For me he was a terrible signing when we allegedly baulked at paying for Malbranque who at the time was class.

McCann was coming to the end of his Rangers career and was on the downward slide - no time to jump into the Prem.

He could deliver a semi decent cross but despite being very slow and weak on the ball always tried to go on the outside of the top Prem fullbacks....with little success.

It might have worked against Gregor McDonald of Inverness but the Gary Neville's of the Prem just fly swotted him away.

Terrible signing by WGS/Lowe because you could see from the first game he had no chance.

I prefer our no 10 now.

Worst of these threads so far! Anyone who says he was anything other than garbage is either his mum or blind and stupid.

Apologies - I have lined up two crackers to end the week with.

It is also important to remember signings like McCann - £1.5m thrown away. Easy to do - wouldn't say during the Cortese era there have been any as poor as this, bearing in mind when he signed 1.5m was probably still in our top 10 fees we had ever paid!

Yep think that one is pretty comprehensive.

Complete TOSH.

Literally the worst Saints player I have ever seen of the legit signings (and by legit signings I am discounting Ali Dia and Bleidis etc) and that is taking into account the signings that came after him.

****e... Can't decide who was worse him or Telfer...

Ridiculous comment Telfer was a decent professional who did a good job for us particularly when him and Williams arrived just after Strachan and really settled the rocking ship.

I was pretty shocked by the fee at the time given our record was 4 million odd for Delap (very odd decision!) to spend what was a significant chunk of our money on this never had been seemed madness when surely we could have found someone better! I think the Cortese transfer commitee and some good scouting should prevent future stupidity like this, if the manager asks the committee for a decent winger you'd like to think after scouring the globe they'd come back with a better option! So far the committee seems to be working allthough the jury is very much out on J-Rod and Mayuka!
