St.Patrik Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Yeah saw some small banners and also a guy with a t-shirt saying thank you Nigel on it. The "silence" from the club is pathetic - it's like NA never been here....

The "silence" from the club is pathetic - it's like NA never been here.... He is not dead. There was a massive 3 point up for grabs and rightly it was about the match and not about Adkins IMO

The "silence" from the club is pathetic - it's like NA never been here.... Yeah cos what 'real' clubs do is stage a fecking celebration party... The statement thanked him as every club ever in the history of football has done...
St.Patrik Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 He is not dead. There was a massive 3 point up for grabs and rightly it was about the match and not about Adkins IMO Ok but just a small thank you or something would have been ok - even if he's not dead I know.
Saint_clark Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Another banner in the northam was confiscated but didn't see what it said.
St.Patrik Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 In Sweden that never would have happened (I know we are a weak country) unless the banner says something illegal or racist stuff. Saying thanks to a former manager is neither - but again that's Sweden ....
Plumstead_Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 No surprise there. I expect photoshop artists are working round the clock to remove Nigel from team pics and marketing materials.
Crab Lungs Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Not sure I want success at any cost any more.
Thedelldays Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Not sure I want success at any cost any more. But you do. You want player to replace others at a drop of a hat. You want shaw but not fox, you want clyne but not Richardson, you want lambert but not Barnard It costs money and players are playing one min and then farmed out to forest or Brighton the next without recall clauses

You want shaw but not fox, you want clyne but not Richardson, you want lambert but not Barnard It costs money and players are playing one min and then farmed out to forest or Brighton the next without recall clauses Well, let's just say I wanted Premier League football so that we'd keep ahold of our best players. Everything that's happened has to be honest, made me think a little harder.
Thedelldays Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Well, let's just say I wanted Premier League football so that we'd keep ahold of our best players. Everything that's happened has to be honest, made me think a little harder. Where was your sorrow towards the player that skippered us to two promotions and a wembley win?? No even mentions his name anymore. Where was the loyalty to him The sqaud from the last two years was always going to get broken up Next season it will even more so. Just the way it is...
Barry Sanchez Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Dignity and respect before success, look at the Island dwellers down the road as an example.

Where was the loyalty to him The sqaud from the last two years was always going to get broken up Next season it will even more so. Just the way it is... I didn't realise I had to openly disclose my sorrow! I was disappointed about Sharp tbh... I know we have to move on and everyone will but I believe we've sacked someone who could take us just as far as anyone else, and with such style. As for Cortese, well... the whole media blackout/programme snub/banner ban about sums it up. It's the sacking and that kind of thing that makes me think again about what i want.
Crab Lungs Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Dignity and respect before success, look at the Island dwellers down the road as an example. Yup. Or both, which is something we were doing anyway..
Dangermouth Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Dignity and respect before success, look at the Island dwellers down the road as an example. Hear, hear. Second time you've not spouted complete cr@p. I'm getting worried....
Barry Sanchez Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Hear, hear. Second time you've not spouted complete cr@p. I'm getting worried.... I am not going to come on here and defend Adkins and his tactics etc etc or Cortese and his ways as that would make me a hypocrite but what I can say is we should of dealt with this in a far better manner, it just has no class about it and leaves a dirty taste in the mouth, no one on here would like to be treated that way and tonight goes even further, its like Nigel Adkins has been erased from the history books, its cheap to be frank.

Graffito Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 He is not dead. There was a massive 3 point up for grabs and rightly it was about the match and not about Adkins IMO What are you on about. How's a kids banner or a thank you to our former manager going to affect the result.
Graffito Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Yeah cos what 'real' clubs do is stage a fecking celebration party... The statement thanked him as every club ever in the history of football has done... There was no thank you in Cortese's statement.
GAS Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 What are you on about. How's a kids banner or a thank you to our former manager going to affect the result. It's a tricky one, what would affect the team more a kids banner or Puncheon needing a clear out during the game!! Personally I think Corteses parker coat should have been banned.

Liquidshokk Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 A kid had a mask of Nigel on near the dugout and when he got the photographers attention they started snapping away, only for a steward to come over and tell him to put it away or he'd be thrown out!

Shameful really, what directives must they have been given? As MLT said, Cortese really does have a big ego. Small man, big ego, big anorak. I just don't like him.
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 This was always going to happen. But what I found a bit weird was the fact that all media were asked not to interview fans prior to the game. Cortese obviously scared of getting a complete mauling live on TV.
Thedelldays Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 This was always going to happen. But what I found a bit weird was the fact that all media were asked not to interview fans prior to the game. Cortese obviously scared of getting a complete mauling live on TV. Thing is. They were hyping up this "cauldron of hate" and "big protests" There were just none... None that could be heard anyway Saw a fair few Adkins banners and of course, heard the Adkins songs Even now, on talksport, an Everton fan on the way home is saying he was expecting some sort of protest as it was billed in the media and in our local sites... He said it just wasn't there and it was infact, a very good game of football with no distractions
musesaint Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 The reality was ... the fans supported the players, the club and the new manager and didn't behave like a bunch of bed wetting hanky wavers or Chelski saddos In short, the Saints fans were again a massive credit to themselves and the club. Great result. Great effort from the players. Puncheon a legend.
SaintBobby Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 Stewards can be very heavy handed. I think Saints staff particularly so. We should complain when they are. But this isn't an Occupy Movement protest FFS. There was so demo tonight and the self-appointed fans' representatives looks even sadder than ever. The white hankie thing will surely go down as amateur hour legend. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/10172160.Saints_fans_plan_Adkins_protest/?action=success

Cortese obviously scared of getting a complete mauling live on TV. Unbelievable that. Has a football club ever tried so hard to control the vies of its fans?

I haven't agreed with too many of your posts but I agree with this one. It is pathetic for Cortese to offer no meaningful appreciation of Nigel's efforts in the media release nor even a fleeting acknowledgement in the programme, but it is something else entirely to deny the fans their right to express their appreciation. I could understand critical stuff being confiscated (understand but not necessarily agree with it) but I can't understand how someone could be so insecure as to issue orders like that. If he wants to come across as a bigger man, perhaps he should start acting like one.

St Matty Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 Will he stop a banner at OT thanking NA - I doubt it but he will probably try - what a moron.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 I don't care if he has got us a new David Lloyd to train at, the guy is an arrogant knob. Strangely, Barry sums it up really well. Well put Baz!
Bucks Saint Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 How long before he starts to threaten to throw out anyone singing the One NA song?

JRM Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 it is a dictatorship and an attempt to censor views that wouldn't look out of place in North Korea. the best thing is it is another step towards the media understanding what an unstable nutcase cortese is , unable to listen to criticism and insecure enough to give out such orders. it's a shame the parents of the 12 year old hadn't stood up to the stewards and called their bluff , would have been interesting viewing for sky subscribers seeing a child marched out for saying thank you to Adkins. shame on cortese.
Thedelldays Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 At Mary's like North Korea?? I wonder who the ones goingnOTT really are here
Turkish Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 At Mary's like North Korea?? You agree with the decsion to ban people from giving their views to the press outside the staidum?

I have been to real countries that are oppressive and are like a holiday park compared to n. Very bad in the context of bad things that can happen inside a football ground these days Edited 22 January, 2013 by Thedelldays
Turkish Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 That is bad. But North Korea? I have been to real countries that are oppressive and they make North Korea like a haven holiday home. Fwiw, there were plenty on full view of the telly last night but to take them off.a 12 year old is very bad. Very bad in the context of bad things that can happen inside a football ground these days Jamie, we live in a country which believes in freedom of speech. You should know you cook for those that go to battle to defend that right. That doesn't exist inside SMS. He is a dictator of sorts. In fact there are quite a few similarities with North Korea, no freedom of speech, constant propganda spun out by the official sources and brainwashed people singing the name of their leader.
dickyhale Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 http://www.urban75.org/football/rights.html
Thedelldays Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 It's not free speech though in this country Turkish. There are many things that you can't do But way off subject, junior. I know you like to go fishing on here between making the office coffees, but we really are not like North Korea. I thought you were a well travelled man, guess you have not got your passport back yet.... Like I said, it was a bad thing to do.

Exactly that. And some are happy for their club to be run in that way. Disgusting.
