ByTheGolacs Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Having lived near Huddersfield for a dozen years until last year I think he could do a lot worse. The chairman is relatively minted (no Liebherr mind you), they have some history, a decent 24k ground (albeit with c12-14k average crowds I think). http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21184105

Interesting to see that Grayson was sacked after 12 games without a win though, that's pretty poor really.
pingwing Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Lol assumed that the 12 games is just an arbitrary number thrown out because its now nearly a week since Adkins has been sacked and therefore is fine to sign him up... Think the squad needs a serious kick up the arse anyway, plenty of under performing loan signings to sort out there...
Matthew Le God Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 I'd like to see Adkins wait until Warnock gets sacked (which might be soon) and then go for the Leeds job.
ChudSaint Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Be happy with this, got a mate who follows them so always look out for their results. He's already converted another mate who's become disillusioned with Chelsea and the Premier League. Maybe I'll be next on his radar....
Window Cleaner Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 I'd like to see Adkins wait until Warnock gets sacked (which might be soon) and then go for the Leeds job. why would they sack Warnock, he's retiring in the summer isn't he ? Might just push him out a bit earlier if there's something to be gained from that. Can't see how a new man would make much difference to them right now.
Saints Fan Dan Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 If there's one club I'd like to see Adkins at, it would be Huddersfield. After going there in League One and the close promotion race, I've got a lot of time for the club and their fans.
SaintWill71 Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Adkins should definitely bide his time. Looking at the bottom of the Prem and in the Championship there are some cracking jobs that would suit him that could be close to becoming available. (Villa, Leeds, even Newcastle)
Saint Garrett Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 He's much better going for a club on the up than one which is completely demorilised and facing relegation. He'd be better to wait untilt eh summer IMO.
sotonjoe Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Adkins would certainly be offered a bigger job than Huddersfield. This is the man about who most people were tearing their hair out once hearing he'd been sacked, and now we're suggesting he manage Huddersfield!
Thedelldays Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 would be very disappointing if adkins goes to huddersfield..he is miles better than that
student Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 He should take the Leeds job in the summer, give himself a well earned 6 month break and spend some time with the family then takeover there. You can tell their new owners dont fancy Warnock as they've given him nothing to spend, must be waiting for the new man in the summer before they put any decent money in.

Ken Tone Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 He deserves a bigger club than Huddersfield. Can't stand Leeds fans and would be sorry to see him go there in many respects, but he ought to get a team of that size. Championship, but with potential to be established prem.

Championship, but with potential to be established prem. can't see why he deserves a bigger club than Huddersfield, probably needs one though cos at S****horpe he was nothing extraordinary in the NPC. I am quite keen to see how he gets on with a team that's not got 5 or 6 prospective PL players in it actually. He hasn't had one of those since Scùnthorpe.
ART Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Nigel deserves a break and a rest and is in poll position for a top job with a club that has big finance. No rush and the way things are going there, he'd even do better at Chelsea that the current sham management.

He did a good job for us but I'm not so sure that he'll be able to repeat it elsewhere. Not without some of the "stars" that he had at his disposal. Why he even had Hooper and Jack Cork at S****horpe. Edited 24 January, 2013 by Window Cleaner

He won't get a prem job but wolves, leeds, ipswich, forest are decent shouts. Huddersfield are basically a L1 club that are punching above their weight, bankrolled by a rich fan/local businessman who's also made it clear that the spending has to be reined in. Back to back promotions are worth more than that -and while anyone could have taken us out of L1, very few thought we were flush with prem players last season. Indeed we were tipped to go down. I dont think he will personally...but I didn not think he was the 'best english manager of this generation'
Sour Mash Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 im surprised many more are not saying he will get a prem job..? I dont think he will personally...but I didn not think he was the 'best english manager of this generation' If Norwich, Fulham, Reading, Villa, Wigan, Sunderland, had a vacancy now, I could see him ending up at any of them. Adkins has been unlucky in the respect that there has been loads of movement in managerial positions in the top two divisions in the last year, lots of job that might have been good opportunites might not become available gain for a while.

You honestly don't think Norwich or Reading would? Could see Sunderland fans wanting a "big" name maybe. Which Prem jobs do you think will become available in the next few months?

Window Cleaner Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 well...just hope he avoids blackpool AND huddersfield.....some good top end NP jobs will be available in 6 months don't really see him being in a rush for another job anyway.
Sour Mash Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 well...just hope he avoids blackpool AND huddersfield.....some good top end NP jobs will be available in 6 months Depends how long he wants to be out of football. Got the feeling Adkins doesn't do sat at home watching Soccer Saturday.

Could see Sunderland fans wanting a "big" name maybe. Which Prem jobs do you think will become available in the next few months? I don't think he would get the Villa job. The other two, yeah, no problem. Of all the Prem clubs, Wigan is by far the best fit, as he was there as a player. If they stay up (actually even if they go down) and Martinez finally decides to go (to, say, Villa) then he'd be an absolute shoo-in to go there. Dave would look after him.

HE probably wouldn't get the Villa job, but he's exactly what that club needs - a massive boost of positivity. No real guarantee that any of those jobs will become available any time soon, same as for a lot of the bigger Championship clubs after the recent merry-go-round, so it depends if Adkins fancies being out of football for 6 months or not.
Thedelldays Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Depends how long he wants to be out of football. Got the feeling Adkins doesn't do sat at home watching Soccer Saturday. yeah...good point.. I reckon the summer will have....all 3 of the relegated teams (maybe not villa should they go down) some of the teams at the top of the NPC that failed to get promotion (leicester..?) Brighton...if poyet gets a move to the prem...? but their fans would NOT be happy leeds, for sure..but unless he has money to spend, the pressure to do well would be incredible maybe even a bolton...as they dont look like doing too much with dougie then there could be the surprise prem job.....
Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Huddersfield would be a good move for Nigel imho Huddersfield have some good players, money, decent/honest chairman, new(ish) ground, good fans and Patrick Stewart is a fan

I really really wonder sometimes if some people know what a good player looks like.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 what good players? all I can see is a shower of middling shîte on their squad list. I really really wonder sometimes if some people know what a good player looks like. Smithies, Gerrard, Danns (loan), Beckford (loan), Hammill, Clayton, vaughan ect all good enuff for Championship
Bearsy Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 #adders4udders trending worldwide on twitter. Probably.
charliemiller Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Been tipped a wink if Pardew doesnt start getting results Ashley will tear up his contract and go for NA . time will tell
derry Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 I don't think he will go anywhere until his severance is agreed. It took a while for us to pay up Pardew.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Smithies, Gerrard, Danns (loan), Beckford (loan), Hammill, Clayton, vaughan ect all good enuff for Championship apparently not, if they were they wouldn't be 18th now would they?

Saint_clark Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 I can easily see huddersfield getting to the prem, especially with adkins as manager.
Bearsy Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 It'll be nice for Jonno to get a fresh start I spose.
SuperMikey Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 I can easily see huddersfield getting to the prem, especially with adkins as manager. Agree, they're a club on the up. If Martinez does leave Wigan soon I would put good money on him going there, he's got a soft spot for them and they've got a great chairman.
saint lard Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 He will do a repeat job....get them promoted to the prem....then get the sack. He has found his level, brought in for progression, then not quite cutting the mustard.

Dangermouth Posted 24 January, 2013 Posted 24 January, 2013 Well Houghton got another crack at the Prem after leaving Newcastle and not exactly setting Brum alight and so did Pards, so don't see why he shouldn't get another crack at the Prem tbh. I agree with those who say wait and see what happens in the summer or maybe go abroad, even? Someone said Paolo Sousa (or w/e his name is, ex-Swans manager) is lined up for one in the States and if that QPR defender can get one, don't see why he can't. Going abroad didn't hurt the current England manger, did it? And NA's better than him. Leeds could be a good shout as well. Not Huddersfield. Agree Wigan would be a good opportunity for him too.
