Arsenal - West Ham

Neither can I, I doubt they'll own up to it either.

I'll own up to it if it makes you feel better. You lot can repeat it after every West Ham result for the rest of the season for all I care.

West Ham United and Manchester United will both be Premier League teams next season. Together.

Dig up the old thread and reread the spanners doing their maffs and odds and numbers and stuff to "prove me wrong". Effing hilarious.

West Ham as likely to go down as Man United. ie they aint going down. See you in May.

Well, if you hadn't owned up to this crass stupidity, then I would have been happy to have reminded everybody.

What was effing hilarious was not posters trying to prove you wrong with statistics, it was your continued insistence that West Ham were as likely as Manchester United to go down. It doesn't take a genius to conclude that West Ham were far more likely to go down than Man Utd, as United were already safe, whereas WH are not.

They will be fine, realistically they are probably only 9pts or so off enough points to stay up this year, as I reckon it will be around the 34 or 35 mark to stay up purely because I think so many teams are very poor this year.

However we could still easily overhaul them and that would be pleasing as they seemed very smug and over confident about their survival chances this year after we lost to them at Upton Park. As did the media, proclaiming them to be easily mid table when in reality they had a fairly kind fixture list at the start of the year.

Like all Allardyce teams they will be competitive in the league, but I don't see them progressing above anything but lower mid-table, especially with signings like Cole.

If they loose Diame to Arsenal for his release clause they will be in more trouble.

Unless you are actually going to stand up and say you think WHU are going down, I really don't care. But you won't do that.

WHU aren't going down. Just the same as Man U aren't. The two clubs are as likely as each other to go down.

The only crass stupidity on that thread was from the divs doing statistical analysis on the maths behind Manchester United getting relegated. Fu ck me.

Wes. Do you think west ham are going down?

Talk about taking each post as literally as can be?

The again, you think we will finish 10th

LoL

No, I don't think that WH will go down and I have never said that I thought they would.

Regarding me thinking that we would finish 10th, I have already pointed out that that was my pre-season prediction before we even kicked a ball in the Premiership. My knee-jerk reaction to Pochettino's appointment was that we would now be relegated. That is still a possibility, but my views have been tempered by the probability of new transfer window signings that will change our prospects.

Before you start with the LOLs, do try and get your facts straight about what I said and when.

See my post above, where I say that I don't believe that WH will go down and have never said that they will.

But I see that in your bone-headed arrogance, you still refuse to admit that where one team is top of the division and the other 12th, that they are both as likely as each other to be relegated. Statistical analysis on Man Utd going down was unecessary, as it was already impossible that they could go down. But don't try and deflect the stupidity of your assertion by trying to say that others have been more stupid. It doesn't make what you said any less stupid.

You know what was more stupid...you saying what I said was the same as saying WHU were as likely to win the league as united.

So even on your own retarded, literal terms you managed to say something more spectacularly, moronically "wrong" than I did.

So you said something more stupid than me which makes what I said less stupid. Thanks for helping out.

Lots of short term planning at that club. Allardyce contract up at the end of the season. Lots of old players who are there for 1 year, then will go and they'll be back in the same situation as they were before.

Although I don't think they'll go down this year, I can't see them progressing up the table anytime soon. Only going to get so far playing long ball.

Their form indicates free fall, their tactics (constant crosses and threaten in the air from out wide or set pieces) is starting to be more and more found out this level (aka teams other than Chelsea are planning for it) and their team is more looking like it is made up of players who will only be there if they are in the prem.

Relegation and going bust are possibilities because they are loosing/drawing to teams around them/us without a core of a team that want to be there...

Another trolling thread!

CB clearly is sure whu will stay up. Probably reasonable and correct view.

He is just emphasising point with comparison with man u. He knows its not strictly true. Guess no one would have had a issue if he had added "in my opinion".

Too late, battle lines drawn, heels dug in lol :)

As I am sad stato....using the easy, often used figure of 40 points for safety (reckon lower this year)

West ham need 13 points from last 15 games.

They have played 15 since beating us gaining 13 points!

However, over last 6, or even 11 games their form would give them 10 more points.

Their only win in last 8 games is against Norwich, worst form side.

,

Summary, think they are pretty safe, and helped by some teams performing badly, but stranger things have happened so not impossible.

Man u can't get relegated tho ;)

If I were you (which thankfully I'm not), I'd stop digging yourself even deeper into the hole you've made for yourself.

Wes Tender:

It doesn't matter how you try and dress it up, it is still the most ludicrous thing that you have said on this forum in my memory. You might as well say that West Ham have an equal chance to Manchester United of being champions. That is equally as barmy. Sometimes you're just really barking.

Observe the evidence and if capable of comprehending simple English, then you will understand that this was not an opinion of mine.

You labelling it as more moronic and stupid than what you said, means that you must logically accept that your original comment was also moronic and stupid. Thanks for helping out.

Game set and match.

Err. No. "You might as well say" is you equating what I said with something that is nothing at all like I said.

Hiliarious you've dug your own quote to mug yourself off.

Nice try from a feeble, feeble forum contributor. Pathetic.

I'll leave it to others to decide who has been the moronic prat here. It isn't up to you to decide, as you are the one who first made that idiotic statement that WH were as likely as Man Utd to get relegated.

If you like, I'll repost all the comments from other posters expressing their views that they thought it was idiotic.

So we'll finish 10th under Adkins but be relegated with MP, unless we sign new players by the end of the transfer window, yes?

Interesting post nickg, if we can briefly interrupt the are west ham doing as well as man u debate?

15 games left, both of us repeat our last 15 game form - we finish 2 points above them.

What a pathetic thing to argue about.

It's why I spend far less time on the main board than I used to. Far too many threads just end up with individuals having arguments and nit-picking on something someone was supposed to have or have not said when it's largely irrelevant anyway.

Probably fair, we've already done tough away trips to City, Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Stoke. West Ham have all of these to come. Plus Man Utd and Spurs at home. They could easily loose all 7 of those.

After Man Utd away our toughest away trip is Spurs, then Swansea. Everyone else is bottom half. Plenty of opportunity to pick up away points. I'd fancy us picking up points from Wigan, Newcastle, QPR, Norwich, Liverpool, West Ham, Swansea, West Brom, Sunderland and Stoke. Need about 16 points from thosee 10 games.

They have fairly easy home games though against Newcastle, Reading, Wigan, West Brom. More than enough games to pick up the bulk of points they will need.

Here's Fat Sam crowing about his methods and West Ham's league position in the London Evening Standard in November:

"Last season, for example, we came in for some criticism. The opposition considered us the top dogs in the Championship and went that extra mile to try and beat us.

Not many West Ham fans were worried about the things which concerned me when I took over, though. We were a football club on our knees, with no soul. None of that mattered. “We are West Ham”, I was often told by supporters, “we should do this and do it in a certain way”.

When we didn’t ‘do it’, such as when we drew too many consecutive games, we were criticised. I didn’t mind it so much as that’s my job but the players felt it on occasions. This time it’s different. It’s our first season back and we’re not expected to be at the top of the Premier League. After all, we only came up through the play-offs but look where we are compared to Reading and Southampton."

What is so galling about this is that today we should be on the same number of points as them at least with just a GD of -1 compared to them. I personally will never forgive Gazza for those 2 almost criminal errors. Other results could have been better but those 2 were unforgiveable.

But forgive Adkins for mucking it up at home to United? Or for the linesman that ruled off Gastons winner against Arsenal? Or for Adkins not getting the team in any way sorted for Sunderland at home? Keepers always make errors, any age (look at Howard on monday nearly gave us a goal, or Hart or De Gea this season) when the manager, officials or any number of things have cost us with proper errors...
