Pilchards Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Not a chance as the players want it so much with a good manager. Any idea what the latest bookies odds are as I read they changed it after Adkins was sacked.
Frank's cousin Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Still a big fight ahead of us - those first 10 games cost us - not Nigels fault, but I am sure the 'fixture computer' had a hand in ensuring the 'big's side had easy starts to ensure a more competitive title challenge so wont get carried away. One thing i will say though is, taht although most wont be happy admitting it, the new man does have a bit of an aura about him and there seems to be a definite buzz around it. NIgel was great, would have loved to see him stay and grow with the side, but the fact the club did this albeit in a cruel way, does make a statement - I get the feeling that the players although sad, confused and dissapointed by Nigels sacking, perhaps see this as a confirmation that the the 'plan is real' - and will also get pretty excited by it..., time will tell, but it could be the masterstroke that some see it as... just a shame for it to require such a sad end for Nigels time here. Patrick Bateman Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Too difficult to call; could be anyone from (at a push) West Ham down, although I don't think they'll actually go down. There are some "bigs" teams in Newcastle and Villa and a team with serious financial backing in QPR who could all pull away as they all have the ability to string some results together with the players they have (or can buy in this window). That leaves Reading, Wigan, Norwich, us and possibly Fulham - although again, I don't think they'll end up down. I'll take a punt on Reading (20th), Wigan (19th) and QPR (18th). Villa 17th. Turkish Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Before the Chelsea game i said we'd need 4 wins and 5 draws from our last 17 games with 38 points this season being the safety mark i thoght would be needed. Points from games against Chelsea x 2, Man Uniteed, City and Spurs away being bonuses. Had us down to lose at Chelsea and draw last night so we are a point ahead of where i thought we'd be. We might lose our 4 point gap over the bottom 3 over the next 3 games as we play United and City but after that there is no reason why we cant get at least something from our remaining 12 games and Wigan away on current form. I think we'll stay up and relatively comfortably, provided we dont get anymore long term injuries to key players.

And if you were to quantify the impact of the new man - little or no impact on your prediction?

Ampersound Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 We will stay up if we can get a little bit more quality from the bench. We need to keep picking up points against the big boys and beat all the teams around us. Sounds simple... Just hope it happens
Suomi Saint Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Again it depends on what business we do in the current window. Same situation as with Nigel.

pap Posted 22 January, 2013 Share Posted 22 January, 2013 Don't think we will be relegated. The team we have has stood shoulder to shoulder with so called big boys, but we're going to need signings to weather any injury crises and provide competition, bench options and maintaining this high pressure stuff over the ninety. I reckon we'll sign people too. I am not ITK.
