Squad off to Barca trip thread...

Bit tinpot -we're a premiership club, not a bunch of starry-eyed jap tourists. There's healthy respect and then there's being patronised. Long gone are the days where Bally and Cruyff would be talking behind closed doors and we'd be picking up a bargain.
Exactly. This squad is playing at Old Trafford in a couple of days, played at Stamford Bridge last week, plenty have played at Wembley, not sure what they'll get out of this tourist experience. Will they be going to that room outside later with the big screen where you put on the 3D glasses for the "full Barcelona Experience"? Then down Las Ramblas for a few beers, before taking in a game at the weekend?

They should pop up to Benidorm and watch Juicy Lucy perform...that will get their interest and teach them some positional play:p

Juicy Lucy ? are they still going, saw them at Southampton Uni students union back in the dark ages; must have been about 1974 or 5

I was working out there and some local chaps took me to see a lady called Juicy Lucy who performed in many different positions with lots of oil over her body with some strange props

like hard boiled egg and a bottle of beer.:D

She was solo and could not sing or play musical instruments...maybe the one eyed picc:polo

Saints related...YES.......I thought she would make a stopper for the Saints or a SPONGE lady:blush:

Quiz question: Have any of the squad played at the Nou Camp before, if so who?

(I don't know the answer)

Mayuka has played and scored against them I believe, though no idea if it was at Nou Camp.

Southampton FC ‏@officialsaints When told Gary Lineker was @FCBarcelona's last Englishman, which Saints player asked: "What about Mark Hughes?" #saintsfc

 I'm gonna go for Luke Shaw.

It's team building and it's no secret that it's the Barcelona model who we have being trying to replicate. I think it's fine.

Why is it team building? What will doing a tourist tour of the ground do to change anything. Nothing wrong with looking at the best practices of the very top clubs and trying to implement them at our level. Don't need a tour for that.

Have you been? Just one look at their trophy room and I was inspired, so god only knows what effect it'll have on young talented professional footballers...

Not sure he is that good tbh. L1/L2 is probably his level.

I got slagged off for saying that, last summer and again last week. Martin seems to be a bit of a sacred cow on this forum.

Once again I don't think that many of our co-posters realise just how good you need to be to play regularly in the PL.

Just need a translation now.... :)

it basically gives the lowdown on Pochettino and Saints: 1. Cortese is an evil genius 2. Pochettino can't speak ANY English at all 3. Les Reed is evil but not a genius 4. Saints are a massive club and will soon start work on expansion of the stadium 5. Guly is out best player and an idol in the mould of Le Tiss.

Really?

Team all going on a trip together, looking at the ground for one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world who we are keen on trying to emulate. How is that not team building? Imagine all the snippets we would be getting from Adkins about this, it's right up his positivity, corporate management type alley.

Looking around the ground of another club, regardless of how good their team is, isn't going to make any difference to the performance of established Premier League players who are already playing at Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford week in, week out. Nice way to spend a morning off I though.
