their training ground in front of less than 11000 of the greatest fans in English football.... 'When I was just a little boy.... ' I made the right decision...
percy windham Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 In twenty years time humanity will have been destroyed following the robot uprising, so this discussion is pretty pointless tbh.
Miltonroader07 Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Ask me in 20 years time! See your thread starting record is worse than miltonroader! Gee thanks Mikey, I thought the Mods hated me or is it just Miss Chalet ??
St Chalet Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Gee thanks Mikey, I thought the Mods hated me or is it just Miss Chalet ??
Wilko Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 I'll give him two years at the longest. By then he'll have for a better job or have got sacked.
Toomer Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 will not be hard to be our most successful foreign Manager Will we be still here in 20 years Mike?
lordswoodsaints Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 I expect he will get the average 2-3 years just like the majority.
CB Fry Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 He'll keep us up this season. Finish seventh next season, losing FA Cup semi at Wembley in the process. Poached by Spurs when AVB walks to go to Real Madrid in the summer of 2014.
Horton Heath Saint Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 To get rid of all those eyesores industries around the ground, disgrace, horrible. Make it all green. Up date our old ground, starting to look tatty even now. Parking for supporters, railway station at St. Marys Cortese MLT sitting together. Being Premiership, or Euro League Champions. Eastleigh winning Championship. Pompey playing Fareham Shopping Centre Football Club.
scotty Posted 26 January, 2013 Posted 26 January, 2013 Nope, I will still be banging on about the failure to appoint Hoddle in 2004. Astounding. And your prediction for finishing league position will be???.......
SaintBobby Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 will not be hard to be our most successful foreign Manager I doubt he will be better than Strachan tbh....:-)
Suomi Saint Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 He'll be gone in 18 months max. If he's a failure, Cortese will sack him. If he's a success, he'll join a bigger club. Simple.
Black Sea Saint Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 Another Jan Poortvliet, promises of total football, getting the kids through ala Barcelona, but in reality someone who had no idea what he was doing. We'll see.
Tony F Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 If it falls apart, then NC will move on to his "next stage" to deliver Champions League football..... Hey Badger - if it falls apart, the "next stage" will be Championship not Champions league. There's a difference, right???
70's Mike Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 Will we be still here in 20 years Mike? Heard NC was going to ban pensioners Pete
Saint Without a Halo Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 In twenty years time humanity will have been destroyed following the robot uprising, so this discussion is pretty pointless tbh. Ahh it all makes sense now the lack of emotions the focused goal orientated logical decison making excluding all else! Cortese is the advance guard for the robot takeover!
Saint Without a Halo Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 Astounding. And your prediction for finishing league position will be???....... Be fair to Dalek his prediction may yet be right, just 12 months later! (although 17th is a bit close for comfort this time)
Islander Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 We are just a stepping stone for him - whether he will move to a better job will be down to what he does here. In twenty years time he will be just another name in the long list of managers and we'll barely remember what he did. Whether the club's long term future benefits from him being here only time will tell. I'll be amazed if any of the current personnel who are at the club today, will still be here in 20 years. Going back 20 years, I assume Jason Dodd is the only survivor (feel free to correct me!) The only ones that will remain will be us.
Leicestersaint Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 I doubt he will be with us in two years' time - Cortese will get rid of him. Cortese seems to be modelling himself on Abramovich who has got through 9 managers in ten years - Nigel Adkins may turn out to be the longest serving manager under our great leader.
GAS Posted 27 January, 2013 Posted 27 January, 2013 Big risk. Cortese hasn't really answered the question "why have you sacked NA and appointed a manager who was sacked from their last and only position"? Apart from going on about developing the youth I feel his answers are wanting. Saying it was perfect timing for the appointment speaks volumes about his arrogance and little else. Hope he does well as he is obviously a progressive manager, just a big risk at this point in the season. Only time will tell.
Andre Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 I think he'll do okay, but I can't see any manager lasting more than a couple of years under the current running of the club (unless he does amazingly well, of course). I'm not having a go at Cortese, he's just very ambitious and unpatient. As for how Pochettino will do, I don't think he'll change the world, but he'll certainly keep us up and keep us on the move up the table.
