S-Clarke Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 I thought he was pretty decent to be honest. Had his best time in England with us by a long way, technically very talented but did look a little awkward at times. Obviously his stand out game was Derby, but he did have a fair few other good games that season as well. Did a job for us in our ''staying up'' season too, but was on too much money to be kept on any longer than that.

I thought he was technically poor to be honest, very poor passer but was extremely athletic and a powerful runner.

Dig Dig Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 I remember the story of Burley stopping training to ask him to simply pass a ball back to him in a straight line......which he couldn't do after several attempts.
SuperSAINT Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Liked him. High energy, good tackling. Always thought if he could pass, he would've been in the prem.

Saint_Jonny Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Was it Viafara or Pele who bough that Derby player down in the box and gave away a penalty in the home leg of the play off semi? I canny remember.

The9 Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Bloody hell, you get points for remembering that ? That Pele foul is surely burned into the mind of everyone who saw it ? 20000+ thinking "LET GO OF HIM, FFS", but no, he clung on inside the box until the inevitable fall and penalty. The9 Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 As for the OP, Viafara always had my awe for the match where he lost a load of teeth when conceding a corner and then not only played on but headed the corner clear. Excellent athlete, alright Championship standard footballer. And ex-Skate, let's not forget.

Whitey Grandad Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 terrible quality mind Well it is Youtube What happened to his first goal, the instant equaliser? I always liked himfor his enthusiasm and effort. Seems like a lifetime ago now.
Saint Garrett Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Ran around a lot, made him look good, could put a tackle in, but then what was the point when he just gave it away again. Always thought he was dreadful. Was good Vs Derby though.
Foxstone Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 One hell of an engine in him but little end product that perhaps his athleticism demanded. When running a full tilt, I always thought they would have to open the tunnels at the end of the ground as he would not be able to stop in time !! shurlock Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Wasn't pretty on the eye but given all the sideways no penetration CMs we've had, he definitely added something. Some of his runs for goals -Leicester, QPR i.e. not just Derby were a breath of fresh air. Shame he fizzled out in his second season. OP- when are you going to do a Safri thread. bpsaint Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 I liked his frequent ability to smash a shot at goal, and then see the ball end up going out for a throw in.

a1ex2001 Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Like alot of the players we signed at that time he had his moments, thought he was decent but not worth the massive wages we were probably paying him much like alot of the players we signed at that time! Telfer once hit the big screen at the Chapel end, but can't remember who against though. Some of the names on this thread make it seem a lifetime away from some of the stuff that we saw first half last night.
