Please would someone explain in more simple terms what he means. I am a bit baffled. He is going to be the

new coach at Toronto in the M.L.S. starting Feb 1st.

"Nelsen's background as a central defender informs his philosophy as a coach: as far as he's concerned, the best form

of attack is defence. And that means the team as a whole, not just the back four."

"When you don't have the ball, that's when you can really work on the team - when you've got 11 bodies and one mind,

without the ball," he said.

"We really want to defend to attack - we want to score goals when we don't have the ball.

"That's a philosophy I've always had. It's hard work, it's organisation, it's repetition, it's a lot of training."

As a coach, he says his emphasis will be on grit as well as flexibility.

"This team has to be adaptable, they have to grind out results but they have to play with style and panache.

"Winning's hard - it's hard work to win games and the players have to understand that."
