Giordano Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 Having laughed at the number of times this has cropped up i thought I'd put some input towards this pointless yet ongoing debate about who is "bigger" than who. Here is my list - my own list from my own personal reasons, no explanation given, and as of today. 1. Man United 2. Liverpool 3. Chelsea 4. Man City 5. Arsenal 6. Spurs 7. Everton 8. Aston Villa 9. Newcastle 10.West Ham 11.Sunderland 12 Southampton 13.Fulham 14 West Brom 15.Stoke 16.QPR 17.Norwich 18.Swansea 19 Wigan 20.Reading Probably got a few wrong, not much in it between Sunderland and us really and Fulham is a debate i suppose - but we are def "bigger" than West brom, norwich qpr stoke reading swansea i reckon. Sorry but WHUFC are bigger than us imo and the others there no debate. :-)

If it's recent success then fair enough but I reckon Newcastle are bigger than Villa now and Man City Arsenal is a difficult one to call despite City's big success recently.
Bartosz Bialkowski Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 We are not bigger than Norwich. Do you remember average attendances from League 1?
Saint Garrett Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 We are not bigger than Norwich. Do you remember average attendances from League 1? They did give their STH very cheap tickets that year though to fill the ground. They had something like 25k STH.

They are indeed smaller than those above and bigger than those from 13 down.

adrian lord Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 Spurs 6th? Only delusionally big in their fans' minds, and now the fawning media. Cup team at best, London also-rans. I 'd have em more 9-11
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 Yep pretty good although I'd move Newcastle up above Everton and Villa and change the order a bit near the bottom (Fulham down a few, QPR down one or two, Wigan at the bottom). Saints are in about the right spot.
Sour Mash Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 Spurs 6th? Only delusionally big in their fans' minds, and now the fawning media. Cup team at best, London also-rans. I 'd have em more 9-11 Spurs are easily 6th, have always been a big team.

Shalmaneser Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 Fulham have historically been a tiny club in the lower leagues. Even now they advertise their home games on hoardings around London, and friends have been to matches there on Groupon. They'd be far lower down the list.

They been a yo-yo club up until about 13-14 years ago so maybe they just should be a few places lower. btw. haynes, mullery, moore, best, marsh, saha, dempsey, dembele, intertoto cup winners, europa cup finalists off the top of my head. And Micheal Jackson, lol.
Minty Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 what are the criteria and their relative weighting? Quite. Impossible to come up with subjective comparisons IMO.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 I'm sure Stoke would have something to say about us being above them. Established Prem team that haven't looked remotely close to going down, well the entire time they have been up, what's that 6-7 years now? And an FA Cup Final year before last.

captainchris Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 We are bigger than Villa now. Isn't their attendance lower than ours.......And they have NO money and they are consistently bottom six these days....

Turkish Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 im sure MLG will be along in a minute with all his attendance figures which prove we are bigger and have more fans than Everton depsite us never in our history having had an average attendance higher than them.
Barry Sanchez Posted 23 January, 2013 Posted 23 January, 2013 If this is done on fans then Southampton are quite big due to our catchment area, passion and atmosphere? League 2, success? Championship.

I 'd have em more 9-11 Oh now you've done it. In a couple of months that internet addicted tit will be constantly commenting about "Not so long ago everybody on here was saying we were bigger than Spurs, but I was shouted down about it."
