Wanted to have a wrestle with Anichebe which nearly cost us but otherwise excellent.

I've been impressed by day one, never realised that there was ever too much of a question mark over him?

Don't think there was. Took a bit of time to settle but reads the game very very well so rarely caught out of position. His distribution has improved a lot as well. And yes he's got a massive head

He's very solid, but you can see he has limitations and I wouldn't expect him to last with us for more than a couple of years.

I thought he was MotM, he quietly gets on with his job, never dives in. Very much in the Bobby Moore style of defending, calm and calculating. A superb long term buy IMO

hah! I love football and the varying opinions.

For what it's worth, I thought he was excellent last night and has been getting better and better. As weird as this now sounds, our defence doesn't scare me; I feel Boruc will claim the ball, I feel calm that Clyne and Shaw will outpace the wingers and get back and make the crucial tackle/shepherd them away from danger and Yoshida does have a subtle strong quality about him.

Fonte obviously been very good too, Jos has come in and done well. What a difference!

I'm with you Nick. Hes 24 so still young for a centre back and has improved every week it seems. He's looked an excellent signing so far and for the price a bargain. I must admit i was a bit skeptical about his signing as the team he came from has the worst defence in the Dutch league and appeared to be a bit of a last minute panic buy and his early performances didn't really convince me. BUt he's really looking the part now. In Forren and him we have two relatively young centre halves who look like they could form a excellent unit for years to come. What with our new manager being a full international in that position that can only help them as well.

Yep, he might show our centre halfs how to scare the forwards. Im sick of seeing our defence bullioed and find watching Clyne and Shaw bullying the attackers a nice change
