Players you forgot played for us

Lloyd James, his name came up on another thread and was a real bolt from the blue for me, always thought he'd make it through into the first team ...

I might be misreading what you mean, it sounds like you think he didn't make the first team, but Lloyd James did make it into the first team and was a first team regular for a couple of years. I think he was one of the first out of the door after the takeover though, which always seemed like a shame for him after he put in a good shift during our lowest times. That's football though.

don't think he actually played for us, Villa were p*ssed off about that. Maybe a few minutes run out but seemed only to be here to drum up interest for an U21 international that was played at SMS .

Ok, consider him a player that I forgot *signed* for us (but didn't play) ;)

Alan ferking Bennett and Chris Makin. TOGETHER. The only time Alpine has ever had a point on his pre-season transfer panic thread.

Gary Monk and Mike Williamson, both Prem CBs (back ups admittedly).

Shocked that 3 people remember Shayne Bradley, I saw his debut up front at Everton, we wouldn't have scored in 10 years. Then a couple of years later we faced them with Blackstock and Best up front, in pretty much their only Prem appearances.

Stephen O'Halloran (now of Nuneaton) played for us at left back, 35 minutes against Norwich in a 1-0 defeat at St Mary's in 2008 - as did Lee Molyneux,. I'll never hear a bad word said about Dan Harding as a result.

Googling Molyneux reminded me of Paul Wotton , Oscar Gobern (is he still at Huddersfield?) and Simon Gillett who may not quite be obscure enough but I'd forgotten them alright.

One more, the kid we signed as cover in central midfield when everyone was injured or suspended who barely played but helped get us out of League One, same surname as a current player at the time, cannot for the life of me remember his name, only the arguments on here about signing "cover".

We signed a Dale Stephens from Oldham at the end of our league 1 promotion campaign, why some even told me he was the real deal, better than Morgan and should be signed up instantly.

99% sure we only signed O'Halloran to promote the Under 21 match at St Marys between England and Ireland.

Don' know if mentioned but Jan-Paul Saeijs. Didn't he want to stay here after we went down to league 1? Was all right, wasn't he?

Also:

Steven Basham

Neal Trotman

Yoann Folly (now at Aberdeen)

Jim Brennan

Jake Thomson (thought he would be good, now at Newport)

Jacob Mellis

and last but not least: Oleksiy Cherednyk and his good mate Sergey Gotsmanov. Anyone remember those?

He's playing for Charlton in the FLC, so he may actually be a decent player...

We had some (Spanish?) keeper for a pre-season friendly at Reading when we were still in the Prem. 2003? 2004?

We won 3-2 - with Fernandes scoring from the halfway line.

Our keeper saved a penalty, but it was retaken and scored by Reading.

Never saw him again.

The others I could picture but couldn't remember until reading this thread were Almeida and Pekhart.

I saw the enitre Saints career of:

Steven O'Halloran - Half an hour sub appearance

Ian Pearce - My first away game, at Scun.thorpe (and against Adkins) under Pearson.

Iago Falque - Flakey only played for us last season. Once. Home defeat to Leicester.

Jesus! I consider myself to have a very good memory for things like this, but even I don't remember that one.

Didn't Dennis Wise finish his career with us?
@

Nope. His last club as a player was Coventry, but he played for us before that (2005-06). He then became caretaker-manager for us when the saggy faced one left. And he was a youth player for us in the 80s.
