EBS1980 Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Apparently no mention of Adkins in the programme tonight. Think that's poor, we could have at least acknowledged the great work he did in the past two seasons.
Clunge Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 All this negative stuff about the club is getting boring now, people need to get over it and move on…
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Urrgghhhh, that's disgusting but not surprising.
Turkish Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Disgraceful really. Even a couple of lines thanking him for his efforts would have been nice.
trousers Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 If they do a tribute I'd rather it was in a future programme rather than being a rush job for tonight's
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 All this negative stuff about the club is getting boring now, people need to get over it and move on… I'm all for positivity but the club deserves a certain amount of stick. This and the media ban is silly.
shurlock Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 So petty and insecure by the club. Rise above it ffs. The only way it will be able to move on and bring the fans with it.
Clunge Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 I'm all for positivity but the club deserves a certain amount of stick. This and the media ban is silly. They said thanks to Nigel, granted very briefly, the day they sacked him. How long does he need thanking for?
John B Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 All this negative stuff about the club is getting boring now, people need to get over it and move on… WHY It does seem that the club is run by a nasty little man no thanks to Adkins Wilkins etc and staff told what to say. I think probably Adkins was not the right long term manager but the way the sacking has been handled has been pretty poor
70's Mike Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 just leaving work to go to game not the first Chairman who tried to remove history

I think probably Adkins was not the right long term manager but the way the sacking has been handled has been pretty poor I'm not saying Adkins was treated fairly, far from it in fact, but everyone needs to get over it. If the negativity on this forum makes it to the stands of the grounds it will make it to the players as well, and that won't be good!
egreog Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 All this negative stuff about the club is getting boring now, people need to get over it and move on… Its all about respect, good management and decency. Not about "getting over it" and "move on". Its just another sign that the values of SFC are not , in my view, quite what they used to be.

hypochondriac Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 If they do a tribute I'd rather it was in a future programme rather than being a rush job for tonight's I'm fairly sure that's not going to happen and I think you know that too...
trousers Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 I'm fairly sure that's not going to happen and I think you know that too... You may be right
sotonjoe Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Given the way the sacking was handled, what did you honestly expect?
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 I'm not saying Adkins was treated fairly, far from it in fact, but everyone needs to get over it. If the negativity on this forum makes it to the stands of the grounds it will make it to the players as well, and that won't be good! Sorry but b-o-l-l-o-c-k-s. Most fans don't read this forum. Most fans will have made their own mind up what to do tonight. Nothing to do with what is written on here
pap Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 They say "least said, soonest mended". However, the papmobile won't start, I forgot to speak to the garage and it is still broken. So perhaps what they say is boll0cks.

If the negativity on this forum makes it to the stands of the grounds it will make it to the players as well, and that won't be good! Cortese can of course change managers if he chooses but he seems incapable of behaving like a reasonable person sacking Adkins may well be the correct decision but replacing him with a non English speaking manager with no experience of the PL is risky especially as the team was starting to play well and going up the table. He could have come to the press conference thanking Adkins for all his success in taking us from the relegation zone in League 1 to 15th in the PL. He could then have explained what he wants for the club in the short term as well as the long term and how the new chap is going to achieve it and why he was chosen. It is all well saying half the squad is going to come from the Academy but how is this to be achieved and what is the timescale for this to happen and what funding do we have for future transfers. Instead no in depth statement has been issued or Adkins warmly thanked staff have been told not to talk about the change of manager and apparently had their Facebook and Twitter accounts monitored fans have been prevented from discussing their concerns with the media inside St Mary's and it is suggest that PR plants have been on other forums warmly praising Cortese Now lets get back to tonight and hope we perform well with lots of support from the fans who seem to have been forgotten
St.Patrik Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Disgraceful really. Even a couple of lines thanking him for his efforts would have been nice. Totally agree - this is not helping winning over the fans you know Cortese....
Dr Who? Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Normally printed well ahead of the game, and would have thought it would have been printed already. If this was the case it would not have he new bloke in it! Perhaps he will get a write up in the next game.
Bucks Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 I'm not saying Adkins was treated fairly, far from it in fact, but everyone needs to get over it. Thanks for your deep, experienced, ability to join the ranks of those telling us how we should all feel. Excuse me if I don't take any notice of your instruction. I will avoid the urge to tell you what you should do.
Frank's cousin Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 I would hope there is a suitable piece in the next program.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 I would hope there is a suitable piece in the next program. Doubt it..... Hes long forgotten by Nicola i feel

the colonel Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Apparently no mention of Adkins in the programme tonight. Think that's poor, we could have at least acknowledged the great work he did in the past two seasons. he's gone get over it!!
Kingsland Red Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Just checked my copy - I can confirm no mention at all of NA
Fan The Flames Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Quite disgraceful, NC really has no class.
Under Weststand Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a note of thanks in any upcoming program. As far as Cortese is concerned Nigel Adkins never existed, he's been expunged from our history. Kind of reminds you of Fawlty Towers & the German sketch, don't mention his name I did once but think I got away with it. How hard would it to be to give a simple thank you for the two promotions & wishing him well for the future, not hard & would show just a little class, far to much to expect from this classless regime.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 Kevin Keegan just been on Talksport, said after his second spell at Newcastle exactly the same thing happened to him, not a mention in the following programme. I don't recall a massive uproar from the media over that.

Agree but then you have have a bit of class.but I suposse that's one of his flaws in his character. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Must be a few. I am expecting my banner thanking NA to be removed before entering OT next wednesday - assuming I can get on the coach with it - no 3 by the way, picking up at Eastleigh - 4 of us going, tall 6foot 2, nearly 60.
Special K Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 Normally printed well ahead of the game, and would have thought it would have been printed already. If this was the case it would not have he new bloke in it! Perhaps he will get a write up in the next game. Adkins was "sacked" well ahead of the game too, it was just formalised last Friday! I suspect NC hasn't given NA a second thought since he told him / got someone to tell him to do one. If the press release is anything to go by, where he was cast aside within 13 words, he won't get any mention at all from now on. Even the stewards were told to confiscate any banners / messages of support for NA last night and that Nabil Hussain fella tweeted that the media were not allowed any "vox pops" interviews on how the fans viewed last Fridays events from in and around the stadium. Welcome to Commandant Cortese world. It is all dispiriting and i did hope that when Punch left the pitch last night he did so to curl one on Cortese's desk.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 Perhaps someone could provide an example of where a manager was sacked and then got an honorable mention in the next programme. Kevin Keegan just said on Talksport it never happened to him. Perhaps someone has an example of where it has happened before.

Kevin Keegan just said on Talksport it never happened to him. Perhaps someone has an example of where it has happened before. 99% of Managers get sacked for poor performances hence the lack of honorable mentions - although MP seems to have been well liked and well regarded after espanyol sacked him - so perhaps he got an honourable mention. mind you they were bottom and won one in 9 whereas our situation was different.
Saint Garrett Posted 22 January, 2013 Posted 22 January, 2013 Only time he has been mentioned is by Pochetino. Very odd. Does Cortese normally write programme notes? Did he last night? I know Lowe used to but I've not bought a programme in years. Also surprised Davis didn't mention him having been here in his most successful part of his career. Very strange, clearly been told everyone has to move on and not dwell on the past.
